Amazing tasting burritos that can be regular or super. You can also get it mild or spicy. The taste is superb and I usually drive from Davis to Dixon to get these burritos. I only came once before and didn't like the customer service, the person ringing me up had a nasty attitude but decided to go there real quick since I was next door in little Cesar's. I went in to get a couple of items and went up to where they have the fresh cheese and meat. I asked one of the employees for some cheese and she tried to cut it with a knife that was already next to the cheese and wasn't able to cut through the cheese and instead grabbed a knife that was on the raw meat and I could see there still being blood and pieces of meat on the teeth of the knife and she cut the fresh cheese with it. I brought it to her attention and told her I didn't want it anymore and she looked annoyed and said okay a put the piece of cheese back. She did look younger but I think it's common sense not to cross contaminate and I hop they are all food handlers certified but from what it seems I don't think they are. I've seen in the reviews many people bringing up the sanitation of the place so maybe they should do something about it. read more

Carniceria Lupitas is awesome, their burritos, tacos, and tortilla chips, all rock, I have been in Dixon for 23 years and been there several times, and even with friends who live out of town, and some of my friends are super picky and they loved CL. In fact they were passing through one time and stopped there and didn't even tell me they were in town, THE NERVE, lol. I had the carnita super burrito. The problem was the first 1/4 of the burrito only had rice and beans. Then finally got to the carnita which was ok. Not until halfway through was there any flavor with the salsa. The place is also a little grocery store. There are no places to sit inside, luckily my car made it out without eating burrito as well. Hands down my favorite burrito kitchen... not just mine but my entire family. I have a picky 15 year old, he absolutely loves the large bean, rice and cheese burrito with a horchata. My wife bounces between the chicken burrito and the chicken street tacos. I have a bit more variety, favorite meat pastor (pork). Favorite dish, not so easy. The cheese enchiladas with green chili sauce is insane good. The tostados with pastor OMG! Recently I have even had the street tacos (pastor) with a tamale. But, the typical go to item is a large pastor burrito. I will change this up from time to time and have it as a breakfast burrito (egg added). You serious can not go wrong. The customer service is outstanding. The owner is very pleasant, and the staff is prompt courteous, and kind! read more

The little Mexican boy in me (not like that...geez Nando...) rode his bike over to get some rice, beans and salsa to accompany the "cochinita pibil" in the slow cooker this evening. Rice- good, though I'm not sure how one could mess that up. Beans- you'd think the same, but these beans are super tasty/flavorful. Hence, me getting these instead of opening up a can of Rosarita. I stopped in to buy some Chili Verdi takeout. The people were friendly and the service was what one would expect. The products were not priced and I failed to ask before ordering. At check-out I was surprised to find the price for 1 LB of Chili Verdi in a styrofoam cup was $16. I paid the clerk thinking this is going to be some gooood Chili Verdi....It wasn't, the pork was on the tough side of the scale and the sauce was watery. I won't be back anytime soon. read more

My family goes to this place at least 4 times a week. But today we disappointed in our service. They messed up on my order when I took it back inside the young guy who helped me was very rude. And acted like I was inconveniencing him cause him cause he had to remake the food correctly. Sorry I want what I paid for. Then he slams my food on the counter like I'm a dog. We love Lupitas's and the ladies there are really nice but our service today was not. So very sad one person can change your opinion. read more

The carnitas here are pretty good. We always get them here for parties and get-togethers, and everyone says they're yummy. Not the best I ever had (that'd be in SF), but definitely hold they're own. We've also had the rice and beans for our parties, and everything seems to enjoy. The store is smaller, but they have an abundance of items. Service is fast and friendly. Plus, it's right off the freeway so you can make quick stops for a yummy paleta :) read more

Nice little find. I had the carnitas tacos and ordered chicken tamales to go. The tacos were very good. Salsa not to mild and not too hot, just right. Carnitas moist and crunchy. Yum. When I got home I realized they gave me meat tamales instead of chicken. Okay, they were good, moist not dry and just right amount of masa. Very typical taqueria with a mini mart with mainstays. I've called them multiple times to speak to the owner about this and either I've been hung up on or given the run around.. finally when I speak to the owner they refuse to do anything about it.. now they are telling me they don't serve Tripas! I agree with the 4* average rating here. Tried this place a few times while in the area for work staying in walking distance. I went in early due to some reviews talking about long wait times. Was in there around 3pm one day, got there just in time because a line come in behind me & they had to wait to even order until some of the current orders were completed. Tried the carnitas & asada street tacos, the carnitas is definitely the way to go, very good!, wasn't a fan of the asada it just seemed too dry for me. Also had a Reg size shrimp burrito a few times, paid for extra shrimp after the first one since I don't like a lot of bites of tortilla & rice (I don't get beans in it). Shrimps are good sized & taste fresh, seems they kind of blacken them on the grill, & the burrito is only $7+ so it's actually a good deal for the size of it & containing shrimp, the burrito & 2 carnitas tacos is all I can eat & I'm full! The 1st trip I got grilled onions & roasted poblano pepper with each order of tacos, 2nd trip nothing, maybe since it was a different staff? No consistency! Not much personality in most of the staff, but the blond lady (who may own the place not sure) was very friendly & helpful asking if I wanted this or that to make the food to my liking. Just get there early, I couldn't imagine going in around 5pm, or call the order in so you're not standing in a line with a good wait. read more

Carniceria Lupita is a small, but well-stocked Mexican grocery store with all types of packaged and fresh foods. The real deal. Notable is its meat deli where you can get freshly cooked Mexican dishes such as tacos, tamales, burritos, etc. Prepared while you wait. I like their super burritos with choice of meat from their deli counter. The food here is better than at the nearby Mexican restaurants and far better than Taco Bell. Strictly take out food. A regular sized burrito is $5.99 which is a good value to me. I recommend getting lengua (tongue) because it's so good, but it costs $.80 extra. For burritos you get asked if you want mild or hot salsa, but if you're picky/allergic you can also ask to omit certain things. It can take a while to get your order if somebody else placed a large order, so I would recommend ordering in advance online or by calling. read more
