    Oily chips

Overpriced and Underwhelming La Quinta De Los Reyes was a letdown. What should've been complimentary chips and salsa turned into surprise charges--$2.99 for extra chips, $3.99 for watery salsa, and $11.99 for so-called "fresh" guacamole. Nothing was fresh. The guacamole was warm, browning, and lacked flavor--easily the worst we've had. The salsa tasted diluted and bland. We waited over 15 minutes just for water, and only got service after flagging someone down. Although the main dishes arrived hot, the poor service and disappointing starters ruined the experience. Definitely not worth the cost, or the wait time. We won't be back.

I am absolutely loving this restaurant. It is incredibly welcoming and clean, with stunning Mexican decorations. To celebrate Mother's Day today, we enjoyed the parrillada Los Reyes brunch for four people. Despite there being only three of us, we had plenty of leftovers. I highly recommend this place for its wide variety of options. The service and waitress are on point. The guacamole was made tableside, which I loved. Definitely coming back!!!

The food and the service has gone completely down. I used to love this place. I got a Bisteca ala Mexicana and it wasn't seasoned the sauce It was watery, the rice was that seasoned, the bean soup had too much meat and no beans is very disappointing. My waitress didn't bring me the rest of my food. My bean soup was cold and that's because they left the top heated pot open it was open when I got there and when I left so about 50 mins just had it sitting open. It didn't close it . Next to 2 cups beans soup next to a dirty towelI had to tell her about it and she hadn't came over to check on me at all and I'm ready to go. She's too busy over there looking at her phone I used to love this place not anymore. Gotta find somewhere else to go.

So disappointed, we read the reviews and were excited to try a new place before the play. I told everyone about the table side guacamole reviews and we were all in to order it. Sadly it had no flavor, just avocado with no seasoning. No lime, cilantro, jalapeño or even salt - just bland. The medium salsa, very watery and no seasoning or spice - it was far from medium. For dinner I order the appetizer shrimp flautas, they were basically empty crispy shells with one bite of what appeared to be the tiny frozen shrimp stuff - so one bite of a tough shrimp filling. One of our crew ordered the chicken tacos and also commented on the lack of flavor, seasoning or spice. Then one of the gals ordered the steak chimichangas - ridiculously huge and sadly no seasoning, spice or flavor other than the red sauce which had a bitterness to it. It's not cheap Mexican food, our check was over $100 for 3 disappointing meals and only 1 alcohol drink. In my opinion that's too much for the quality of food we received. We eat out before every play, spend a lot of $$ in Aurora and usually don't mind spending it but we will not keep this in our rotation as we were all very disappointed. Thank goodness the whole group did not come, I'm embarrassed enough.

    Incredible Molcajete Mixto

We had a large group for a Birthday party. It was in the early afternoon on a Saturday, so it was not really busy yet. They easily handled our big group and the service was excellent. We got Guac and Salsa Verde for the table, both made fresh on their mobile guac/salsa station, that was pretty cool. The guac was guac but the Salsa Verde was warm and fresh and super good, we got it mild as we had a lot of different people with different tastes. I was surprised by the.... call it the Authenticity of the menu. They had the standard tex mex stuff like burritos and enchiladas, but also a lot of things I have never seen or heard of. One thing I noticed walking in was the large amount of Nopales (cactus) cooking on the grill, so I really wanted something with Nopales. I settled on the Molcajete Mixto, which is an incredibly large pile of Chicken, Pork and Beef with red chili sauce, with peppers and onions, fresh cheese and Nopales served in a Molcajete. It was so so good, the meat had great flavor, all cooked perfectly and I took so much home I had it twice more. They also have homemade tortillas. It was one of the better restaurant meals I've had in a long time. My wife had a simple Taco salad with steak and it was just as good. I can't believe we had never been here. We certainly will be back and bring everyone I know. I hear they have maratchi on the weekends at night. There is so much more I want to try on the menu, it's a great location on the river. I don't understand the underwhelming yelp reviews, but I absolutely loved it.

Very authentic Mexican restaurant. We were here celebrating a birthday !! It was the perfect place for 7 people. We started with table side salsa & guacamole !! Best ever!! You have to get this!! The dishes were huge and we all enjoyed our leftovers the next day!! We went on Mexican Independence Day! So it was packed, but we had a reservation and got in right away. We parked behind the building and walked around to entrance since back entrance & patio was under construction. Can't wait to come back & sip margaritas on the patio!! They even had entertainment this evening!!

