Charming coffee shop with great food and coffee, this place is wonderful. The building used to be a post office, so you can still see some of the old postal boxes. There are lots of windows to let the sunshine in. There are 2 floors with lots of different choices for sitting and talking. The staff is very friendly. I just wanted to update my review to reflect the amazing experience I had hosting my son's first birthday party here on Saturday! It was just the perfect venue, not only because they have a private adorable upstairs room, but they made it so easy to organize. The space holds up to 30 people and is super comfortable at that amount. I love the mix of table seating and couches, you can really spread out if you want to. The rate to rent the room during normal business hours is $50 an hour, which I think is totally reasonable. You choose from a simple menu of sandwiches, salads and charcuterie boards that they make in house. The food was beautifully displayed and marked appropriately. They even made special gluten free items for me and a few others. I also like that you have the option to bring in your own desserts. If you want to serve alcohol it's $2 a head. You can also either have a coffee carafe or choose to have people order at the coffee bar. We chose the later option and it honestly wasn't a crazy amount. I will note that communication between the event planner was excellent. She answered all of my questions promptly and made things so easy. I appreciate that, because half of planning an event is the coordination. Definitely consider this for your next shower, birthday or get together! read more

This absolute gem of a coffee shop was a stop for me on the way to the airport. I needed some good stuff and not be at the mercy of whatever was at the airport. What a find!! How I wish this was near me! If you're a local consider yourself lucky! Coffee is top notch and I took their blueberry scone on a whim. Hands down the best scone I have ever had!!! I usually have nothing but good things to say about this coffee shop but today my friend received THE WORST service form the manager. She asked my friend to leave if she wasn't going to purchase anything even though she told her the other members of our group would be purchasing something. Since I moved here in January, we've gone at least once a week and ALWAYS buy something at some point but today my friend happened to get there before me and was simply saving a table while I parked. Other employees said that you do not have to buy anything to be in there but apparently you can't go study at this coffee shop and hangout. I guess the whole "good vibes" and inclusivity is just a show. Will definitely not be going back. Caution if you plan to go study as we always have done because they will kick you out if you don't buy something right away. read more

This was my first time here and I usually like to ask if your have something they're know for...weird ish I know but I go to so many local coffee shops a lot actually have one think the do exceptionally well and or have something that is fantastically more popular than the rest. Well I asked the right people, while they don't have one thing they're know for they have a ton of amazing choices and one of the workers ( I believe she might be the owners) favorites is a rose and cinnamon latte and I said sign me up to that. Carnegie Coffee Company is an original and one the best coffee around this area. Coffee shops are everywhere now and most that open soon within a week become "the best coffee around" it's a FAD at this point. Therefore, good ones are hard to find. Expect you've found one here! I really love Carnegie Coffee. It's a fantastic little neighborhood coffee shop. The employees are friendly (especially the owner), and the coffee, other beverages, and food are high quality. I also really like the atmosphere - it's bright and clean, but also has a uniqueness to r because of the historic building it's in. I really love that they used old mailboxes from the original post office as the base for the front counter. It's super charming! Not only is Carnegie Coffee great for your every day Coffee fix, or a place to work or study, but they also offer a nice little event space. I liked the atmosphere so much that I chose to have my bridal shower there on a Sunday. It was great, not overly expensive, and they were extremely easy and pleasant to work with! I love coffee shops. For working, for meetings, for catching up with a friend. This is a good spot that is steadily getting better over the years. Large upstairs seating area, and small nook for the book reader types. Big huge win is that this place was originally an old post office. History is cool. I'd love to stop in and work here more often, but the music is more pop-ish, and a little loud compared to what I feel it "should be" cuz I'm a pro coffee shop analyst. Shakira is blasting right now. Spent the day in a nook on the upper level with my face planted into a good book while sipping a great cup of coffee. Before I knew it, they were closing and I didn't want to leave. It's a huge shop. 2 stories. The entire time I was there, they were super busy. They have all different types of seating, whether it's chairs at a table, lounge chairs, or a business style setting, everyone feels comfortable here. CCC can also be used for other things besides grabbing a cup of coffee. They also have rooms you can rent out for special events. Prices are great as well. I loved my latte with almond milk. The employees were so fast and efficient and got my cup out to me within minutes even with there being a long line! I suggest going on a weekend if you make the trip here. There is a public parking lot across the street that is free on weekends, but not weekdays. The only thing I would change about CCC is that because it's so big, there are a lot of people that filter through which makes it very loud at times. Besides that it is a great place to try. The interior design and the welcoming feeling you get when you walk inside are my favorite things about it. read more

