None of the cake slices seemed to sink down because my round trip was about 40 minutes away due to Toronto downtown traffic. Aka "NDLG". I came for the holiday drinks but not the cheesecake. One of the few late night spots open for hot chocolate after 10om, and the only that offered it with alcohol. Could've been more flavourful or a larger portion but still did the trick nonetheless. Service was great and friendly. There is a good amount of seating and gave cozy Christmas vibes. When I came to this small place, it was really busy so I was really excited to try their cheesecake. I picked the pistachio one. It was good but not crazy awesome and I thought it was a bit overpriced for the size of the slice. When we asked them if they had keto options, they showed us a box with cheesecake inside but it looked industrial. Granted, I only got the cream cheese aspect that this place is known for in the icing of the carrot cake I ordered... but it was because they claimed it was voted the best in Toronto! I have to agree, it was delicious, warm and great frosting to cake ratio. I tried some of the cappuccino cheesecake and tiramisu. The cheesecake was very rich and decadent. The tiramisu was very dense, and tasted more like cheesecake than mascarpone cheese. Definitely liked my choice of the carrot cake the best. Our server, Mat, was very attentive and kind. Many of the restaurants are closed by 7pm so I yelped the nearest dessert place that was still open and landed here. Service-wise, it was nothing special or spectacular. We had to get our own water and wave a waiter/waitress for extra silverware and plates. I wish service was more attentive but with about two people working in the cafe, I guess that's the best they can do. We ordered a veggie panini and chocolate brownie sundae. The panini tasted great, it was served hot with beautiful grill marks but for $13.99, that was pretty steep. We also had the chocolate brownie sundae, which was extremely mediocre. The brownie was nothing out of this world, just your plain old brownie; there weren't even chocolate chips or nuts in the brownie. The whip cream was crazy overkill in this dessert--probably to hide how little brownie is actually in the dish. The ice cream was okay, but then again, who doesn't like ice cream? Overall, I would not recommend ordering this dish, especially since it costed $9.99. Rather, I would say get a cake for $6.99~7.99 and then add $2.49 for a scoop of ice cream with it--you may get a bit more bang for your buck. Would I return? First of all this review is focused on the cheesecakes only - I haven't tried any of the savoury items and so far I've only ordered cheesecakes to go. Carole's Cheesecake is one of my favourite places to go if I'm craving a good slice of cake. I've been meaning to try the New York Cheesecake because it's the classic option and it looks delicious, but then I end up having a look at the variety of flavours they have and I always end up ordering something with berries, or Oreos, or cookies, or caramel... their caramel brownie cheesecake is out of this world. Service is always quick and a-OK, but again it is a quick interaction because I use to order cake to go. I bumped into this place while walking around. The place is small and the seats were not very comfortable. I ordered Dulce de Leche cheesecake. It was decent, not amazingly good, but not bad. (better than cheesecakes at my school). It's creamy, sweet, and decadently rich in flavour. I also ordered Peach n' Cream milkshake, which was pretty good. Not too sweet, and it was peachy (just how I like it). Good portion size as well!! They have lots of choices and the pistachio looks pretty good. With a giant craving for red velvet cheesecake, I stopped by Carole's and brought home a medium sized cake for about $40. If you like red velvet cake, I would definitely recommend stopping by to try theirs out. The cake is wonderfully balanced between red velvet and cheesecake while not being too sweet. The red velvet cake is light and moist while the cheesecake is dense without being overbearing - it's a much better substitute for overly sweet cream cheese frosting that usually accompanies red velvet cake. The service was also lovely here even though I was only getting a cake to go. The winter cold fogged up my glasses and the barista offered a napkin for me to wipe my glasses as well as a menu to browse. Upon putting the menu back, I was helped and checked up on by three other staff members. When I went in it was sitting on the counter next to two other boxed cheesecakes. For some reason my cheesecake was a small square slice (basically like the size of a brownie). Very good turtle cheesecake. You can tell this is proper cheesecake due to the thick texture of the cheese and the fact that it is not overly sweet like most grocery store cheesecakes. I was hovering around the interactive menu outside when a waiter walked up to me and offered a real menu! I was very touched and decided to come by when it was less busy. One day, Lady Luck looked upon me fondly and I finally walked by when the cafe was emptier than before. Some days the waiters can be quite understaffed and forgetful, but if you remind them of your unfilled coffee cup or roasted potatoes they apologize and quickly bring them over. They had a lot of patience for my friend and I when we were deciding between flavours, and the cakes came up very quickly. I've come by a few times and ordered a variety of dishes such as cakes and their all-day breakfast options. Their desserts are all is very sweet, but the cakes are warm from the microwave and absolutely delicious. They have gluten-free cheesecakes (the ones without crusts) that, ironically enough, aren't as delicious as their cakes. If you want the crust make sure to order the NEW YORK CHEESECAKE and pay an extra $1 for a special topping. Carole's savoury dishes are way too expensive and pretty ho-hum. If you come by here definitely get the bottomless coffee (I drank 4 cups because FREE COFFEE) and their desserts! If you show them their business page on yelp from your phone, you get 10% off! I tried my friend's slice and it was also very good, but I was very happy with my choice. We also ordered tea, which came with a lot of hot water and refills! The lady at the front, who I believe may be the owner, was extremely helpful in helping me pick my slice. She was really sweet and joked around a lot, making it a very pleasant visit overall. My only concern with this place and reason for 4/5 was the seating. There is a lot of awkward seating, which I unfortunately don't know how to describe very well for you. My friend and I sat right across from another table and felt like we were intruding into their conversation and I had to somehow sit in a corner...we ended up switching over to the bar. Overall, I would say this is definitely a great place to have dessert. If you love cheesecake, this is a must try. Go for the New York Style Cheese Cake. That is literally the best piece of cheesecake in Toronto hands down! Got it with the strawberry sauce on top but there are others you can choose from. Service was friendly. Also had the Rocky road was ok. The ice cream there is really good too!