This place was Amazing! Service was excellent. Let me tell you about the sweet abuela that rolls around her salsa and guacamole cart and quite literally whips up fresh guac and salsa for you at your table. Delicious! The food was plentiful and full of flavor. We were just visiting aurora but I will be dreaming about this food. Dress is casual.

Cool Mexican place in the middle of downtown Aurora. It seems a lot more open than lots of these other relatively dinky places. La Quinta De Los Reyes is a good place for hanging out and watching a game and whatever. Has a fairly authentic menu, at least compared to what typical Americans think of Mexican food. The prices are kind of high on a few things and there's not many entrees for vegetarians. Good place to bring a date. It took us awhile to pick something because there's not a whole lot of good vegetarian items as far as food. There's plenty of cocktails though. Of course these include margaritas. We got the margarita with the house tequila. It's $9 for a pretty good one. This could have been bigger but it's still bigger than a lot of the ones places will serve you. As for the food we were limited. We chose to get the guacamole as it was about the only acceptable thing. It's about $7 for an appetizer. They make this in front of you. It's kind of fun to watch and it's free entertainment. They also sometimes have live music. Ears may hurt because it gets loud. It often will have the TVs up and some band playing. This is especially loud on the weekends.

Had brunch here on a beautiful sunny morning, love the view of the river they've got even from inside! Service was prompt and friendly, portions HUGE, and the flavors were everything I missed most from Auroran Mexican food. We couldn't wait to eat the leftovers later after a walk! This place is a gem.

La Sierra was approximately a 35-minute drive from our home in the western suburbs. We arrived at approximately 8:30 AM. As we drove up my wingman John commented that he would not have come into this neighborhood or restaurant if I was not with him. Yes, the neighborhood was a bit rough (I grew up in Pilsen in the 1960's) but to me it felt like home in Chicago. We walked in and were warmly greeted by the hostess and waitress and told to sit-down anywhere we wanted. We chose a booth in the second room of the restaurant; the walls were covered with photos of Mexico and the smell coming from the kitchen was heaven. Our waitress quickly approached us for our drink order, she mentioned that they had Cafe de la Olla (made with piloncillo-unrefined whole cane sugar from Latin America, and cinnamon sticks) which we both ordered. The coffee arrived in a colorful Mexican traditional mug (just the way my mother used to make me). It was delicious! We then ordered our breakfast, which was Mexican Chilaquiles (a traditional, comforting breakfast dish consisting of crispy tortilla chips simmered in red or green salsa until slightly softened) with eggs, meat & refired beans. We were both in "Heaven", the tortilla chips were perfectly cooked with just enough "Crisp" to them. Just the way my mother used to make me on a weekend morning. My wingman & I both agreed that we will be returning and bringing our fellow foodies with us to try the other dishes offered!

There was a line when we got there (around noon) which I feel is usually a sign of tasty food. The tortilla chips were so yummy with a flavorful seasoning and delicious salsa. The parking looks awful until you spy the public lot just one storefront away. The interior is simple, which I prefer. Some cute knickknacks but not too much. The menu is the traditional Mexican fare, tacos, burritos, fajitas, plates, etc. Everyone should be able to find something to please them. The waitress was so sweet and helpful. They were doing a lot of take out orders and had my party and another couple dining in. She did great making sure we all had what we needed. We all started talking to one another so felt like dinner with a bunch of friends. My friends had the steak tacos and the Americano plate. Both really liked their items. The tacos were well filled and the meat tender and juicy. The plate had lots of steak on it as well as rice, beans, tortillas, etc. The sauce was a tad spicy but not overpowering for my non-spice liking friend. The star of the night was the Crazy Burrito. Massive burrito filled with shrimp, steak, fries, rice, guac and more. And when I say massive, I mean MASSIVE. Everything inside somehow all went together incredibly well. But each bite was different depending on what the ratio of the items was. Probably 1 of the top 3 burritos I've ever had. The steak, meat and shrimp were all perfectly cooked. Will definitely go back next time in Chicago.
