Still a good little mom and pop donut shop. Went 1st thing in the morning and they didn't have much out yet. Usually we are pretty happy with what we get but this time one of our items we like wasn't good. They have this cake donut that suppose to be like a apple cinnamon or something but the flavor/texture was off. Seemed like more floury mix like the batter was off. Everything else was ok like usual. The apple fritters, glazed raised, plain cake, sour cream, donut holes. We still coming back, rather support small local than big chains and still imo better quality and price over chains

I have been driving by Carol Lee Donuts for far too long. I have always been slightly deterred by the CASH ONLY aspect since I almost never have cash. Today, I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket after I stopped by the newly-opened Subjective Coffee since it's in the same shopping center. It's very unassuming, but I think that's part of the allure. The donuts are more expensive than what you'd pay at King Soopers, but they're still reasonably priced at less than $3 a donut depending on the type. I got two filled Long Johns and a chocolate cake donut. The man working the counter was kind enough to through in a free twist too. The filled donuts are filled on the spot, which is really cool too. Be warned, they can get a little messy as a result. The cake donut was incredible. It was the perfect mix of crunchy and moist, which is what I want when looking for a good cake donut. My mom said the filled Long John was really good too. Overall, I definitely would come back here to buy a box of donuts in the future. I think if you're looking for something fancy this is not the place, but if you love good old-fashioned donuts, give this place a try. Remember your cash!

Delicious homemade donuts! Avoid the premade frozen donuts at Dunkin' and give this local small business a try. Cash only but there is a 7-11 next door with an ATM.

Stopped in at Carol Lee Doughnut shop. I had the best Cinnamon roll and coffee ever. It was almost noon and they doughnuts were still perfect. The coffee was smooth, not bitter like the new places make. But the coffee is still bold enough to enjoy with half and half. They had a great selection as well. This was at noon. I will come back!

Small business right off of 72nd and Lowell. They have the best bear claws, cake donuts and customer service! I will say that it is very old school looking, could use a nice remodeling but hey, I'm here for the donuts!!

Carol Lee Donuts are incredible, soft, fresh, and full of flavor. But they sell out fast, so get there early. It's definitely worth it.

That one was a chain, this is clearly a local family operation made fresh with from scratch recipes. The frosting dips were amazing as, though a sweet frosting were clearly made with genuine fruit. They hade a display case on the counter with one each of many flavors. As we chose the flavors we wanted, they seeped back and picked up freshly made donuts and dipped each into a container of the flavor requested . They then placed them into a box, no preset number required and why I never had a traditional Asian flavor at the place on my trip. We took them out into the food hall combined seating to sample them. We could not wait. The sad part about doing that is that set into the small box, they had stuck together in a sticky pile. Persisting them dry a little before packaging does have some benefits after all. Im not sure how to effectively do this though as the place is tiny and the line constant. Maybe a small reserve of not popular flavors would be worthwhile for busy Saturday mornings . It a close call between perfection and almost. Same with my stars, 4.5 would be perfect. We drove out that way for specialty local business for hiking gear repair and never knew how close this place is. We use another business nearby so we can stop here again later this winter. The flavors we got were ube( sweet potato) and surprising bland as I love sweet potato " anything"," strawberry, passion fruit and vanilla. My husband loves vanilla anything and felt it was a tie for me of strawberry and passion fruit. Park in the mall parking where you see the sign for The District and go in that door next to Otis Arts and Crafts and walk across the communal seating to the door for Nok's. The friendliness can't be beat!

The shop is kinda strange to me. It's large and open but most of the space is not being utilized. It appears to be one large room. I could not see a back area or doors leading to another area. There's a couple tables to eat at and random storage in the same room. Behind the counter all I could see is a microwave and toaster. So, I'm just wondering how they make/bake the donuts??? Also, the furniture (tables and chairs) are basic and plastic. It just doesn't seem like they invested a lot into the interior. It is also carpeted, which is odd for a cafe. Overall, it's not really somewhere guests would want to stay and hang out. The employees were very nice and helpful. There is a kids area with small table and chairs and some games, puzzles etc.
