This is a 'cheap' prime rib restaurant and I am referring to the actual food quality. The prime rib is acceptable but mediocre at best (bit bland and slightly chewy). The place is quite old. The view is nice. Staff is friendly and competent. That being said... The cordon bleu was disgusting. Had to be returned and exchange for a prime rib. We went to the Riverside Prime Rib Room right at 4pm when it opened. Had reservations (which I highly recommend) and were seated right away by the windows -- the view of the river was beautiful and really set the tone for a nice evening. The staff was great -- super friendly and welcoming. Our server Mary was wonderful, felt like we'd known her for years by the end of the night. You start with the salad bar, which was really fresh and had some great options -- I especially loved the beet salad, which was a nice surprise! When you're ready for your main, the carver comes right over to your table and slices your meat. I got the prime rib medium with mushrooms -- SO tender I could cut it with my fork. The crust was seasoned perfectly -- lots of flavor without overpowering the meat. I went back for sides and loaded up: baked potato with sour cream and bacon (loved it!), mashed potatoes, veggies, and creamed spinach. Veggies were just okay, and the creamed spinach was a bit too rich for my taste, but the baked potato was spot on. Dessert is self-serve too -- I had the caramel pecan cheesecake which was so creamy and delicious. Didn't love the blueberry pie with ice cream, but the cheesecake made up for it. Loved, loved this so much. Make sure you have reservations and be a little early because the line can be long. The views are amazing for most all of the tables in this room. After being seated you are free to head to the salad bar and fill your plate with salads. It was nice and there were more than enough options for a prime rib dinner. After you finish your salad it's time to head back and select your choice of potatoes. There are mashed potatoes, baked potato and even other choices. Now it's back to your table again. It's time for the Prime Rib rack to be wheeled to your table. The serving size of the meat is not skimpy. You are given a good size piece. I'm not sure why anyone goes to this place. $37 per person. The entire experience was awkward from start to finish. It's half buffet, half table delivery. It's confusing, and quite honestly not enjoyable. The hostess desk was two obviously angry women one of whom was screeching peoples names. Then we are seated as a table, my silverware was obviously used, and had to be replaced. Then they explain that you have to go get your salad from the buffet. fine. It wasn't the freshest. Then you get another plate for your potato which you also go get from the buffet , which means when your meat comes you have two plates, no room to eat because the tables are tiny.The potatoes aren't sliced open so you are up at the buffet stacking the stuff to go on your potato onto your plate. My husband was trying to hold the plate with his sides so he could eat his prime rib. Our drink order was messed up twice. The food was just ok. I'm pretty sure my cordon Bleu was frozen from Sam's Club. The restaurant itself has confusing decor. It looks like they replaced the table tops and left all the old upholstery. The only good thing was the view. the Riverside still has its original nicotine stained ceiling tiles(never painted). The server for the prime rib was the messiest- dropped the knife and we were splattered with juice, one slice hit the floor and a spoonful of juice hit the table. Skip the mushrooms they are cold and canned. You aren't given the option of having the juice on the side. Our prime rib was swimming in the salty canned flavored juice. Ask for the juice to be on the side. It's not a relaxing romantic experience. Will we go again? Phenomenal. There are things that I would suggest for improvement but are minor. The salad bar does need some updating as selection is limited. However, no one really is here for salad. Adding soups as options besides the salad would be good as not everyone wants salad but might prefer a cup of soup. Making sure the salad is fresh as some leaves showed it wasn't that fresh. Maybe adding macaroni and cheese as one of the hot sides would be great. Otherwise, the prime rib is to die for as well as the view and the service. (Yes, they were a little busy). 