At around 5:00pm on a Thursday we had about a 30 minute wait. We expected this at Disneyland. We were seated outside within the 30 minute window. Our server promptly greeted us with a smile :) We got to order our food when placing our drink order. We both ended up ordering the Meatloaf under Walt's Favorites. I saw this was recommended on a blog so I figured I'd give it a shot. Oh I'm so glad I did; it was amazing! The flavor was delicious! The veggies were also delicious! Even better-my toddler LOVED it all! She had a little bit of everything on my plate. My husband was also quite satisfied with this plate. We had such fast service here the food made it to us before the water and the water was like a five minute wait. I do think that every single restaurant should seat you with water and not wait at all. We ordered Oscars breakfast and the mickey waffle. Oscars breakfast was good and served the purpose we were searching for.. a more basic dish since we've eaten out at every fine dining establishment that the resort offers and we needed simplicity. The mickey waffle was my most disappointing. I have a hard time liking Belgian waffles because of how hard and dry they can become and this waffle was no exception. It was so cold outside and they had the patio doors wide open and it chilled the waffle before I even took a bite. It just needed more moisture and to be cooked a little bit less than it was. I have always had the character breakfast at the plaza inn and next time I would go there v here bc the food quality is the same but you have more choice and you get to see all of the characters! read more

Breakfast and dinner menu are excellent!! Probably my favorite though is the breakfast time here at Carnation Cafe. They have a various selection of items for breakfast but the must-have is the Mickey shaped waffles. I'm an adult myself but hey you're in Disneyland and Mickey shaped waffles can't hurt anyone! Table service is available with very formal and nice waiters. The food is excellent, pricy but delicious! If you really want breakfast I suggest arriving early and on time before 11AM because they don't kid about what time they stop serving breakfast. Dinner option is also good, usually there will be a wait time but they take your name, give you a buzzer and allow you to walk around the store next door while they find you a table. I tried the Main Street cheeseburger that was served with seasoned fries(amazing). The patty was cooked to perfection of my taste and the cheddar cheese wasn't so overwhelming as I expected! The brioche bun made a perfect pair with the house sauce and overall I was extremely satisfied! Another plus is they serve Coca Cola products not Pepsi! WOO-HOO!! read more

I might be a tad bias here since I actually worked there for about 9 years give or take but I just wanted to clarify things for some yelpers out there. No they do not microwave the eggs. This place is actually serves some of the freshest food you can get throughout the park. There are a lot of things that are unhealthy on the menu but if you are concerned about that then bring your own food into the park. They have a lot of veggie options and you can always substitute fruit for many of your side items. The food is about 90% made from scratch and only about 10% brought in from outside vendors. The hollandaise sauce is delicious and it is made as it is running out. They DO NOT have RESERVATION!! It is called a priority seating and it ONLY guarantees you a spot at the front of the line. Be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes to get seated if you have a priority seating. If you have a party larger than 8 people then it WILL be difficult for your party to get seated quickly. Please be mindful. This restaurant is small and not fitted for large parties. On rare occasions you might be asked to split your party in different tables. The reason they do this is for your benefit not theres. They do not control the priority seating call line and have no control over the ability for large parties to make priority seatings. They are ALWAYS under staffed and yes it is usually busy. I wouldn't be surprised if the server you have for breakfast will be the same one you see for dinner. Make sure you get a priority seating if you plan on eating there Sunday mornings. Sundays are ALWAYS Annual Passholder days and you will mostly likely see the same people eating there and if possible in the same spot. It doesn't get you seated faster if you stare down the hostess. In major holidays like New Years and Christmas it will be extremely busy and more likely it will be under staffed so be prepared to wait along time in line. With all this being said I have to say that the food is delicious. As I previously said I worked there and I have tasted all the food from the Veggie Sandwiches to the Steakmelt. The wait is completely worth it and if you are one of the lucky ones that is there for breakfast during the week you'll be greeted by Oscar Martinez. He has worked there since the summer after the park was opened, yes that's more than 50 years ago. He takes great pride in his breakfast and as such comes in before any of the other cast members to make sure that his famous potatoes get prepared the way he likes them. If you coming during the week and order the potato soup Oscar will give you a copy of the recipe to take home with you. Above all I suggest that you relax and enjoy your vacation. read more

The Carnation Cafe is one of our favorite stops on a trip to Disneyland. Being able to make a reservation certainly helps, and getting your Coke refilled time and time again on a hot day helps too. I love the meatloaf stack, that is my usual entree. My wife loves the turkey sandwich, and we both love being able to sit down and relax for a bit. One small issue, sometimes the sign that says when breakfast stops and lunch starts is wrong, always check at the desk before you get in line. I still miss the Monorail Cafe, though, it was THE BEST! read more

