This place is a must every time I come to Disneyland. It is my favorite place to get food in the Park. My personal fave is the Micky Waffle. :) It gets busy, so I would suggest downloading the Disney app and making reservations a few days ahead of time. read more

I had eaten here before and had a very positive experience. This last experience was terrible. We were put at a table in the back corner of the outside patio, next to the entrance to the kitchen and the bathrooms. The sun was blazing hot and the umbrella provided little shade, barely keeping the table in shadow but allowing everything around it to heat up and make the location uncomfortable. There was a 2-top stuck next to our 4-top that was clearly not a match, and our table wobbled. I asked to be moved and was told it would be a wait, despite our reservation we'd had in place for days. I had kids in my group and didn't want to make a scene so agreed to this back table. BIG mistake. Service was terrible. It was about 10 minutes before anyone even came by the table. No greeting from a server, no "I'll be right with you," no ice waters to help us deal with the blazing heat all around us. Other servers came and went at other tables around us. I noticed they'd keep glancing over at our table as they'd walk by. Finally a young woman walked up and asked if we were ready to order. No acknowledgement of the delay, nothing. We ordered and waited. And waited. Annnnd... the drink order was incomplete. We had two birthday children in our party with buttons clear as day on their shirts. Nothing. No acknowledgement, no smile, nothing. In a normal situation I would not have let any of this stand. At this point I was trying to salvage the lunch for the kids in my party without any negativity. Food came out finally, it was acceptable. Not good. My food was actually cold. Getting the bill took forever, to the point I finally asked if we were supposed to pay at the table or take it to the front. I will NEVER return to this location. How tremendously stressful, uncomfortable, and disappointing all around. And the prices are in no way commensurate with the awful experience we had... close to 100 bucks for the 4 of us. Had they not take so horribly long at every step of our lunch, I would have talked to the manager with some polite feedback. Unfortunately the lunch had taken such a ridiculously long time from start to finish, we had to run to make the time on our fastpass for our next ride. Terrible. If you go to this location, get a seat near the front, or inside. Do NOT accept that horrid back table outside. read more

We had dinner here one night while we were in Disneyland. We requested a seat outside because I absolutely love Main Street USA at night. It took a little big longer for them to accommodate that request, but it was definitely worth it. The winner here is definitely the chicken fried chicken. It was some of the best I've had and very peppery. I would recommend ordering that. We also tried the cheese melt, which we did not realize was actually a hamburger on sourdough bread. I was looking forward to eating here for months. We decided on breakfast because I love eggs Benedict and my husband loves chicken fried steak - the Carnation has both. Of course the presentation of the food was beautiful. Disney makes everything pretty. I guess it's the pixie dust or something. But my eggs Benedict was disappointing. It was bland. Boo! The star of the plate was the breakfast potatoes, which were delightful. My husband said his meal was "just okay" as well. The service from the staff was fantastic - no surprise there. Stopped by the Carnation Café today. I ordered three different appetizers. First, the food: The deep-fried pickles were great. Walt's Chili was very good also. The side salad was, well, a side salad. Second, the service: I hate giving bad reviews, but, the service was certainly not up to Disney standards.I was initially seated very promptly, unfortunately, it took at least five minutes for someone to come by and ask about my drink order. That in itself wouldn't of been a tragedy, except that I saw several cast members just milling around near the POS system, chatting. Damn! I found a restaurant at Disney where I don't feel like I'm being ripped off! Is it expensive, yes but more importantly was I full and satisfied?? YES! I'm tired of spending 5 bucks for a pickle. Don't even get me started on California adventures food and wine festival (spoilers: it's bad). But here at carnation cafe I am at peace. I had the hidden menu Electra-fied chicken. It was really good. The chicken breast was moist and flavorful. The honey Sriracha sauce was a pleasant spicy surprise. I loved it. Located inside the Disneyland park gates, we were lucky to be able to get seated pretty quickly! Upon walking in, they ask how many people are eating and then ask if anyone in the group has any food allergies. If you do have food allergies, which I do, they give you an allergy free menu! Their breakfast menu isn't huge, which is nice! The seating area inside is adequate and they have outdoor seating as well. My girlfriend and I were seated inside. The tables are kind of bunched together so we were near the kitchen door, luckily they weren't slammed open and shut. We both ordered coffee, which was very good and smooth! I ordered the eggs Benedict and my girlfriend ordered the ham and cheese omelet. Both came with a potato mash, it was good! Perfect portions as well and very well priced. Nothing exceeded over $15, I believe the highest was the country fried steak. Service was good as well! If you come to Disneyland, definitely check out this cafe! Can't go wrong here! read more