8pm comes, nothing yet, which was fine. 815 comes around, still nothing. I go to the desk to ask how much longer. Turns out my name was crossed out because someone took my table. WTF? They need better workers up front. Anyway, we were sat after that. Salad bar, potato bar and prime rib were good as always. The friendly staff and servers always gave their best, despite the constant flow of grumpy old folks and other 'entitled assholes' we had overhead while waiting for entry and while we were quietly dining. All of the reviews are correct . . . canned mushrooms, limited, yet still adequate salad and desert bars and the sides. But, despite the complaints, the $28 price tag is one of the better deals for prime rib anywhere . . . even Vegas. The cut was thick ~3/4", ~10oz was a good portion. The service was odd, but adequate with your first walk-up buffet salad and starch selections before the main entree's are served to your table. Oh, we had to ask for salt and pepper. Other than it being very much a buffet, it was a decent night out, with plenty of food and plenty of friendly severs providing a grand atmosphere. We didn't sit along the river view, but me facing the entry, provided plenty of things (people) to look at. And when was the last time you saw an actual "doggy bag"? If and when you get to Laughlin Nevada or as I called the much more relaxed Las Vegas, a must stop is the prime rib room at the Riverside Hotel and casino. The price is fantastic at $27 and what you get for it is beyond exceptional. Start with the service with your server guiding you through each step and what is a full course meal from the all you can eat salad bar to the all-you-can-eat hot sides bar to the main course and then to dessert. The all-you-can-eat offerings range from salad and all the fixings to various ready to eat salads like seafood salads and tuna salads and mushroom salads. There is the hot sides bar with baked potatoes and scalloped potatoes and rolls and all sorts of Hot Side entries even mashed potatoes and gravy. The main course is to die for. However, let me preface this by saying if you do not like prime rib or not a meat lover there are options including chicken cordon bleu and salmon among others. Now that we got that out of the way, the prime rib is outstanding and you see them carve it up right in front of you. You get it made the way you want it made to order perfectly. Is a thick big cock. You can get mushrooms, au jus sauce and horseradish on the side. I will tell you that this prime rib is seasoned beyond all my expectations. The Prime Rib Room is legit famous. Everyone who has ever gone to Laughlin knows about it, it's highly touted and has been for years. Located in the Riverside Casino, which is also an icon in itself. Welp, years ago it was fantastic and a great deal. However, fast forward to recent years and it has, sadly, gone down hill. I mean it is still okay but I kind of feel like I'm at a small Golden Corral, basically. You go through the salad bar, which is a nice size with just about anything you could want for a basic salad. Then you go get your carbs on; mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, French fries, creamed spinach, rolls, scalloped potatoes. Keep in mind that the French fries taste exactly like fish sticks and the creamed spinach is really odd (some say fantastic others say horrible). Once you have that, then the chef comes and asks you which type of main meal you are having; Prime Rib, Chicken Cordon Bleu, or the Fish of the Day (salmon and cod are actually wonderful!) Prime Rib is really flavorful and juicy. Once you have your dinner in your belly, you can go back up for the dessert bar; pies, ice cream, cakes. My favorite is the blueberry pie with a little ice cream, pretty good, but definitely an all-you-can-eat joint kind of pie. Service is fantastic here though, everyone is so friendly and helpful. Drinks are refilled promptly and instructions on what to do are always presented clearly for you. Now, here's where I think this place has it made... the view!!! Almost every seat in the restaurant has a view of that beautiful Colorado River and all it's glory. The view makes this place go from Golden Corral status to Ok Not Bad! status. Make sure to make reservations early! Even a day or two in advance. They open at 4:00 and if you don't have your reservations, you'll still have to wait in a big ol' line and possibly never get in. We went and got our potatoes and vegetables, I got the creamed spinach which was excellent, I was disappointed that the used a box mx for the au gratin potatoes so I opted for the baked potato that was just lukewarm. We ordered our prime rib and it was perfectly cooked and very tender and tasty. The dessert selection was kinda disappointing but the ice cream was good. After your seated they take your drink order and next you go up to the salad bar where you load up on your favorite Salad with all the fixings. After you finish the salad options you go to the potato end of the bar with three types of potato to choose from. Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Fried Steak Fries, or Baked Potato with the extras. After returning to your table with your potatoes and vegetables a gentleman with a Prime Rib Cart comes over to ask what your choice is for a main course. Your choices are Prime Rib Temperature Your Way, or Chicken Cordon Blue, or The Fish of the day. He then from the Prime Rib Cart he brings to your table carves your meat to your liking. Loretta asked for A End Cut and he went back in the kitchen and brought her back a nice slab. I asked for a Medium Rare slice and he carved it and sat it in front of me asking if that was ok, Also if we wanted Sautéed Mushrooms with our entrees. Of corse we did.
