Carney installed my 15 zone irrigation system in Nov 2025. Very thorough workmanship and full coverage allowing for future lawn expansion. 2nd visit was system winterization. No issues. 3rd visit was to have a few heads shifted away from the right side of the drive to allow for planned driveway expansion. 2-man crew did a great job relocating and removing heads per our request. They made note of the need to ensure these heads were readjusted for Spring turn-on since they couldn't be checked/ adjusted at the time of the service. 4th visit was Spring turn-on. Tech repaired a broken feed and turned the system on but did not give attention to adjust the spray pattern for the changes made during the 3rd visit. Shame on me for not verifying his work before he left. 5th visit was a call from me to address heads that were literally watering my driveway and to inquire about a tool to allow me to adjust the spray pattern. Was told there was no tool available and that there'd be a service call to come out and make the adjustment. Raining that day but specifically asked the tech to verify the spray pattern for the heads near the driveway. $140 and a week later was out marking head locations and noticed multiple heads on that same side of the drive were watering the driveway and not the intended lawn. 6th visit and $61 more, responding tech 1st informed that an adjustment tool was supposed to be left with the install (gave me a spare one), next showed me how to adjust the spray pattern on the heads and finished by checking/ adjusting all heads spray patterns consistent with the landscape. in this case, 3rd time (6th visit) was the charm and charming. Good company but recommend ensuring everything is exactly as it should be before signing paperwork to indicate the job is complete. Would've been professional to waive those two adjustment trips b/c had the Spring turn-on been completed accurately and/ or an adjustment tool provided, there would've been no need for visits 5 and 6. read more

Disappointed after 20+ years with Carney Irrigation -- poor customer service and unfair billing. I've been a loyal customer of Carney Irrigation for more than two decades, but my recent experience was unacceptable. The technician who came last spring to turn on my irrigation system discovered several broken valves and had to shut the system off on the same visit-- so there was effectively no "turn‑on" service performed. Seven months later, I received an unexpected invoice for that visit. When I contacted their office, I was told the charge would stand, though they would waive a $25 late fee. I never received the original bill, and given that the "turn‑on" didn't actually happen, I don't believe this charge was fair. After 20 years of loyalty, being treated this way says a lot about how this company values its customers. I can no longer recommend Carney Irrigation and suggest looking elsewhere for an irrigation company that demonstrates fairness, accountability, and respect for long‑term clients. read more

Contracted Carney Irrigation to winterize my sprinkler system. My system uses an external pump that pulls water from a pond on my property. After the technician completed the winterization, I specifically asked if the pump had been drained. He assured me the system was fully winterized. In the spring, when we started the system back up, we discovered the pump had frozen over the winter and cracked due to not being drained. I contacted Rick Carney Irrigation and explained what happened. Two weeks later, they sent a technician to assess the issue, who confirmed the pump was cracked from freezing. Another week passed with no follow-up. I called again and was given the runaround, with a promise that someone would call me the next business day with a plan to fix the issue. That call never came. It has now been over a month, and they have stopped returning my calls and emails. I am left with a broken pump and a dead lawn. Do not give this company your business. You pay them for a service, and when they make a mistake, you will be left to cover the repairs. read more

They were very careful throughout the process and managed to complete the installation without damaging the yard. Honestly, the yard looks almost untouched. Morgan and his crew led the project, and Morgan did an exceptional job with both marking and placing the sprinklers precisely where they needed to go. My initial quote experience with Bob F. also went smoothly. I happened to catch him while he was doing a quote for my neighbor's yard. Since I was home that day, I asked if there was any chance he could squeeze me in for a quote as well. Without hesitation, he added me to his schedule right after finishing with my neighbor which I truly appreciated, as most companies typically require you to schedule a separate appointment for another day. Bob took the time to walk me through the number of zones needed and the types of products Carney Irrigation uses. Even after the initial quote, Bob followed up with me to see if I had any further questions or concerns. At no point did I feel pressured to move forward; in fact, he made it clear that Carney Irrigation would be available if and when I was ready, which I really appreciated. When it came to pricing, Carney Irrigation was very fair and reasonable. In fact, they offered the best pricing compared to other vendors I contacted for the same quality of products and services. If you're in the market for a new irrigation system, I highly recommend reaching out to Carney Irrigation. I understand the company has been under new management within the past year. While I can't speak to their past performance, I can confidently say the current management and team is outstanding. read more