Wow mega disappointment for what has always been my favorite breakfast restaurant in Disneyland Resort. They remodeled which was very nice, more places to sit. This gets the 2-stars.. They have a new dish (Juevos Rancheros) my most favorite Mexican dish, so I ordered it. HORRIBLE! Seriously the chef should have spent more time on taste than presentation. :-( The presentation was good, but the tortillas were half cooked and flimsy, the egg was so small I couldn't find it, the black beans tasted like water, absolutely a tasting disaster! The kids waffles were good, very tasty for my children (I snuck a bite) We also ordered a side of potatoes a d it tasted terrible as well, reminded me of dirty water. Maybe this just one a one time thing or just a poor rendition of Juevos Rancheos but it was enough for me to avoid this restaurant for a while. Yuck!! I still love Oscar!! He's the best! read more

I adore this place. I have been going to Disneyland since I was a toddler in the late 70's. It wasn't until last year that I decided to STOP hurrying around, trying to get on every ride I possibly could, and sit down to eat. I am glad I did. First, they are reasonably priced. Located right on MAIN STREET at one of the most popular amusement parks in the WORLD you would think it would not be, but it is. My family of 4 can get a lunch here comparably priced to a lunch in our hometown in the SFV. Second, their food is delicious. I haven't had everything on their menu, not even close. But their burgers are yummy (though I think they recently changed the buns and if I have to say anything negative at all, it's TOO much bun - takes away from the greatness of the patty). If you're a pickle fan, their fried pickles are absolutely to die for. I must get them on every trip. They have great, reasonably priced kid meals, offer crayons and a kids menu, and they take reservations. Reservations are a big plus!! Every time we have had them they get us in within FIVE minutes of our reservation even if it is packed. We always make a stop here at each and every DL trip. Which being AP holders, we go quite a bit. After our AP discount last Saturday our dinner total was $43 and change for 2 adults and 2 kids and that included an appetizer (fried pickles). Can't be beat! I know it's tempting when you're at The Happiest Place on Earth to run and hurry through your day. But if you're going to make a stop to eat, you may as well eat GOOD food here rather than at those burger joints in Tomorrow Land and Frontier Land that will probably end up costing you just the same if not more for mediocre food! read more

We went to Carnation Cafe to try the Chef's Vegan Burger. It was delicious! The patty tasted house made with potato, beans, and veggies. I had mine wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. It came with a vegan chipotle mayo that packed a lot of punch, but wasn't too spicy. It was one of the best vegan burgers I have ever had. Looking forward to going back. Our server Louis was very welcoming and courteous. What a great Disney dinning experience! read more

Came here on a Sunday for an early dinner after spending the day at the park for my daughter's birthday. We had a reservation already, so I can't comment on the wait time, but they let us in early, which was nice because we were starving! Service-hostesses were all friendly and polite. Our first waitress went off shift and was replaced by a new waitress. I actually liked the second waitress better. Don't remember names though. Food-really good! At our table we had: meatloaf (amazing), sourdough bacon melt (awesome), baked potato soup (grandma ordered it and raved about it, so that's a win for me), a cheeseburger and kid's Mac and cheese meal. The only problem was that they brought out two sourdough melts and not the cheeseburger that was ordered. They assured us the burger would come out quickly and it did (probably first waitress' error...grrr). Mom said it tasted great (another win)! I let the waitress know it was my daughter's birthday and they gave her a yummy, complimentary chocolate cupcake with lots of sprinkles and a Mickey wafer on top. That was a nice touch! It wasn't really crowded the evening we went and I really liked the nostalgic feeling it gave me. Just ate breakfast there and I just want to warn everyone about the scrambled eggs. They looked good at first but tasted a lot like rubber! Even the guy at the table next to me didn't enjoy them. We both had a few bites but ended up just leaving them alone for the rest of our meals. The toast that came along with it was also hard to bite into. The bacon, seasonal fruit, and hot chocolate were really good, though! As for the cafe itself, it did have a nice atmosphere to it but the service wasn't that great. The only times they would talk to us was when seating us, taking our order, and when we left. They didn't check up on us and when they came around they just awkwardly gave us our food in silence. We had reservations for 5:30pm, Friday 7/3 for dinner and still waited about 15 mins before getting seated. We sat inside since it was still bright and hot outside and many eating there shared that same thought. Food was tasty, I had the angus sough-dough bacon sandwich cooked medium rare (came out medium tho) and my 7 yo had the kids fried chicken and mash potato entree. Service was a bit slow but expected due to the dinner rush. Our server Bree was friendly and checked on us often. Accepted annual pass holder discount of 15% for premium pass holder.. SCORE. We've eaten at just about every food establishment in Disneyland and found the Carnation Cafe to be our favorite. There was 7 of us and everyone was extremely happy with their food. That's rare! I had the Chicken fried Chicken, it was delicious as were all the fixin's. The staff was very attentive. I understand the price is going to be a bit more than a normal restaurant but it should be good, instead most Disney food is mediocre at best. So I was happy to shell out $17 for my meal at Carnation because it was delicious! read more

