The gentleman working the bar was attentive, friendly, and clearly knows what he's doing. Every drink was incredibly well-made, creative, and delicious. You can tell there's some real thought and skill going into the bar program. The vibe is also fantastic. Cool, laid-back decor with some awesome portraits of a few absolute GOATs on the walls--Dave Chappelle, Anthony Bourdain, and others. Definitely gives the place some personality and makes it feel like somewhere you actually want to hang out. I didn't get a chance to try the food this time, but I cannot wait to come back for the veggie burger. If the cocktails are any indication of the quality coming out of the kitchen, I'm expecting to be very happy. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and clearly a place that knows how to do things right. Watermelon tomato salad- 10/10 feta cheese always takes the show! Beef sliders- 10/10 us just being greedy but so good. French fries- 9/10 decent portion! Blackened salmon- 8/10 compared to how flavorful the appetizer's were it made the salmon lack in taste. Something was missing but it was still good loved the coconut milk flavor in the jasmine rice! The server was apologetic about the wait and offered to comp our desserts as a gesture of goodwill, which we appreciated. When the final plate arrived, we were quietly discussing the $3 avocado upcharge among ourselves, since the tacos came with barely a sliver of avocado. The server apparently overheard us, because she returned moments later, silently set down a small plate with extra avocado next to our food, and walked away without a word. The gesture felt pointed rather than helpful, and it left the table feeling uneasy. The food and drinks themselves were decent. But by 8:45, we didn't want to wait even longer for the comped desserts, so I asked if we could have our drinks comped instead, since a couple of the cocktails were priced similarly to the desserts (which ran up to $16). The server seemed uncomfortable and said she could only comp two desserts, offering 10% off the bill instead. This wasn't what had been discussed earlier, but at that point we just wanted to wrap up the night, especially since my parents had a long drive ahead. Given the service, we'd quietly decided as a table not to leave an additional tip, only to find a 20% automatic service charge already added for large parties. The manager appeared to become frustrated, stated to understand the main concern, yet responded with an unnecessarily intense tone and level of defensiveness. There was considerable deflection, repetition, and what felt like half-truths rather than a sincere effort to work toward a mutual solution. The manager should remember that they represent the Root of Happiness brand. We have been patronizing Root of Happiness for at least 10 years, long before the owners expanded to the Roseville, Midtown, and Rocklin locations. Additionally, over the last few weeks, the Justin's Peanut Butter Cups have seemed unusually dry. It may be the result of a bad batch from the vendor or the effects of extreme weather conditions impacting the product's quality.

It's a bar and people want whatever their perception of bar food is, but the green beans are tasty enough that they should be on your to try list. They're very lightly breaded and tasty. I would've preferred them to be a little bit more seasoned, but they come with a Thai chili dipping sauce that just works. The chicken strips are very thin, very lightly breaded, and while they're not my thing, other people like them. I just find the chicken to be really bland and kind of like cardboard. The bathrooms are clean, the entire bar is kept pretty clean and you can pretty much be assured that when you see yourself, it will be in a clean place.