We visited this morning for breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches were nothing special - very little meat on them, the bagel and croissant were just average, and the sandwiches were each thrown on a big plate with not even a few berries or pieces of melon. Mine was remade twice because although I ordered the eggs scrambled and was told it was no problem to order them that way, the individual working in the kitchen claimed she had never heard of a scrambled egg and gave me an over-easy / fried egg on the sandwich twice (another worker then intervened and completed the order). The latte was barely warm upon presenting it. The worst part, however, was the lack of cleanliness in the upstairs seating area. We walked up there, sat down for a minute, and came back downstairs because the floors and general environment upstairs was dirty and unpleasant. read more

I stopped over here on my way home from Bloomfield to see what makes this place so special. It is located in the old Post office building directly across from the pay parking lot in the center of Main St in Carnegie. They serve lunches here as well as desserts in addition to coffee and tea. Since I was already caffeined out from my tea that I just had in Bloomfield I deferred the expresso for a dark roast to have less caffeine. Prices are very reasonable for the sizes you can order..As I looked at the various desserts I saw one gingerbread man which is my favorite Christmas cookie. I decided to have it with my coffee. I learned from the counterman that their desserts come from Mediterra bakery. I have been to that bakery before and have been well pleased with their offerings. I took my coffee and settled in the back room where they have a library of books you can look at along with and old style phone booth. They have low couches and chairs where you can sit and relax and there are other tables that I noticed if you wish to work from a laptop. i got to chatting with two people who were finishing up a demi cup of expresso latte which I was told was very good. My coffee was not overbearing but just right once i added my cream and sugar. This was indeed one of the better coffees in quite some time. The gingerbread man was so good I polished him off in no time flat! inside this same building is a Medicine shoppe and does have a handicapped accessible ramp if you are not able to climb the stairs. I like the fact that it is centrally located and gives you a place to relax and unwind. Highly recommend when you visit Carnegie's business district! read more

Carnegie coffee co deserves its spot on the Pittsburgh best coffee list. They use Lavazza coffee, which I'm impartial to, have a fully stocked pastry case with some individually packaged items (loaf cake slices), and have breakfast sandwiches on rotation in addition to a lunch menu. The interior gets its own 5 star rating from me; it's open but not loud in the way open areas with exposed industrial ceilings are, colorful but tasteful, clean, and has a loft style second floor with extra seating. Parking was easy to find around the corner, especially on a Sunday. I got the vanilla latte and Jackhammer sandwich with a side (included, and sides are on rotation as well) of red lentil soup. The latte was smooth and vanilla wasn't overpowering. I know from amateur experience how easy it is to make burnt tasting lattes that you try to cover up with extra syrup, and that wasn't the case here. The sandwich was on the lunch menu but was great as a brunch item because of the fried egg. Coming back again the next free Sunday I have! read more

A not so hidden gem! I've been to many coffee shops in Pittsburgh, but not one compares to this. I came to study here because it was recommended by a friend. I'll walk you through my experience... First, I pulled up with an available and free parking spot on the street right up front! Might have just been lucky, but this was a good first impression. I was immediately shocked by the size of the shop! Then, I walked in and was immediately warmed by the comfort of the place. It's like stepping into an open home. This especially feels good when living apartment style downtown everyday. I got creative with the barista and ordered a Fall Day Iced Oat Milk Latte w/ Pumpkin Cold Foam (w/o toffee syrup) because I couldn't decide between the fall day latte or the pumpkin cold foam drinks so he mentioned the idea of the cold foam on the latte. I loved his patience and creativity! The large drink was only $5 which is one of the cheapest coffees I've ever purchased, especially for a specialty and iced drink which are usually an up charge. I also appreciated how I was not given a straw right away to encourage bringing your own reusable one. There were so many places to choose a seat, even on a Sunday! Every seat was different which was cute. They closed a little early the day I went for a private event, but what I love most is their hours. Most coffee shops close around 3 in the afternoon since covid, but this place is open until 6 on weeknights which is super convenient! The owner replied to my story of the place and said she's happy the shop is thriving even without her and her husband who are abroad. Love that she took the time to personally reach out to me. Such a positive experience and I'll be back later this week! (Only a 10min drive from downtown. No outdoor seating, but lower & upper level indoor seating available.) read more
