My mom bought a new 2005 Nissan Xterra 4 wheel drive from Tom Wood Nissan on 96th (TWN) back in the aughts when they were released. In 2023 the car had just hit 80k miles and always had been babied; all service (with the exception of a few oil changes) had always been performed at dealerships. My mom is an older woman. She figured she would be in the ground before the vehicle reached 100k miles. The insurance is low on the car, she always felt safe in it. It was a solid, reliable car. She decided it would be her last vehicle. After returning to the US after several years abroad, she took the Xterra to TWN for any recommended service it might need. 81,405 miles. Since car was in great shape aside from a slightly torn intake air duct assembly boot, she decided to splurge and also replace a fog light along with fixing the finicky back door that stopped unlocking with the fob by replacing latch actuator. $1128.52 2 weeks later check engine light light came on. 81,554 miles. TWN said she needed a new catalytic converter. She replaced that. And since TWN said the car shouldn't need anymore major work for another 10k miles, she went ahead and replaced the fuel pump; the gas gauge has not worked properly since the mid aughts when purchased. $2529.67 2 months later the front right was making a knocking/ticking noise. 82,423 miles. TWN replaced alternator and messed with door which still wouldn't always unlock. $854.18 after $439 in "loyalty reward" discounts. 83,155 miles. TWN for oil change and vehicle detail cleaning. $328 Soon after, was driving on the freeway when suddenly smelt burning. Drove directly to TWN. They said it was nothing. Would periodically smell burning of short duration while driving after. 86,527 miles. 6 months later, driving on packed freeway. Needed to accelerate and car wouldn't respond--as if it had been dropped into neutral--putting us in a life threatening situation. Took it in immediately to TWN. To address the "drivability concern" they performed a brake flush. They also did a full front brake replacement/wheel alignment, cleaned the fuel injectors, and then they found that the radiator had a slight crack and needed to be replaced. They replaced it, the engine coolant, and recommended flushing the transmission fluid at the same time. $2727.96 A week later we were once again put into a life-threatening position on the freeway when the car suddenly would not accelerate and was almost hit by other cars. TWN told us that we now needed an new transmission at a cost of $8200. A friend's teenage son informed us of the infamous "strawberry milkshake of death" that occurs after Xterras hit 80k. Basically the seals fail in the factory radiator allowing the coolant to mix with the transmission fluid killing the transmission. He told us that there had been class action lawsuits but never a recall. Since most people hit 80k with their Nissans more than a decade ago, the repair work associated with the class action lawsuits had long expired. My mother has suffered greatly from this and it has taken a huge toll on her health and happiness. I have found her in tears feeling like her last years with any quality of life is over. She has had no way to see her friends, go grocery shopping, go to doctors appointments, or just get out of the house. She can't afford to take Ubers everywhere. Tom Wood Nissan's service department took advantage of my mother and basically ruined her last remaining years. Don't let them take advantage of you and yours. Stay away. Update about a month after first posting: The phone number listed in the response goes automatically to voice mail. I have left 3 messages and none of my calls have been returned. read more

