I came in for my first cleaning yesterday. The hygienist did not inform me that she was going to use an ultra sound cleaner. I have never seen one of these cleaners before and have gotten my teeth cleaned every six months my entire life by manual scaling. With the manual scaling, I have never had any pain. With this ultrasound cleaner she hit a couple of nerves that hurt a lot. She stood the entire time applying a lot of pressure with this machine onto my teeth an extra length of time on a bridge in my lower jaw. She finally asked me is this a tooth? I replied no it's a bridge. She said oh. She switched over to manual scaling which I do not think she was very good at either. After I left there, I could feel my bridge is no longer smooth it feels thinner near the gum line. I think this ultra sound machine has done damage to it. I also have another crown in my mouth that also no longer feels smooth to the touch. None of my teeth feel clean after this cleaning. I read online that one of the major sources of damage to the tooth is the result of frictional heating between the probe and the enamel especially with inadequate or no water cooling. I also want to add that this ultrasound machine had a very loud high frequency sound that really hurt my ears. I can see how it would save the office time by cleaning teeth more quickly but as for me I will be looking for a dental office that will still do manual scaling. read more

This information I'm sharing was awhile back. I was reminded of this place after receiving an email from them to make appointments for my kids. I had experienced something that I couldn't imagine. I had called ahead make sure they were accepting kids as patients. At time, I was looking for a closer place near home and other places were fully booked. After check in with receptionist, my two kids were taken two separate rooms. I first noticed staff were giggling with each other and appeared to be distracted by something other than work. I had two kids, so I went back and forth to each of their rooms. That's when I went into one room and I saw one of my kid without a safety vest and neck protector while they took x-ray images of his teeth. I quickly brought that to the staff's attention. What negligence! After telling them, they responded with Oops! They stared at each other and didn't really cared. Dr. Jin was out of office that day of the appointment so I had to call someone to report my experience. Honestly, Dr. Jin was apologetic at the time, but when I requested for my kids' x-rays images it was difficult to get and I had to go through loops and bounds with the receptionist. I never got those images. It was clear that they are unprofessional. Please keep your kids away from this place. I'm still pretty disturbed by how they managed safety with their patients. I went back to Pleasanton dental place. They are friendly and professional. Lesson learned. read more

We moved to San Ramon from Fremont last year. My husband started going to this office since it's only 2 blocks away from his office and he saw some good reviews from yelp. The office is clean and the service is friendly. But I was disappointed with their knowledge. My 2 years old daughter's 2 front teeth changed color to brownish yellow for some reason. We went to see Dr. Jin. She looked at her teeth for a minute and told us there was nothing she could do because the color is inside the teeth. She told us not to worry cos all the kids are going to lose the front teeth in a few years and grow out the new teeth around age of 6. But my daughter is only 2 years old, that means she has to smile with the yellow teeth for another 4 years. I felt sad and disappointed after we came out from the office. But I didn't give up. I started searching online for solutions. I found a solution! I brushed her teeth with adult tooth paste for only 3 days, the color of her front teeth were much brighter, I tried for a week, the yellowish brown color was almost gone. I went to see my old dentist in Fremont, my old dentist told me that the surface of baby's teeth is not as smooth as the adults, that's why it's easy to store the dirt. She polished her front teeth for a little bit, her teeth went back to WHITE. A month later my insurance statement showed there was a $380 charge from Dr. Jin's office for that 5 min visit. My Fremont dentist didn't even charge us for polishing my daughter's teeth. I decided to go back to my Fremont dentist even I need to drive for 30 minutes to get there. read more

Dr. Jin's the dentist I've been looking for. I'd been going to our family dentist for the last few decades, which was fine and the few other dentists I'd tried in the past seemed about the same. So I didn't see a reason to change. But seeing Dr. Jin was a very different experience. She and her staff actually took the time to get to know me and what all is going on in my mouth, which was new to me and made me feel like I was receiving care rather than something as routine as an oil change. And she actually seems to enjoy talking about teeth, so I'm a lot more comfortable asking her about the little things I've hesitated to ask other dentists, so I've gotten all kinds of good advice and things to think about. First, I have to start off by admitting that I don't really like Dentists. Let me clarify, actually they all seem like fine people. In fact, a good friend of mine is married to a dentist and he's a good guy - it's not a personal thing. It's a professional thing. I blame bad teeth genes and not great dental hygiene when I was young but in any event going to see the dentist has always meant bad news for me. Until Dr. Jin, that is. It's just been a few years now but I believe there's been at least three distinct times when I've gone in with a problem where things could have easily gone really bad. Let's just say there are two possible outcomes: A) something relatively minor (a filing for example) or B) something complicated (a root canal for example). In the past, I swear in every such situation my outcome is always B - the complicated and painful outcome (both physically and financially). Until Dr. Jin. Each time it's been outcome A! And then she takes care of it so quickly and professionally that I don't even have time to work myself up over it. Quickly in a good and competent way - not in a rushed, scary way.