Since the company got sold 2 years ago, service has been hit-or-miss. Last Fall, the inexperienced tech removed my backflow valve incorrectly. When the tech came to reinstall and turn it on this Spring, he broke it. Both of these guys were not well-trained. To make it right, they sent an old pro from the company, a very experienced tech, Jason Wyld, who did a fantastic job of putting in a new valve system, and there was no charge for the service on the valve. I just paid for my normal Spring turn-on service. Customer service confidence has been restored. I have been using them for 16 years and will continue to do so! Thanks for doing the right thing. Do you Need an irrigation system? So did I. I had estimates from 5 companies while I shopped, not so much for price, as someone I could count on. Rick Carney Irrigation advertised 25+ years in business. The referrals/recommendations showed it was a good company. But, the company was sold a year ago. The growing pains will cost you a great deal of money. I live in Lake of the Woods. My neighbor and I both bought a system. Installation on April 17 started the problems. The system did not work correctly despite the various "rules" (every other day watering so that we didn't take water pressure from each other). Resolution: We needed to buy a pump or our system wouldn't work (PSI in Lake of the Woods is about 35-40, a known statistic that has not changed. After installation, Bob shared that the system wouldn't work with less than 50-60PSI). Now, the price of our sprinkler system went up $425. We agreed and finally, the Simer pump was installed but after reading the owners manual, we discovered two things. First, the pump must be taken inside for the winter (pump was to have unions installed to allow this. They did not). Second, the pump could not get water on the motor. Our motor is installed outside and in direct aim of the sprinklers and they are wet! We contacted the manufacturer to make sure their directions were correct. They are. Our pump will fail. Bob Falconer promised the unions would be installed. They are not. He promised a "fake rock" to cover the pump to try to protect this (inside) pump. Now he says we can buy our own. Now, The price of our system went up another $250. 3 months later, our system is still not ok. The office staff is snarly. Bob seems overwhelmed. And we just wanted a sprinkler system. Keep looking. There are other companies out there. Make another choice while they figure out how to install sprinkler systems without changing pricing after installation, with proper equipment, and in an efficient way. read more

I shopped around for an irrigation system for my large property, not necessarily looking for the cheapest price, but a company I could trust and felt comfortable with. (you typically get what you pay for) Bob came out and spent considerable time with me answering my hundred questions as I had already interviewed several other companies and was somewhat educated on irrigation systems. Bob had a unique solution to providing the most economical solution around the pool in the backyard. The price I was quoted was within my budget whereas the other companies were way out of line, or I didn't feel comfortable with their approach or knowledge. I slept on it and pulled the trigger the next day. Extremely easy process. Bob scheduled the job within the tight time constraints I had. I couldn't have asked for more from the installation crew lead by Mogan. No complaints whatsoever so far and the system works as designed. A few days after the installation I had my lawn aerated and seeded an in the process a large rock crushed one of the newly installed lines. I called Bob to get information on repairing the pipe. Bob met me a few hours later and provided me with the fittings, pipe, and glue to make the simple repair. Bob even offered to come by on Saturday to do it for me. I scheduled my winterization, and the office staff seems excellent. If you are in the market for an irrigation system, I suggest you shop around but definitely call Rick Carney and ask for Bob to provide you an estimate. read more

I had Rick Carney Irrigation install my sprinklers this summer and it was a mistake. After the installation, my yard was flooding--like turning into a swamp flooding. After I asked them to come investigate, Rick Carney, I kid you not, blamed the clay in my soil because they couldn't find a leak. I insisted there was a problem and after a month of them digging up my yard, turning my sprinklers backwards and leaving them, and several other unprofessional occurrences, a crew discovered that they shredded not one but three drainage pipes when running the lines. According to their PM, this was my fault because the obvious pipes coming from my downspouts going into the ground were not marked. I finally stopped dealing with them after several bungled attempts to "fix" the issue they caused. I hired actual professionals and found out that Rick Carney's crews used duct tape to "seal" one drainage pipe and cut another one in half and reburied it which ended up flooding my yard... again. I highly recommend hiring anyone other than them to install your irrigation system. read more

They have continued to be nothing but positive for us.... Getting appointments for turn on/turn off service during busy seasons can be a wait, but to be expected as with other businesses. Haven't had any truly bad experiences with them. They installed our system in 2006, and we have had no problems either with the install or yearly maintenance we had them do on it twice yearly. This has been a total nightmare, please learn from our mistake and stay way from this company. Since the beginning, there has been nothing but unprofessionalism from this company. We signed the contract in March of this year to have the sprinkler system installed. The company kept cancelling and finally after threatening to cancel the contract, the system was finally installed in June. What was supposed to be a two day job turned into a 10 day job. One person started the job, another showed up in the middle of the day. The next day (which was sunday), only one person showed up to "complete" the job. Let's just say not much got done. When I called the office, the supervisor informed that he's not out there monitoring the workers and therefore he's not able to know who's working and who's not unless I reported it to him. After completely destroying my yard, the work was finally done. So I thought. I had to call them out so many times for so many reasons: the sprinkler heads weren't installed correctly, the connection wasn't secure so I had leaks, the connection wasn't connected to the proper area so the water pressure was low, it went on and on and on. I finally stopped calling and had my father in law fix the issues. Today was the last straw. I turned off the main water valve on thursday so they could winterize the sprinkler system. We were out of town and came back on sunday. We turned the main water supply back on and water came shooting out of the side of the house into the street. We turned the water supply to the house off again. We didn't know what the heck happened so we called the company. The phone calls started at 1:18 pm, the on call service had to call them twice before anyone call me back. Finally got a call back at 2:10 pm, a guy inform me that someone would be there within an hour. Called back around 3:50 and same guy said someone was on their way. The person who was supposedly on their way called me and said "I'm on 95 right now and 30 minutes away." Long story short, the first guy stopped answering my phone calls, and the person finally showed up around 5:20 pm. So I've had take my toddler to the bathroom at either the McDonald's and Burger King, here's it's 5:30 pm, and I haven't even started doing any laundry. Overall, if you want substandard service with poor customer service then go ahead and hire Rick Carney Irrigation. Trust me when I say that it has not been a fun ride. Very, very, very unsatisfied with the work and service. read more

