Didn't have much expectations as I wandered around this food wasteland called Laughlin. fast food and one-star buffets and closed restaurants rule the roost in this town. This place, which is inside the Tropicana Express hotel, is desgned to look like an old railcar and you can sit in that side of the place if you want as well. I ordered the open faced turkey breast with gravy and mashed potatoes and surprise surprise, it was damn good. The turkey was the real deal, thick cut, and they were very generous with the slices. The turkey was piled onto one slice of bread (sourdough) and covered in a rather normal brown gravy. The mashed were even good and tasted real as well. A side of real cranberry sauce (saw the actual berries) upped the anty and at $8.75, it was a decent price. Skip the desert as the waitress admitted they weren't homemade, but they looked good. Can't vouch for anything else, but I would get that same dish once again if I find myself stuck in Laughlin again. read more

Service was terrible. Took 40 minutes to get our food. Ordered steak and eggs and a turkey dinner They gave us someone else's food. Received our order wrong and it was cold when we got it. To much salt. Sent my turkey back. There was a film on the gravy and it was hard. 3 other guests came in after we did. They were served and almost finished by the time we got our food! Horrible service waiting over 20 minutes for food, took the waiter at least 10 minutes to take our drink order. This has happened numerous times we've stayed in Tropicana and dined at this restaurant. Beware if you tired from a long drive, the waiters take their time. read more

Ugh, I'm so torn because I used to love coming to Carnegie's late at night. Sure, the service was terribly slow and the $4 steak and eggs was the only sane choice, but that was part of the experience! Unfortunately, ever since they started making changes to the Trop, I haven't been so happy. The biggest change here at Carnegie's: they longer have steak and eggs for $4, only country steak and eggs (and they're not very good). Yes, that's a game changer. If I could give this place a lower review I would. I have been coming here for years for the steak and eggs and when I traveled over 4 hours to visit Laughlin the waitress informed me they no longer have the special. So I decided why not try the new special which is now chicken fried steak and eggs. Let me just say it's absolutely disgusting I literally went and vomited after I ate it. This taste like a mixture of McDonald's chicken nuggets and beef filling. I will no longer be coming here and I will just start going to other casinos where I won't get sick from the food. What the hell are you guys talking about!!! What great service?!!! Service isn't great either as some of you guys say it is! Yes they sat all 9 of us fast, but the wait is terrible! Finally when they came to see us after 1 hour & took out order, it took literally 2 hours maybe more for our food to get here! Some of us were pissed; super pissed! We tried to calling a waiter's attention to ask about our food and we were ignored! Worst f'en service ever!!! Finally our food got here!!! But it wasn't as we order! See pics!!! Gravy was musing on half of our plates and when we told the waitress about it, she said to give her a minute, which meant of course 21 minutes and 12 seconds (yes I timed her). Our toast never made it to our table either until some of us had already finish the food! The manager came to see us and offer a discount for the inconvenience. Discounts that never made it to our bills but rather charged us for items that we didn't order. Yes, our waitress kept apologizing for the delay, but what's an apology good for with service this terrible! This place shouldn't even be opened for business! Another table behind is actually left when their order made it to their table and instead of eating it, they took off without paying it, and the restaurant called security! We should have done the same, but we paid the exact cost of our food only, cash, and left the place. Everything that could have gone wrong during this visit, actually did go wrong! We visit Laughlin every year with a party of about 50 people and all stay at Tropicana and always come to eat here! Service has always been slow, but TODAY it was the worst ever!!!!! I would not recommend eating here. The service was very poor. My family and I came here for breakfast and there was lipstick on my coffee cup and when they brought out my toast it was burned. I waited for our waiter to come to the table so I could ask for new toast, however he never came back to the table. I had to go to the hostess. The food was very mediocre. Took my 2 year old here for a nice relaxing dinner.... Or so i hoped. The wait staff was so offensive. They kept trying to pressure me to just order take out and bring it to my room where the is no high chair. I kept saying no but they were relentless and tried everything to get me and my child out of there fast. Not many choices in Laughlin, but always have a pleasant meal here. Breakfast and lunch are fine. Nothing great, but better than the fast food or buffet options. The tuna melt is a good choice..and the oatmeal is homemade and is a very large serving. If you want to sit down for breakfast, try Carnegie's read more

