I went in for their prepared meats and apparently I didn't even order the correct prepared meat that Julio usually gets. There were several people inside shopping, waiting for food, and as I was leaving several people came in for meats from the carnerceria! Pricing is fair, let's be real, rent in this area is probably high and also it's great to support local independent family owned businesses. Facility is very spacious inside. Lots of parking in the back. Multiple entrance points. I like the atmosphere. It's really humble and chill. Will definitely be back for the prepared meats. If you speak Spanish major plus! This Mexican takeout joint is in the back of a grocery store on Sherman Way. The unassuming location hides one of the best kept secrets in Canoga Park. Tacos a mano are loaded with meat over a large homemade corn tortilla. The mole sauce is decent- the chicken mole dish with refried beans, cheese, rice, and tortillas is a bargain at under $10. The torta is easily top 3 flavorwise in the Valley, but it is smaller than what you would get from other places like Casa de Papi. I've only had one bad dish here- the enchiladas taste like grade school cafeteria food. It's worth paying a quarter for street parking to make a stop here. read more

I haven't tried much from this store, but I am a teacher at a nearby school. Parents used to bring tamales from this location. They were absolutely amazing! After that, I started going there. Today I went there to buy tamales. They were rather tasteless, dry. I then noticed that they are buying them premade from the same place that Vallarta andGonzales supermarkets are now buying from. I eat anything and love it all, but these tamales are awful. I've had them from the other two stores as well. Maybe they make them homemade as they did in the past for weekends, I don't know. Everything is made, fresh to order in an open kitchen and comes out piping hot and delicioso!Highly recommend the Taco a mano (Taco w/ handmade tortilla) with Carne Asada (grilled steak) or Chicharrón, Bistec Ranchero (Skirt steak w/ potato in red sauce), Chilaquiles and Nacho Asada (Super nacho w/ grilled steak, cheese, crema, cilantro and salsa). Be sure to ask for either con salsa roja (red) or salsa verde (green) sauce! Service: The gentleman that took my order was super nice and friendly, even though I keep annoyingly trying to converse in broken Spanish. My first time visiting Carniceria Rodriguez today and I most definitely will be back! I ordered a Chile Relleno plate and was amazed to open my container when I got home to see a LARGE Chile Relleno absolutely STUFFED with cheese surrounded by a batter that looked just like my Mama used to make when I was growing up! I have not found a Relleno anywhere outside my Mama's kitchen that was as authentic and delicious as this one was....or as LARGE!! I also tried their Chicharrones Taco in their homemade corn tortilla which was packed with flavor. Took a dozen of their homemade corn tortillas home and they were so yummy...just added a little butter & salt on top and had my total food bliss moment...lol. Besides the food being a fantastic surprise, their prices were low in comparison to the amount of food you receive. Amazing fresh meat came in and got 30 pounds of asada the butcher prepped it fresh for me and seasoned it to perfection for the big game on Sunday. Small selection of produce but it gots everything you need for a good Mexican BBQ! Great hot food while you wait as well, it took them about 20 minutes to get my order out but I had some bomb tacos in the restaurant inside while I waited so the wait could have been longer lol! Food was under seasoned and carne asada had a lot of fat. Soup(Caldo de res) had a lot of squash and one carrot lol. I just looked into yelp for a new place to try some burritos and I came upon this restaurant. My family and I will never go back to this place. We spent $80.00 for some cold food. The guy working Sunday night at 6:15pm is a D-bag for telling me that I can warm my food in the microwave. He gave 15 minutes for my food to be ready. We got there 20 minutes later. He made us wait another 10 Minutes. After telling me that I could warm up my food in the microwave he said it's not my fault you got here late. I just replied thank you for everything. But really wanted to go off on him this is the kind of service we do not need in a Restaurant Bussiness . WE DIDNT GET THERE LATE IF YOU HAD US WAIT ANOTHER 10 minutes guey!