One of the best places to eat at Disney, not to mention it's affordable! I've eaten here twice and had an amazing experience both times. My favorite order is the jalapeño sourdough burger (something like that), It's decedent and just juicy and perfect! I also LOOOOOOOOVVEEEEE their fried pickles. I actually craved it for a few days straight after eating there. I also liked the Mac and cheese. Overall I think you can't go wrong with the food here. We're gonna eat here every time now. The place always looks more crowded than it actually is because it's next to the ice cream store, but they are pretty good with wait times and reservations. I think the wait is worth the food. The space is a little tight. Especially inside. I'm not too fond of how dark the inside is, but there's always tables outside so I can't complain. read more

I hesitated after seeing all the other reviews. I also worried about getting a table because it seemed like others had problems. Anyway, it was a great experience for us. We got to Disney as soon as they opened the gates and sent straight to the cafe. We were seat right away even though we were there during spring break. The place is really cute, right on Main Street. Prices are consistent with any other breakfast cafe. My daughter got the parfait. It looked awesome....raspberries, bananas, blackberries. I got the classic 2 egg and sausage plate. Mine was pretty basic....you can't really screw up eggs. The waffles ordered at the tables around us didn't look great. Waitstaff was pleasant. Overall great way to start the day. read more

I made a point to visit this place to try the adorable Mickey waffles! I don't usually do the whole full-on sit-down restaurant type-of-meal in the parks usually, but I made an exception for these waffles. My husband and I ordered the waffles with a side of bacon as well as an all-American breakfast of eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast. I'm sure the waffle would have been better if it had been served to us hot and fresh, but I think it had been sitting out for a while (how disappointing). The syrup had also formed a skin at the top of the sauce cup in the time it took the waiter to bring the waffle from the kitchen to our table... Everything else just tasted okay, with the exception of the scrambled eggs which were VERY overcooked. They tasted like the kind of eggs that had been sitting in a chafing dish all morning. I'm sad to say that this is one of the worst brunches I've ever had, but I was there more for the novelty than anything else. read more

We come here every trip to Disneyland because I love their veggie burger! I look forward to it every time we come! It's very good, I highly recommend their veggie burger. Our waiter brought us a chocolate cupcake for my fiancé's bday and service is always good. Blue bayou is my favorite but for a more casual restaurant, this one is the best of them at Disneyland and I'm sure it's the only one (not including calif adventure because I've never fined there) that has a veggie burger option. One of the more budget-friendly dining options at Disneyland. 2 people on my party got the frittatas; one absolutely loved them, the other is new to healthy-ish eating and thought they were only ok, and not very filling. One got the mickey waffle with strawberry topping, and loved it. The topping was not overly sweet. I got the chicken fried steak, which is probably why one of the frittata eaters wasn't happy with their plate Anyways, all four of us cleaned our plates. Came here for my little sister's birthday yesterday, and let me tell you it was the best guest service I have ever received. I love this place as it is, it's amazing. My waiter was spectacular, super funny, engaging, I left wishing he was my friend. Everyone is attentive, EVERYONE not just the person serving you. I was dipping my fries into ketchup and ranch, a neighboring server noticed and he came and brought me the secret sauce! It was amazing, he was so kind. I love this restaurant. Definitely recommend you make a reservation because the line gets really long. We had reservations for 9:30 and we were seated within 10 minutes. This is heartbreaking. I go to Disneyland once a month. I used to go early so I could have breakfast at the Carnation Café. Now I have no reason to get there early. For one thing, they took my favorites off the menu... the Croissant Benedict, the cinnamon roll French toast and the breakfast croissant. The new menu has what looks like healthy choices, but they're boring. I mean, the menu is really, really BORING! The oatmeal cakes tasted fine and had a good consistency, but it's still OATMEAL! And overpriced, even by Disneyland standards. I complained to the waiter, and then to Oscar, and then I filled out a complaint at Disney's City Hall. I won't be eating breakfast there until such time as the menu is restored to its former glory. I'm only giving them one star because YELP doesn't allow for fractions or negative stars. read more

Went to Disneyland and ate here for dinner one night. It was really really good. My boyfriend had the meatloaf which had so many flavors mixed into the meat that it was heavenly. It has pieces of bell peppers inside (which he usually hates) but did not bother him while he finished his plate. I had the turkey sandwich on the pretzel roll. That was ok. Came here the other day and was really disappointed that don't have the chicken pot pie anymore. The waitress said they got a new chief. The turkey sandwich my wife had was served on the densest bread we 'be ever had. It was barely edible. The sandwich was super dry and had a thick chunk of iceberg lettuce. Really lazy work. Subway does it better for half the price. The only saving grace was the good service we got from our waitress. We are not coming back here again. read more