Great way to start our Disney-filled adventure! We made a reservation for 8:20 (just after the park opened) but we had some issues with our e-tickets and got there about 10 minutes late. I'm really glad they held our reservation because the website states that there's a $10 fee if you don't show up on time! I got the country-fried steak and eggs ($15), which also came with breakfast potatoes and toast. The steak was pretty good and I got over-easy eggs that were perfectly cooked! My boyfriend got the Mickey waffle ($12) with apple topping (+$1). It was really cute and also really delicious! It comes with a choice of bacon or sausages. The waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! The apple topping was nice and warm with a hint of cinnamon. It tasted like an apple pie filling. I thought it was pretty pricey for a waffle but the portion was actually a decent size and the food was good! read more

Let me preface this with the fact we have been to WDW in Orlando and they are exceptional with respect to handling allergies in all of their food locations from kiosk through fine dining. It quickly became apparent traveling in Disneyland that the same standards were not required or applied. So I was delighted to come across this restaurant which appeared to follow WDW standards and had good Yelp reviews. Tonight we were seated next to another family that also had allergy concerns, although theirs sounded complicated. We were tucked together into a little nook of two tables with a shared bench. Our sever took drink orders from both tables, took food orders and then passed us over to a new server because "he was going on a break". I think this was the fatal flaw - if you claim to be good with allergies, then don't assign tables with allergies to changing servers. I think you can guess where this is going. The food was brought to the table next to us. The mother rechecked her complicated instructions. The new server put down the meals (I didn't hear what he said). The youngest child, maybe two years old started coughing. The mother started to panic and again sought confirmation on her requirements and was pretty sure of a screw up. The chef came out. The mother started freaking out (i don't blame her) and was yelling loudly at staff, at the Manager, demanding medical assistance. Nowhere did I see the original server... They called for a nurse and asked if the allergy was life threatening and the mother responded no, but it did not matter (it does not - allergies can unexpectedly get worse). The nurse came with a whole crew, wheelchair, medical equipment. At this point we asked to be moved because frankly they needed a lot more room and we were trapped. They moved us to a nearby table. I felt so bad for the family. Allergies are tougher the younger the child as they have not learned to control and communicate well yet. We had the chef double check our child's meal was still safe for her egg allergy. We also needed replacement waters as we couldn't tell which water glass belonged to each of us after the table change. I think the whole staff felt very badly. I know they photographed the table after the family left, likely for liability reasons, but I do recommend retraining or a change in protocol after this. The next time they may not be so The meal was an afterthought to that upsetting incident. The food was good, with kid's meal being extremely small. They brought our child a massive complimentary allergy safe chocolate hot fudge sundae. read more