I had a sprinkler system installed by Carney irrigation a couple of years ago. The quality of parts and workmanship has turned out to be incredibly poor. Major leaks 3 times, faulty solenoids, and each time we paid for repairs the service persons declared that whoever did the work before did a crappy job. Apparently a big turnover in labor with this company. This system was installed at my parents house, and during installation the service persons asked my father if they could borrow an extension cord to run some power tools . When they set up the electrical controller for the system, instead of setting up a safe, dedicated power source, they used the cheap extension cord that they had.borrowed from my elderly father. This November, during a light rain, the connection at the extension cord caught fire, and had my father not seen it and put the fire out it could have been serious. As it was, $ 1000 worth of damage occurred to the electric system of the sprinkler system, along with a burned up tree Carney has been completely unaccountable , refusing to replace the system without cost. Mr. Carney hasn't had time to talk to me about it. I seriously recommend to anyone considering using Carney to use ANYONE else. Carney irrigation are terribly unprofessional, and just plain lousy in service. Don't use Carney. read more

I had called another local company who were supposed to show up on Tuesday, November 6th between 8-12 p.m. to winterize the sprinkler system in the home we are renting. Nobody from that company ever showed. When I called back, they said their repair guy was out and about but would definitely be there before the end of the day. He never showed. I had a busy day the next day and called on Thursday asking if the guy ever planned on coming out. I never received a phone call back. I called Carney Irrigation in complete frustration after finding them on Google and was very pleased with their courteous, friendly receptionist. She was very kind and personable. Much better service than this other company who didn't even answer the phone when you called. She got my information and told me someone would be out between 12-6 p.m. two days later. Her contractor showed up at 12 p.m. and was extremely professional. The job was done quickly and I couldn't be happier. I'm recommending Carney to the homeowners of this house we are renting because of their outstanding service. By the way, that other contractor? He finally showed up...on Friday, lying and saying they had been here on the day scheduled and nobody was home (absolute lie!). We were home and waiting impatiently for him for four hours! If you want honest, PROFESSIONAL service...Call these guys. They charge $15 more than that other guy, but at least they will be there when they say they will and will give good, dependable service. Rick Carney installed out sprinkler system in 2001. We have been using them ever since each spring and fall to turn on the sprinkler / back flow testing and to winterize in the fall. Prior to this past year I probably would have rated them 3-4 stars. I have been satisfied with their service until the last couple of years. Last summer my husband noticed water pooling around one of the sprinkler heads. I asked them to take a look when winterizing but never got any feedback. This spring when they came to turn on the sprinkler I mentioned that we had an issue with one of the sprinkler heads and that I was not sure if they took care of the problem in the fall. They came back after doing the back flow testing and said everything looked fine and was working as it is supposed to. A day later my husband notice a swampy area around the problem sprinkler head. I called Rick Carney and they wanted to charge me $50 to come out and take a look. I argued that I mentioned it during both the fall and spring visits and they told me everything was fine. They agreed to come out for no charge and take a look. The gentleman who was here was young and said there were no problems. He said it was just because it was downhill that it was just draining from the pipe. I tried to tell the guy that it had never done this before last year but he kept insisting there was nothing wrong. Well I think we know what is normal and what isn't after owning the sprinkler for over 30 years. We will be looking for a new company to take care of our system. read more

If I could put zero stars I would. We had Rick Carney install our sprinkler system over 5 years ago. Last year when we had an appointment for opening and repairs, they sent one person out who showed up an hour late. He opened the system and only repaired one of the 5 items that were to be done. I spent an hour running back and forth to my basement for this guy turning the system on and off. Let me repeat ... I was the one running back and forth!!! He told me he had to leave and would probably charge a fee to come back out. I called the office and talked with the person answering explaining what happened. I never got a call back after reaching out several times. We had a new company come this year and found out they hadn't installed a back flow on the system and we were not within code. I absolutely would never recommend this company. The owner has always been rude and the past few years we had them the work was subpar. DO NOT use them. read more