Came in for a recall. Service wasn't too busy and Erin who helped me was awesome. Took care of me from start to finish. She said it would take about an hour and it took about an hour. Nissan was great about texting me and letting me know if I needed anything to let them know. They had a nice big TV in the customer waiting area with free water and free Starbucks, coffee. The dealership was clean and everyone was really friendly. While I was there, I even got a text about an offer on my current Nissan and its trade-in value. When I entered and drove through into the service bay, the cameras captured my undercarriage, which I thought was very cool and the amazing inspection I received on my rogue was really cool. It was a very thorough inspection and they rotated my tires and washed my car I would definitely come back to this dealership versus the one that is closer to my house. I bought this car brand new with 11 miles on it. I've had this car since December 2025 and have been to Tom Wood Nissan 2 times for the same issue (leaking oil) why is a brand new car leaking oil??? Not only has it RUINED our driveway but i waited for 6 hours (had a sitter watch my baby) for the service department to look at my car to tell me my oil pan was leaking and ended up sending me home in a rental due to needing the sealant to dry. Got it back and noticed it was still leaking oil brought it back at 5,000 miles. We also noticed my engine cover was missing, when asked about it we were told there was not one on the car. Which wouldn't be an issue if we knew for a fact it was there before my car was worked on for the oil leaks. There engine has the mounts on for the cover but you can clearly tell that there has been a cover installed due to scuffs on it. Why would there even be mounts in my car if there wasn't an engine cover? You also can clearly tell there was a cover but now there isn't? After spending over 60k on a brand new car i am VERY dissatisfied with the way Tom Wood Nissan has treated us I just received my car back since being worked on for the 2nd time and my whole bottom of the car is CAKED in oil. And it appears it is still leaking oil. There hasn't been any attempts to make any of this right after spending more time at the dealership than actually enjoying my car. I've been a loyal Tom Wood customer for years between Lexus, Audi, Porsche, VW, and now Nissan, and had a great experience at all of those dealerships. Bought a GT-R last year and needed to order a few OEM accessories for the car like touch up kit, wheel locks, etc + balance wheels. The touch-up kit took almost 1.5 months to get, and I had to constantly follow-up with my service advisor for updates. It took almost 2 weeks to hear back from the advisor to set up an appointment for wheel balancing, and by that time, my 72-month service was due which I asked to schedule. I never heard back. A few months later, their assistant reached out about scheduling an appointment for my next service. I described what happened in the past, and was told I'd get a call from a service manager to discuss what happened. Never got a call. I'm giving an extra star because as a new owner, I had a bunch of questions about the car, and they were nice to answer most of them. I've been going to a different place since then, and I'm very happy with it. I wish the service department at Tom Wood Nissan was more professional - like getting updates on ordered items, hearing back about appointments without long delays, and actually getting a call from the service manager to address feedback. Instead, they were negligent, apathetic, and disrespectful. Just not the experience you'd expect while owning their top tier car. read more

I went to Tom Wood to buy a vehicle. Buying the car wasn't the problem. The problem was the service department. When I brought the car the salesman said it hasn't been serviced yet and he couldn't let me use a loaner vehicle because one was not available. After waiting for over 3 weeks to get a loaner or get my car serviced and growing frustrated with the waiting process. I ended up leaving work and going up there and asked to speak with the manager in charge who immediately went and got me a loaner. I spent a lot of money for this vehicle and I feel I was not valued as a customer after the purchase was completed. read more

You'll be the one following up about your servicing, and they won't bother replying. Can't and don't want to answer basic questions either. They'll also tack on unnecessary services like fuel inductions in true Nissan style to hit their quotas, and charge the highest amount possible for services, along with a special credit card surcharge and "shop fee." Everything about my experience working with these people are just horrible!! They put me in a car, and the very next day the check engine light came on. I have contacted them multiple times about it just for them to tell me to come get it looked at, and when I came to get it looked at they charged me $226. Turns out a rodent had chewed on a hose under the car. $226 and just for them to tell me that they're not going to pay fix it. Because there's no proof that it happened when the car was with them. My car was rear ended in August. It took until 11/1/22 to get an appointment to have the vehicle repaired. We were given an appointment time to meet with an adjuster. The adjuster asked us to join him as he surveyed the damage. He showed us what needed to be done. He then walked around the vehicle and marked every little ding or scratch. He said as soon as the insurance company approved the repairs that they would start work on it. He assured us that he would contact us every Tuesday and Friday. He would give up dates on the car until it was completely ready. He did just that. We picked up the car today. They have done an outstanding job repairing the car. I asked that they use new Nissan parts and he said he would try. Insurance could control the product A new muffler, new bumper, new chrome. When we picked the car up, the adjuster met us. He pointed out everything done He also pointed out insurance issues we were unaware of. It took a month to get our car back, largely due to interaction with the insurance company, but we are so pleased with the repairs, it was well worth the wait. read more

