Found this little hole in the wall on Christmas Eve because the place we planned on going to was closed for the holiday. Sometimes things are just meant to be! The parking looks awful until you spy the public lot just one storefront away. The interior is simple, which I prefer. Some cute knickknacks but not too much. The menu is the traditional Mexican fare, tacos, burritos, fajitas, plates, etc. Everyone should be able to find something to please them. The waitress was so sweet and helpful. They were doing a lot of take out orders and had my party and another couple dining in. She did great making sure we all had what we needed. We all started talking to one another so felt like dinner with a bunch of friends. My friends had the steak tacos and the Americano plate. Both really liked their items. The tacos were well filled and the meat tender and juicy. The plate had lots of steak on it as well as rice, beans, tortillas, etc. The sauce was a tad spicy but not overpowering for my non-spice liking friend. The star of the night was the Crazy Burrito. Massive burrito filled with shrimp, steak, fries, rice, guac and more. And when I say massive, I mean MASSIVE. Everything inside somehow all went together incredibly well. But each bite was different depending on what the ratio of the items was. Probably 1 of the top 3 burritos I've ever had. The steak, meat and shrimp were all perfectly cooked. Incredibly good authentic tacos and Mexican food. Just tried some tonight and to put it simply.... They were delicious! I got the barbacoa tacos along with chips and salsa and I'm essentially speechless. They were fantastic. The tacos were juicy and tasteful. The salsa for the chips had a good flavor as well. It had a kick to it but it wasn't too spicy. They do have a super spicy red sauce that comes in a small container with your food, that sauce is very good but very hot. I think this will be my new taco spot whenever I have a craving. The food is incredible (at least the tacos are). You can't go wrong! read more

I moved to Virginia 4 years ago and I miss Juquilita Tacos so much I want to drive back to Illinois just to eat there. Definitely a dive kind of feel to this place. The food was good but don't come in expecting it to be Americanized Mexican food. It is definitely more toward the authentic side. This means you can get things like beef tongue tacos, or head meat tacos. In our case, The service was less than stellar. We had to ask for water refills. We had to ask for to go boxes. In both cases we had to flag down the server and get her attention to get those things. The chips and salsa were excellent though there was a charge for any refills. Our entrées were also very good, with large portions. When we asked for ice water with lemon, we got tapwater, no ice, and lime. It didn't matter that it was lime rather than lemon, just noting that we had asked for lemon. While it was good overall, we didn't find anything outstanding enough to put it on our regular list of places, particularly for Mexican food, that's why it just got an average rating. read more

I've had there other items from their food truck at a couple of area events. The truck is how I discovered the store even though I've probably driven by that location dozens of times. This place is great. Don't know how I've missed it all these years. The owner is very warm and welcoming brining fresh chips and salsa to the table immediately. He gave us ample time to order and provided some options of what he felt was best. My dad ordered the fish tacos and he said they were great. Nice and flaky with a lot of flavor. My wife ordered the pastor tacos and she said they are very authentic Mexican and you can clearly tell. I ordered the chile rellanos and they were good. They were green chiles and the batter was very light on it. The cheese was flowing and extra gooey. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. This is our new favorite local spot! With so many options in the area, it can be hard to choose, but you can't go wrong here. It is definitely a hole in the wall with just a few tables, but the staff are friendly and the pickup works well every time. The burritos are huge and we love that they offer a vegetarian option. The guacamole is some of the best we've had outside of homemade and the chips are always crispy. We also love the refried beans... they have texture and aren't the brown mush you see at other places. Dinner time made easy. I've only been here once, but I've heard good things about this place from friends. The decor is lively and staff is welcoming. It's a small restaurant with flavor.