Not for nothing...beware of the tactics. We have invested about $1000 into our preexisting sprinkler system and have not seen a sprinkle of water. We have been billed time after time, set up multiple appointments that have either been cancelled, missed, or just plain late!! (ie 8-12 window and show up at 7:30pm or 8:30pm..or not at all). Not to mention...I have taken 4 entire days off this year to deal with the sprinkler issues and we still do not have a resolution. We have requested that the owner call in reference to the issue multiple times, but to no avail. So in essence, run don't walk if you desire your sprinkler system to be operational in less than 5 years and maybe $2,500 of useless repairs. read more

I was looking around for estimates and saw some bad reviews about Rick Carney . Don't believe everything you read. Some people just like to bash business. I highly recommend Rick Carney. Brian and his crew checked out the system and made necessary adjustments to the nozzles to cover the whole yard. He took time to install the wi-fi app and explain all the features of the control panel. And they cleaned up the yard before they left. I called to inquire about someone coming out to diagnose an issue and possible repair of my sprinkler system. A VERY helpful woman (I believe her name is Lindsay) asked what the specific issue was. After explaining, she concluded it sounded like a simple stuck valve and gave me instruction to troubleshoot. After 15 minutes and saving the cost of a service call, the issue was resolved and system is back up and running fine. They could have simply sent someone out and billed me for it but, instead, took a few extra minutes to give me some knowledge and save me some money. They will definitely be my first call in the future should I have another issue and i will recommend them to others. read more

This company used to be good, but their service and ability to diagnose a basic irrigation issue on a system they installed is horrifying at this point. We called them out to fix a pressure issue with the system when we tried to turn it on this year. Technician came on first visit, spent 2 minutes and said the backflow needed to be rebuilt, he didn't have any parts on him so could not do it at that visit 110 bill later (mind you they rebuilt it 7 years earlier on the 1st visit for the exact same issue). Came on the 2nd visit, rebuilt the backflow (still didn't work) and said now there are valves stuck that are causing the problem and they would need to reschedule another appointment to fix those (they had no parts with them to fix it) 250 dollas later AND it had to be paid for them to agree to schedule the 3rd visit. Came on the 3rd visit with valves in hand but said they couldn't fix the valves b/c it needed a whole new backflow (of course he didn't have one with him) and left me a bill for another 110 dollas. By this point, I lost confidence that the technician was even capable of diagnosing or fixing the problem. I called and spoke to a woman who answered the phone who was less than accommodating (and acted very much like a gatekeeper), and I requested to speak to the owner so I could get a sense that 1) he knew what was going on with these multiple visits that should have been handled on the 1st visit had they brought basic parts with them; 2) so I could gain some confidence that they could actually fix the problem; and 3) to address why I needed to pay whopping service visit fees each time they came out due simply to their inability to diagnose properly and carry basic parts and when no service was being performed (system still didn't turn on). As far as I could tell, the need for multiple additional new visits with no resolution was inevitably on the horizon. Office mgr (instead of the owner) calls back and says I don't have to pay 1 service fee, and that she would be glad to reschedule for them to come out for the 4th visit. She then explains that the owner is very busy, so it would be difficult for him to return my call. I respectfully requested AGAIN that the owner return my call so this could be discussed. No call for a week, I called and spoke to the same gatekeeper and again requested a call from the owner to discuss. No call for a week again, and I again requested a call back from the owner to discuss. After another week went by, I gave up. I researched and called another irrigation company to come out and fix the problem explaining the problem as I did initially to Rick Carney, and he came out 2 days later, fixed the problem, and charged 1/2 the price that I had already paid to Rick Carney and we are now up and running (it's Fall now, and this process started 3 months ago). This is absolute ridiculous customer service and shoddy diagnosing a problem abilities. I will never use them again, and I will actively warn anyone that cares about their wallet and getting decent irrigation repair work or installation of a system done away from them. Horrible Horrible company now. STAY AWAY........ read more

I had an appointment between 12:00 and 5:00 pm to get a cost estimate for moving sprinkler heads to accommodate the construction of a new walkway. On the day of my appointment I remained home all day waiting for the service technician. He arrived at 5:34 pm after I left home. The time was on my answering machine when he called to say he was outside. He left a copy of an invoice in my mailbox stating no one would returned his calls although he did not reveal when he called. The invoice did contain enough information to suggest I was the problem. He also said someone will call me on Monday to reschedule. No one called. When I called on Tuesday, the office representative stated the reason I didn't receive service was because I wasn't home. She asked if I wanted to reschedule. Normally I would say yes, but since nothing spoken indicated an apology, I declined. She then surly remarked, "Thank you for calling, have a nice day", and hung up. read more
