I love TM! The prices can't be beat and the staff is always super friendly and helpful. My favorite thing to get are the pork skewers ($13.99/dzn) but I know the Korean short ribs are a hit too. For the skewers, they provide a basting sauce but I try not to use too much so my skewers don't get too salty. Baste responsibly!! You can visit or call ahead a few days before if you have a special or bulk order but I prefer to go in so I can prepay so I know my order is taken care of and ready the day of pick up. Korean ribs at TM are about 10 dollars a lb and at other places like KP or 99 Ranch, you can find the unmarinated 1lb Korean ribs at 12 dollars. I like to come early in the weekends. Sometimes there is a line but it moves pretty quickly. It's in the Filipino shopping mall so after I grab my meats I go and eat at the Seafood City next door. I highly recommend pre-ordering or pick up your meat items a few days early to avoid the long line. Part II: The chicken was hit. The flavor was 10/10. I might have forgot to mention in my first review the baby shower party was in Ceres, CA. The meat was sealed. There was a tiny leak in the Saran wrapped disposable trays. I suggest if you are picking up a large order laying a trash bag in the trunk/backseat or cooler. Most of the meats from TM meat market are marinated and the liquid will settle at the bottom of the trays. So many guests complimented the chicken flavor. Pro tip: do not pick up on weekends if you can avoid it. The lines are long and they regularly run out. We picked up our order at noon on Friday and it was pretty empty. If you've never been a guest in a Filipino person's home... Lola (the matriarch) won't say, "Hello" or "How are you?" She will say, "Did you eat yet? You go eat now!" You best listen to Lola before she rips the gigantic wooden fork off her wall and comes after you! J/k. "Did you eat yet?" is the Filipino way of saying "Hello" and to show their hospitality. I haven't been to my Filipina coworker's house but she often comes into my office offering food; adobo, menudo, kaldereta, pancit, turon, etc. She recently came in and asked, "Want some Embutido?" I have childhood memories of Embutido: Filipino Meatloaf tasting dry AF and crumbly. During family gatherings, I would cover it with my crumpled used napkin so whoever made (or bought) it wouldn't know I didn't finish it. :T So, I politely declined. "No, you have to try it!" "Ok, just a tiny bite." Well that "tiny bite" turned into several more "tiny bites"..... Followed by "OMG, can you please make more?!" The Embutido was rich, savory, and moist with raisins, relish, and worcestershire adding a deliciously tangy sweet bite. There's even some cheese because you know Filipinos love to make it extra artery-clogging. The texture is more sausage-y than meatloaf-y. And, there's no hard boiled egg or hot dogs in the middle. I prefer it this way. Just purely addictive porky goodness. Everyone who tried it at work went cray over it. Turns out this Embutido is from TM Meat Market in Sac. After I raved about it, my other coworker who has a weekend house nearby was kind enough to buy me three loaves ($6 each) to take home. The Embutido is steamed in foil and sold fully cooked. If you're not able to enjoy it within a couple of days, freeze it. When you're ready to use the Embutido, thaw it, wrap the loaf in wet paper towels, microwave it for about 2-3 minutes (depending on the power of your microwave), then slice it. Or, you can steam it to keep it extra moist but I'm too impatient. Embutido is usually eaten with steamed rice and banana ketchup. You can also make mini sandwiches with pan de sal (Filipino bread rolls). I like to make Ssämbap-style Korean rice lettuce wraps with sushi rice and pickled red onions (didn't have kimchi on-hand) to make it seem a little "healthier". Whatever you choose to eat the Embutido with, it doesn't matter because it's BOMB. TM Meat Market hands down makes the BEST Embutido I've had! read more