The only reason I'm leaving a 4 instead of a 5 star is because of the breakfast. I wasn't impressed. However we came for dinner Friday night and Mickey was our waitress. There was 6 of us. The food was delicious. Came out very quick and it was hot. Our drinks as well. We tried pretty much a little bit of everything and everybody left full and satisfied. Mickey our waitress was very friendly. Took the time to get to know us, explain the menu and even we cracked a few jokes. She made us feel very welcome. We would come back and see her again. Anybody that goes there ask for her. She's awesome. Our waitress for breakfast was Cherri. Also very nice and friendly. My only issue was the food's presentation wasn't all great. The hash browns and bacon ( which I'm a fan of, big time) weren't all that great. But other than that it's a great restaurant. read more

We went to the Trop tonight for dinner at Carnegies Dining Car and to hear a band that we like, but I got my dates crossed I guess, no band, it was Football Friday. We still had a great time at the Trop, diner was good and or server was a kick, wish I would have gotten her name so I could give her credit here. We have eaten at Carnegies often and always had a nice meal and good service, I don't know if they have a new manager or new cook but all 4 of us had meals that looked great when they were served to us and tasted great, all of us were very impressed. read more

Very disappointing. This place use to have really good food but I don't know what happened - the food is now lousy! Had a cheesesteak sandwich first night - not good at all! Last night I ordered a Cobb Salad to bring back & eat in the room . Couldn't believe it! This was the fourth time my wife and I had breakfast and lunch here. Nothing fancy but a lot better then standing in line at a buffet. Our servers have always been great. The time food gets out of the kitchen is a little slow. Remember, your in a casino, If it looks busy pick a different time. The girls get slammed in a rush like in all restaurants. The first visit was not great.. Service killed my vibe. BUT THIS REVIEW IS FOR MY MOST RECENT VISIT, yup gave it a second shot because the food was promising the first time around (and because Coco's totally dissed us so we left there) and Carnegie's was totally worth it again!!! We stayed at the Tropicana and decided to eat dinner here since it had a pretty good menu. We ordered drinks and took forever to get them. We ordered our food then our waitress disappeared. Never came by. The people across from us were waiting forever for her to come back with their coffee and take their orders. They looked aggravated too. Our food finally comes, and my nachos were barely room temperature. My husbands food was mush. My daughters chicken tenders were bland. My nachos were gross. The waitress never checked on us. When she finally came by and asked how we were doing, she walked right by before my husbands and could even ask for refills. She asked how our food was and my husband told her not good, she just gave the check and left again. My husband told the cashier how the food wasn't very good, she could have cared less. $70 and my son ended up throwing up after eating his burger. Never again! read more

Ok, just tried to eat here because there was no other option and was not impressed. First off we ordered prime rib queen and king cut and our server, the tall blonde took our orders as follows: soup of the day, french fries, and prime rib queen and king cut. We observed our waitress meander through the cafe for 15 minutes before we asked a different waitress why we haven't gotten our soups yet. As our server was finally bringing out our prime ribs, the other waitress ran into her and told her she forgot our soups, she comes over and says sorry, sets our food down, and brings the soups out right away, error almost fixed because a soup is suppose to be pre-dinner. Now to get started on the prime rib, I ordered a king, and the other person ordered a queen, both medium, they were both exactly the same size, and well done. We asked for the manager and that took another 20 minutes, food fully cold at this point, and the only reason they're now getting two starts instead of one is because he immediately corrected every problem, and gave us dessert complimentary, however, the waitress again acted idiotic by saying "I think he's only giving you one free dessert, let me ask him" first off, why wouldn't he give two desserts to two people complaining about both of their meals? Eaten here a few times before, food is ok. I feel breakfast is best here as the lunch and dinner menu doesn't have a lot of variety. Wife had the club sandwich which was pretty good with home made potato chips. I had the fish sandwich, over breaded piece of fish with a small piece of lettuce, slice of onion, and a tomato. Then when asking a server to check on our order he went to back came out and said the manager will be bringing it...... She tossed it on the counter and left.
