Michael & Son must have plenty of customers because they certainly don't seem concerned about keeping them. I filed a complaint over a year ago after they installed an attic fan, and I never received so much as a response. That experience should have been a warning. On the day of the scheduled installation, I was notified they were running late. Because I had another commitment, I had to cancel, and we agreed to reschedule for Saturday. When Saturday arrived, the technician told me he wasn't there to install the unit--he was there to collect a fee that, according to my contract, wasn't due until the installation was completed. That made no sense. I declined to pay early and sent him on his way. Fast forward to this week: after calling on Monday because my air conditioner wasn't working, I had to wait four days for service despite being a membership customer. When they finally arrived, I was charged $350 to replace a part that costs about $21. I was then told I had received several "huge discounts" because I'm supposedly a loyal customer. It certainly didn't feel that way. To be fair, every technician I've dealt with has been courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. My issue isn't with the field technicians--it's with the way the company is managed. The office staff has consistently been unresponsive, dismissive, and unwilling to address legitimate customer concerns. Promises are made but not kept, complaints go unanswered, and customer service appears to be an afterthought. I cannot recommend Michael & Son based on my experiences. There are plenty of HVAC companies that value their customers. Michael & Son either has no idea what's happening with its customer service, or it has decided that maximizing profit is more important than earning long-term customer loyalty. Either way, customers deserve better. read more

Michael & Son has been really great so far helping my husband and I sort out a water damage issue in our finished basement caused by a leaking / defective hose bib. Joshua the electrician troubleshot all the wall sockets and appliances, light switches, etc., ensuring wiring was operational and nobody would have to worry about being electrocuted. Peter removed the damaged hose bib and replaced it with an upgrade - far less likely to be damaged by cold weather - specially designed to not freeze or crack. Kimberly and her team - led by Marquis - have been working to remediate mold, mildew, and flooring and drywall that got wet, and now we are waiting on our claims adjuster to see the site so we can get it restored. Nicholas as fantastic. Arrived in the time window and got to work making sure the system was in good shape. Recommended a chemical cleaning of the outside system as it is near the dryer vent and has a tendency to get coated in lint. An ounce of prevention... This is the company that installed the system two years ago so they were very familiar with the operation of it. Nicholas was part of the team that did the install and reminded me he had been in training at that time. I mentioned that the install team was supposed to divert the dryer vent to avoid the buildup of lint on the system. We have used Michael & Son Service once before for some work in our home, so when the power went out in our Barndo/Shop where we run our at home business, we called Michael & Son. When I called to make an appointment, I spoke with the scheduling service representative. This person was very kind while I explained the electrical needs of the Barndo/Shop. The wiring in the shop is not for a new electrician. While speaking with the representative, I asked if they could come out between 03JAN2026 and 05JAN2026 because there was no power to the building. The representative said the could send someone today (03JAN2026) between the hours of 3:30pm - 6:00pm. I asked if this was a regular appointment, and not an emergency appointment because I didn't want to pay the extra fee and the representative said this was a regular appointment. I accepted the appointment, and he assured me everything was annotated and an experienced electrician would be out today. Perfect! Several hours later, I get a call at 3:30pm from Michael & Son dispatch office and I am asked if a newer electrical person would be able to come out to my residence because they don't have an experienced electrician available today. I explained that would not work. She apologized and said she will have to reschedule me. I explained to the dispatcher I was fine with rescheduling but it needed to be by Monday. She said their next available appointment was in 10 days. I asked the dispatcher why was I told they had availability today when in fact they don't? She said it is a scheduling service and they always overbook. She further explained she could have an experienced electrician come out as an emergency, but there would be a $170.00 fee. I told the dispatcher this was not acceptable, and the fee should be waived. She said she could not waive the fee as she has tried before, but her supervisor can't approve it. I responded, "can't or won't?" She didn't respond. The amount of hours wasted waiting for our appointment to begin, only to be canceled at the projected appointment timeframe, is time I can't get back. I could have hired a different company today had I known Michael & Son wouldn't be able to fulfill the job. I am well aware the dispatcher has no control over the extra fees charged by the company, nor does the dispatcher have control over the scheduling company. This is not an issue with the dispatcher at all, she is only the messenger. She was very kind and apologetic. My issue is with the higher ups/supervisors. If your scheduling company is overbooking, and making promises you can't keep, then you all need to fix it or find a different scheduling company. To have a returning customer call you in their time of need, and then bail on that customer is problematic. Additionally, to not admit you all screwed up, and then still demand an emergency charge to be dispatched, that is diabolical. That is not how you keep customers. As a result, I will not use you all again. Your company made a mistake, and can't stand by their word. You all made an appointment, and didn't follow through. You blamed the scheduling company you all hired, you know they have problems and yet you continue to utilize them. Then, when the mistake happens on your watch, you refuse to waive an emergency fee to the customer in need as a good faith apology. That is not ethical. A company is only as good as their word. A customer will continue to return when they are treated with respect. A customer will also return when a company admits a mistake, and then fixes it. This is Customer Service 101. Michael & Son, you have failed that course. read more

Michael & Son performed high-voltage electrical work at my home in October 2025 without obtaining legally required permits. * Safety Violation: They installed a 16-amp bidet on a shared 15-amp circuit, creating a fire hazard and causing total power failures on my 3rd floor during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. * Failed Inspection: The work failed county inspection on Jan 2 because it was performed in an illegal state and then concealed by drywall due to their 60-day administrative delay. * Financial Impact: I am out $950 in cash for their errors, plus a $3,000 debt for work that nullified my new home builder's warranty. * Unprofessional: When confronted with the permit violation, the electrical manager yelled at me and hung up. However, I was told the $69 "diagnosis" fee would be deducted from the final price if I went ahead with the service, and as far as I can see from the invoice it wasn't. And, worse than that, the problem isn't fixed. The tech fixed the worn out hot water stem but there's also a leak from the cold water side. So it seems he didn't even look at that side.
