No parking in front, only side street parking. We ended up parking in a lot but later discovered that the lot was for another business. Oops. The Italian sausage we bought was tasty and well seasoned that is a great sausage. The overlord and nixtaco were ok, 3/5. Good sausages are made here. The ribeye we bought was cut funny and not as tender as we are used to. Go somewhere else for steaks. We will probably not return. read more

Saw their instagram post about their "limited edition" breakfast sandwich and was sorely disappointed (if not angry) about their $14 mostly bread based sandwich. Go to the Coop instead. Crispy and fully of flavor... went so well with my scallops.. Take it up a notch: dry aged rib eye-!!! $42.99 and just weighing in over a lb.. but So delish, melting in your mouth with each slice just so tender... Next trip: dog treats for my furrbabies! I love the meat quality here! I feel the prices are reasonable for the meat quality. They also have some items in the fridge that you can purchase like the chicken pot pie and beef Wellington! I love a legitimate butcher shop almost as much as I love legitimate coffee shops. I actually found this shop because another butcher was closed, on Saturday afternoon, at 1 pm. SMH. So, I gotta say this and it's a blanket statement that goes for all butcher shops. Once you try bacon at a butcher shop, you'll never look at your packaged bacon the same way. It's true what they say. Once you go black (coffee that is, silly geese) you just never go back. I bought a pound of the dirty bacon, which is rubbed down with their espresso blend and jts really good. I made an apple, onion and bacon jam for my pork rib eye and that bacon hits different. Not too salty and clearly not soaked in funky solution for shelf life. Fresh, clean, fatty goodness. I have never seen or even heard of a pork rib eye, until this day. I got one and it was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of fattyness and the color was deep and rich and boy. This was an awesome chunk of pig and I devoured every single bite. Cooked to a perfect medium using the MEATER probe and it was delicious. I'll be back for the pork porterhouse next time. I also picked up a dry aged rib eye of beef. That's what you're looking at in my photos. Visually, it was almost perfect. It was not cheap but it never is when you focus on quality rather than quantity. Unfortunately, it ate really dry and I was shocked. As you can see, it was cooked to perfection and allowed to rest. But, it lacked the deep, rich, and robust beefy flavor of a dry aged steak. Bummer because much like myself in school, it had such great potential. The store is tiny but packs a massive punch with lots of fresh sausage, bacon, pork, beef and so many wonderful options. I looooove getting sausages here! I have tried those and the lamb meatballs are to die for. I have not gotten a bad thing here. I have also gotten a few other random things for my doggos like the bones and they used to have some ground up bits I think they sold as dog food. It's been a while so I don't really remember, but they always love a treat from V. Miller. Guys that work here are pretty friendly and will offer you advice on stuff to pair with your meat course. This place is definitely a quality over quantity establishment! I've been looking around for a local butcher that carries good meats for a decent price; while they're meats are quality, it's definitely not a price category that will fit everyone's budget. Pack your. patience when you visit this place. i went in around 11am on Dec, 23, Were they busy? Yes. Was I patient? Yes. Until I wasn't. I approached the counter and asked for a gift certificate. A tall blonde guy with glasses told me to go over to the register and they would help me. Customer #1 gets rung up and the guy behind the counter turns away from me and goes back to what he was doing. Customer #2 gets rung up and a different guy behind the counter turns away from me and goes back to what he was doing. Customer#3 gets rung up and a guy I believe is the owner turns away from me and goes back to what he was doing. I am now the only one in the shop and not one person has looked me in the eye. I had to raise my voice and ask if one of the 6 men just a few feet away from me could help me. All I wanted was a was a 30 second transaction. Was it because I am a woman that I was ignored? I really want to like V. Miller. I value a good butcher shop with well-raised meats, and the customer service I've had shopping there has been pretty good. But it just repeatedly falls short as a butcher shop. The inventory is not that good. Often they will be lacking a number of common cuts of meat, for example, pork shoulder. Recently I was looking for some less common items: beef liver, bison liver, lamb liver. V. Miller told me they only ever offer beef liver, and it only comes in stock sometimes then sells out fast. I called the Sac Co-op and they had all three types of liver in stock right then. And the Co-op's meat department isn't even very big. They also put sodium nitrite in all their processed meats. Bacon, sausage, pate, etc. All with nitrites. It's been established that the nitrites react with proteins in meat to produce nitrosamines, which have been connected to cancer, migraines, and other health risks. read more

This place is fantastic. I come in every week for all my meats and broth. The customer service is incredible! I had never been to a butcher shop or meat store before so I was a little intimidated walking in, but Eric and Eric (I think one of them might be the manager) were so helpful and generous on my first visit, I knew I'd be a regular customer pretty quickly. The place is super clean with no weird smells. Laura or Lauren (I can't remember her name, sorry), helped me on my next visit and I became an official FAN of this place. She helped me discover my favorite steak to cook: flat iron steak, and made my life easier by vacuum sealing all the meats I was going to freeze! YUM. I came in for the first time this weekend and got some bone-in "ribeye" pork chops that were, hands down, the best pork my husband or I had ever had. The staff were able to direct me to the gluten-free sausage options. We got The Overlord (paprika and fennel? anise? caraway? One of those--delicious), the Pizzawurst (reminiscent of sausage pizza toppings, drier than the other two but still really good), and the Spicy Potsticker (tasted just like it sounds, and so good!). I'll absolutely be back for more sausage and pork, and I'd love to try their soups, duck confit, and beef as well. I had two kids in tow and the three staff left us alone (despite us being the only people in the store) until I reached out. Let me preface this by saying that being from Louisiana, it is hard to find good, affordable sausage outside of my home state. I have lived in NYC and LA, and after poor experiences in both of those areas, I had almost given up on trying to find Cajun-style sausage outside of Louisiana. That is until I found V. Miller Meats. I was craving my parents' red beans and rice with sausage, but I did not have any of my dad's homemade deer sausage left. I came by V. Miller Meats on a Friday afternoon looking for some cuts of meat to grill at a barbecue with my neighbors later that evening. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked into the shop and when I explained what I was looking for, the workers were extremely helpful in narrowing down some tasty options for me to choose from. I finally settled on Denver steak cuts of beef. They suggested a particular steak rub to marinate the meat in before cooking it. They even told me the best way to cook the meat which I found very helpful because I don't grill very often. Later that evening, after marinating the meat with the dry rub I purchased and cooking the steaks as they instructed, I was extremely satisfied with the taste and quality of the meat I purchased. They offer so many different cuts and types of meat (lamb, pork, beef, chicken). They also have a nice selection of dry rubs, sauces, spices, and other seasonings.
