Lengua Taco for $2.50. The price is right, but the taco isn't. I have been on a tongue taco kick and this was the only place on Ubereats that offered them when I was looking for dinner. I used to wonder why this place was always empty every time I passed by. Came for the first time yesterday. Ordered in english and was made fun of by the restaurant workers for not knowing spanish. WARNING: If you want cheese, tomato, and lettuce on your $13.99 steak dinner taco they add another $3.87 which is not shown on the menu. Also if you change from corn tortilla to a flour tortilla it is also another $2.25. That steak taco dinner which was very fatty ended up costing almost $20.00 Can of soda is $2.00. Tried the carnitas and the meat was a bit dry and did not have much flavor, to be far they were tried later in the day so the meat might have been smearing for a while. Additionally had asada burrito (lettuce appeared to be old and not much flavor to meat), Hawaiian torta(really good and flavorful) and quesadilla roja w/ carnitas(was not what I expected and tortilla was to soggy). This place is really good! It is casual and perfect for my college life stature of living! I got two tacos for 3 bucks, and later realized they had a special: 5 tacos for 4 dollars!! The tacos are amazing because they are completely handmade, fresh, and steaming when served on a foam plate. You can tell all of the ingredients are cut up and freshly served. We ordered steak tacos, a nachos appetizer, and a horchata for delivery to the house. We placed the order with no issues and even received a confirmation email that our order will be delivered in 20 minutes. I called the restaurant just to confirm everything, and the lady who answered said that they weren't delivering and that the person who normally does was not working today. I let her know that there was nothing posted about the restaurant not delivering today, and that we had placed our order already and paid a delivery fee. She then agreed that they would deliver the food. Fast forward 35 minutes and our food arrives. Starving, we opened up the bag and find the steak tacos that we ordered. They were extremely bland and lacked flavor compared to other tacos that we have had. Being avid travelers, we have tried many different restaurants and types of Mexican food, so we know good tacos and these were far from that. Then we find that the nachos we had ordered were nothing like what we paid for. We had ordered the regular nachos, which come with beans, cheese, ripe avocado, and sea salt. Excellent food! Unique menu option not just Tacos and Tortas. I was pleased to see that they served barbacoa made from lamb. Not many Mexican restaurants have this dish on their menu but they do! Takeout on Cinco de Mayo! I am such a gringo! The chimichanga my wife had was perfection. Kids had steak tacos and my steak quesadilla on fresh tortilla was good. Guacamole was a little heavy on onions and citrus. Really enjoyed the homemade chips and salsa. The chips were a little thicker and salsa was had just the right kick. Some of the best Mexican food can be found in corner "dives". This place is actually not a dive and has very good burritos, quesadillas, hueraches. First time for me on the huaraches with nopal. Just stopped in for the umpteenth time. Same great food and service. My husband and I love their huaraches. Aurora has tons of Mexican places but unfortunately most aren't worth a revisit. I will be honest. When I first walked in I was a bit hesitant to eat there. The place could use some TLC. I was quickly greeted by the waitress/chef/owner. The food is to die for. I can describe it as, true authentic home cooked meal. I ordered the Huarache and is still my favorite dish. I have taken a large party for dinner and spent less than $80! Small place right on the corner of Lincoln and New York. It seemed like a half-restaurant half ice cream parlor. Got the chicken enchiladas with a steak gordita. Both were pretty decent. Over the last year and a half, I've frequented over 20+ Mexican restaurants in search of the best tacos. My quest led me to La Mina on Thursday (02/24) for their dollar taco special. The business was previously Taqueria Mexico. The building is old so it could use some remodeling. There was a weird smell towards the counter that forced me to move. It smelled like rotten dairy if that makes sense. I ordered my food to go. The tacos are huge and the portions of meat are good as well. The meat was seasoned well and tasty but it had allot of fat. The cilantro to onion ratio was horrific. One taco had a bunch of cilantro and hardly no onions. I hope they correct that. The tortillas were on the dry side. Corn tortillas dry out when they cool so its important to eat the tacos right away. The pastor was tangy like I like it but again bad onion to cilantro ratio and the tortilla was dry. The sauces were on the verge of being frozen. The green sauce was bland and it's the only kind they gave me. Overall, This place has potential but there are several places I'd go for tacos before this place. My search for the best tacos continues. read more

Meh...not worth the stop. As a long time fan of tacos al pastor I was recently introduced to them the authentic way of being cooked on a trompo rotisserie (verticle grill...think gyros). It is hard to find a place that actually cooks them this way. I've been searching for such a place in my area by reading reviews, checking out menus and looking at photos on Yelp and websites. There was such a photo on Yelp for La Mina "posted 17 days ago" stating that the tacos al pastor were prepared this way as well as their menu stating that they are marinated and spit-grilled. I pass by the restaurant on my way home from work so I decided to stop and see for myself. It was Taco Thursday and tacos were only $1 making it a good time to try them. While they do have an indoor grill I saw no trompo. The fire grill was loaded with pieces of steak that looked and smelled good but imagine my disappointment when he pulled out a zip lock plastic bag with marinated pork in it and put it on the regular flat top grill. I can get tacos al pastor anywhere prepared like this. Pretty much false advertising. The staff weren't friendly but I was doing carry out and the price was a deal so I can overlook that. What I can't overlook are bland tacos with greasy tortillas not prepared as stated. The one positive was the red sauce provided for the tacos...very good. My search continues. read more