This service dept has ZERO respect/appreciation for your time. I think they'd prefer if you didn't bother them with your business so congrats to them I won't bother them anymore. I was given appointment time of 12 for an oil change. As I'm pulling in see a sign proudly advertising no wait oil changes. At 1 (a whole hour later) I see my car parked in the garage with the emergency lights flashing. I asked the service rep what does that mean? he replied without hesitation that means your car is next to be worked on. No apology for wasting an hour of my day and no explanation or revised estimate of how much longer it would be. I'm writing this review from their waiting room. Went to Tom Wood Nissan to check out a car I had my eye on. I walked onto the lot to take a look and I was quickly greeted by Brian C., one of the salesmen at the dealership. He was very kind, helpful, and forthright throughout the entire visit--from offering up the keys to inspect and test drive the vehicle, to providing details about the car's history (along with a free copy of the carfax!), and helping me apply for the lowest interest rate loan to finance the vehicle. Brian and the rest of the team at this dealership made the whole process of buying a car a genuine pleasure. After having visited a competitor's dealership close by and getting a strangely icy reception, all the staff I spoke with at this dealership were friendly and talkative. Plus, they offer little creature comforts, like Starbucks coffee/water/snacks while you wait on paperwork. Overall, Tom Wood Nissan creates a transparent, supportive environment in which to shop for a car. They make a potentially stressful process seem breezy and fun. Deceptive billing and sales. I brought in my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder for repair, they estimated that the engine repair would be 600-1000 dollars, and they suggested additional repairs for an estimated cost of around $2,000. A few days later they informed me that they hadn't been able to repair the engine- that the entire engine would need to be rebuilt for 5-7 thousand dollars AND I owed $2000 because they had gone ahead and done the other repairs before looking at the engine (tire balance, etc) and attempted to fix the engine. THEN the salesman (I asked to help me look at some newer used cars) informed me that they wouldn't get anything for my Nissan- it would just be scrapped. I had to pay 2,200 dollars to drive it out of their lot and got an $11,000 trade in elsewhere. read more

Bought my car in January 2024 (new Versa). I did my homework, and they had as good a deal as anywhere, and were closest to me. Found car online, called to say we were coming, and bought the car. Nothing spectacular. They were nice. Recently, had some warning lights come on. Took car in. Said that a rodent had chewed through some wires and a harness needed replaced. Maybe, hard to know for sure. Around 60 for parts, around 60 for labor to install. Around $360 to diagnose, which took about an hour. Total bill almost $500. Not sure why the diagnostics were so high. No explanation given. I guess it is true that dealerships make more money from service than they do from selling cars. read more

I had a pretty good experience buying my Rogue. The little things matter to me and there are things that could have gone better such as a full tank of gas and a little extra detailing of the car. After I bought the car, I noticed the back cup holder was really dirty (it can't just be wiped down) and the car smelled like smoke. I can get it detailed but again, it's the little things. I do advise letting someone test drive the car alone. Having a salesperson in the car distracts you from really being able to pay attention to the little nuances of the car. I noticed after I left, there is something that feels loose/vibrates when I drive. Otherwise it was a quick, seamless experience and Kevin was great. We recently had our 2020 Nissan rogue towed for service to Tom Wood Nissan. Our car started smoking heavily upon starting. Previously there were no warning lights, high heat engine warnings, or oil low/change warnings. Upon inspection, Tom Wood Nissan state the engine had sludge issues "due to poor maintenance" and stated the vehicle recommended an oil change at 15,000 miles? When the vehicle was towed to Tom Wood Nissan it had approximately 51,000 total miles. The language inserted in the repair recommendations included "due to poor maintenance". Once repaired we received a customer invoice for repairs of $2,100. When broken down, the actual materials costs represented $450 of the total repair services with over $1,500 in service fees. the actual service consisted of replacing a valve cover, flushing the engine and replacing the oil pan gasket. We did receive an estimate of repairs before approving the repairs to take place that did not include the breakdown of parts and services. First, Tom Wood Nissan never asked us for any type of documentation showing the consistent maintenance of the vehicle. Secondly, Tom Wood Nissan never gave a reason other than "due to poor maintenance" of what actually caused the sludge to begin with. These engines have a continued notable issue with faulty PVC valves. Instead of inquiring, which could have possibly covered the repairs under warranty, it was automatically deemed a repair "due to poor maintenance". To be fair the repairs took care of the issue. However, the cost for service and the assumptions made by Tom Wood Nissan are unacceptable. read more