My rating is more like 3.5 instead of 4. Food was good overall, was hoping for better. Highly recommend fried pickles, though. I got the catch of the day but it was a little too salty for my taste buds and the sauce served with it tasted like ketchup (not my favorite). Got lemonade with foam and it was too sweet. We had reservations, hostess tried to sit us outside right in the middle of all tables, but it was too warm with a small child and space was too small. We learned to always make a reservation when we know we will be going to Disneyland because that is the only way to be seated! It is very popular and we know why! It's definitely worth it. You need to come here for that alone. And while you're there, you should try the deep fried pickles. They sure are tasty. Though, unlike other places I have had this concept before, they cut the pickle into long spears instead of slicing them before the deep frier. The end result is fewer large pieces, but you get a really good helping of them and the dipping sauce is good in itself. Then you have the chocolate soda. also solid. But man, are the PB&J Sodas not the darn tastiest strange combination you could think of. Service was pretty fast. Had to wait 15 minutes to get seated, but they seemed slammed after a parade type of deal. The rest of the service was spot on and I would highly recommend coming here for when eating in the park. We were starving and it was towards the end of our one day at the Disney parks. We decided to eat here because (a) it was a sit down non cafeteria style restaurant and (b) because we hadn't tried this place. I was told this place is where Oscar works at. He is the longest employed employee at Disneyland. We had to wait for about 45 min for 3 people. Not that bad since we used the time to rest our legs at the bench. They give u a pager that works along all of Main Street. Ordered the Walt's Favorite (Fried chicken and mash potatoes). It was surprisingly crunchy chicken and juicy. The meal was hot and fresh. Service was excellent. The price was not bad for what we got $23 w a bottomless drink. Portion was just right. The wait was about 30 minutes. I made the hubby wait, while I walked around :X haha. When we were finally seated, we had a grumpy worker. She didn't smile and wasn't friendly at all. We ordered the Mickey waffle because I really wanted that as part of my day and it came out in about 10-15 minutes, we didn't have to wait too long. O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!! Firstly, the rumors of Chef Oscar (Disneyland's longest-tenured employee) coming out to greet you during a quiet breakfast are wholly and 100% true, as my girlfriend and I experienced this past weekend at Disneyland! It was so nice to get to chat with him, even if it was just a brief, "how is everything?" and the like. Truly magical. First tip - breakfast is HUGE. I highly recommend sharing. My girlfriend ordered the French Toast (wow!!!!) and I ordered Oscar's Special (the cheesy eggs and breakfast potatoes - YUM!!) and we split these two entrees evenly, which was perfect. We were so full and satisfied by the time we were done, and the total bill was only $20 with our Annual Pass discount. It was almost more than we could eat to be honest, but it was so good that we didn't want to stop. ;) The French Toast is....well, the only way to describe it is to say it looks like someone took the French Toast from IHOP and a cinnamon roll and rolled them together, then inflated the mass to thrice its usual size. It tastes like French toast and like a cinnamon roll and unlike anything you've ever had. Truly delish! Especially with the icing they give you. Oooohgod, I could get obsessed with that stuff. Also, try the breakfast potatoes. They are amazing, and you can actually find Oscar's recipe on the Disneyland blog if you're feeling like cooking some weekend and reliving your Disney magic. I came to this restaurant b/c I didn't want seafood, hamburgers or hot dogs. Go figure, you're at Disneyland so your food options are limited. I tried the Country Fried Chicken dish which came with mash potatoes, a roll of bread, and veggies (grilled corn and peas). I thought the idea of having the veggies grilled was great considering most places just have steam veggies. The gravy with the chicken was outstanding !! I enjoyed every bit of it. Went for the grand reopening and I have to say I was quite impressed. Despite a small issue with there being 4 different hosts at the front all telling us opposite things, Carnation will definitely be a regular place for lunch. The tiny issue is that we requested outdoor seating and we got seated inside because of a miscommunication. We didn't say anything because everyone was so nice and new to their jobs. They seated us half way outside right by the doorway, so we did get a pleasant breeze. Not that big of a deal since they seated us right away. Naturally, for the reopening they had a ton of people serving that day or in some cases, milling about. Our server was a really pleasant and mature woman. She told us her favorites and in the case of things she hadn't tried, she let us know what a lot of her customers thought of it. We found this information very helpful and ordered accordingly. Our appetizer was the fried pickles. I liked the panko breading (although I burned my mouth on them since I couldn't wait to dive in). The accompanying sauce complimented the pickles well. In the past, I've only had fried pickle chips, not the spears like they serve at Carnation. I've had the giant pickles they sell in the park and I can definitely tell you these are the same pickles they fry up. I should also mention they come in a cute little deep fry basket with paper that resembles newspaper. For our main courses, I had the spinach salad and my boyfriend had the green chile burger. His burger had cheese, egg, lettuce, tomato, roasted chile poblano pepper and of course the patty. I tried it and we both agreed that all the toppings were tasty, but the patty should have been larger and hand-formed. It was also kind of a drippy mess. I also say get the fries because if you order fruit it's just a small bundle of purple grapes. We went on the healthy side since we already had the fried pickles. I absolutely loved everything about my salad, except for them overdosing it in dressing. However, the vinaigrette was mighty tasty. I loved the pickled onions and shitake mushrooms. Plus, any salad is improved with a little bacon and eggs. Loved the grilled chicken. It was definitely a good-sized portion that was well-seasoned with some kind of pesto rub. It was so large I couldn't even finish it. Besides, we had dessert coming. I had my first ever malt here. I wasn't disappointed. Our chocolate malt kicked the ass of all the milkshakes I've ever had. It was so rich and creamy. Our server even brought us a little "bonus malt" to top it off. Overall, excellent experience. The food was on point. The service was friendly, helpful and prompt. Cute little cafe located on Main Street right across from Starbucks. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Had breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9:30am. Be sure to make reservations because it was an hour wait for those without. We were seated within 10 mins of arriving. The eggs Benedict were good but I've definitely had better and the sliced potatoes they served with the dish were a tad too soft to my liking. I like it when they're crispy! Fruit parfait came with vanilla yogurt, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, topped with granola. Nice size for the price (5.99 I think?) So we ordered the apple granola pancakes and our server had taken the wrong order. What came out instead were the Mickey shaped waffles with chicken apple sausages. Looked so delicious but we wanted to try the pancakes. They immediately apologized and sent it back. They let us know that the kitchen was a little backed up so when we finished the eggs Benedict was when the apple granola pancakes arrived. Apple granola pancakes were so fluffy! They give a nice big scoop of roasted cinnamon apple slices, a healthy portion of granola plus a side of warm syrup. The combo of soft fluffy pancakes and crunchy granola were a perfect match. They give you the option of bacon or chicken apple sausage links. They comped us on the apple granola pancakes since they got the wrong order. Loved that they did that! This is my first visit here. My friends go here a lot so I thought I'd try it with my boyfriend on our last day with our annual passes. My cherry malt and fried pickle were delish but for some reason my meatloaf tasted like I was eating salt. I felt really grossed out by it and our waiter was very nice and took it off our check (He's getting a nice tip!).
