Great casual dining spot. Anyone can find something they like on the big menu. Wings are fantastic. There is a big lawn adjacent to the covered outdoor seating where kids can play while the parents eat and drink. Lots of beers and the bartenders mix good drinks. Went on Thursday for a quick late lunch. We sat outside since the weather was good. Server was good. We started off with the appetizer of the flatbread pepperoni. Typical bar food. I really wanted a good salad one night and decided to order the Cobb salad. It was humongous and great! I only wish the bacon wouldn't have been clumpy and would have been smaller pieces and crispy. I'll likely leave it off next time because it's chewy. Everything else was good. Stopped in today for a late lunch following a doctor's appointment for my wife. She informed the wait staff and then the manager that she is deathly allergic to all seafood. We have eaten there before. The manger says he can't say her food will be safe. She's trying to order a burger and ask if they could just cook it in a separate pan. The manager says he couldn't be sure the pan or utensils wouldn't be contaminated. She then says she'll just get a salad. He then says he could be sure the vegetables or area where they'd make her salad would be safe and not cross contaminated either. We left, will not be back. We went to another restaurant that also serves seafood as part of their menu that assured us my wife's food would be completely safe for her and that the pans, utensils, and food will not be cross contaminated in any way. I'm generally not a fan of Ale Houses of the Carolina variety but this one is probably my number one hang out in Wake Forest. If there's a game on I can be sure to stop by the Ale House for guaranteed good folk and fried pickles (The fried pickles are to DIE for!). The atmosphere is pretty much the same as any Carolina Ale House with the same, Red, Baby and Royal Blue decor (for local schools) but I guess being a local in the area it feels less cookie cutter to me since I frequent here a bit. I just wish they carried Carolina Brewery ales. That would bring it up to 5+ stars in my book. All in all, good fun. read more

Meh. I probably shouldn't have ordered a salad at a sports bar. The Buffalo shrimp salad was a head of iceberg in huge pieces, core and all, a few leaves of spring mix, three slices of cucumber and three slices of tomato and shrimp piled on the side. The first impression is that it is huge, and then you realize it is all iceberg. I'm certain the shrimp was frozen, microwaved and then tossed in buffalo sauce. The salad was a huge disappointment. It could have been much better if they held back on some of the lettuce and chopped it before serving and maybe add a wedge of pita. My husband enjoyed the Meathead Pizza. We had the worst experience ever I called ahead of time and ask them how to handle a medium size party for the big UNC Duke game. They told us when to come and then if we had half of our party we could sit down and we would have no problem when we got there. The snotty managers said that we must have talk to someone at the hostess stand that didn't know, and they did nothing about it. They would only sit us with the amount of people we had. They would not allow us to sit at a bigger table until our party got there we had a table, and the table next to us became available, and they still wouldn't let us have it. When another couple showed up, they were going to make them sit alone in another area because they said that they had to go in order that was no one waiting. We asked if we could have the open table to make everything easier and they said we would have to close our tab and move to another section. They argued, they were rude, and made no apology for someone giving us the wrong info. Both of the managers treated us like crap and didn't even want to try to find a solution. It's nice to be greeted during the night by your first name by the waitress, and even nicer to have one of the restaurant managers come over to ask how things were. Went on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded. We were seated immediately. We asked about items before ordering them. I asked about the Pesto pizza. The waitress noted she orders the pizza and just had it. So I get the pizza with no pesto. I tell the server and she takes it to the chef. She looks and notes the same thing like she didn't see pesto but before said she had it. Then brings it back and notes that the pesto sauce is a glaze. There was no aside on the pizza it was dry and needed the sauce. So the server brings out a sample of what the cook put on the pizza but didn't leave the extra sauce on the table after it was noted it needed sauce. If I questioned the pizza then why not bring more pesto or reduce it with the pizza that has pesto. They did get the extra stars because the people I was with enjoyed their food. The restrooms needed some cleaning. It's a good place to come to watch the game and if your not looking for much but wings and beer, but overall I won't be back. read more

My daughter ordered food utilizing door dash's pandemic 'no fee' delivery on 6/27. My salad was made with the correct substitution of grilled chicken instead of fried chicken and the greens were crunchy. Since there wasn't a comment area to note this substitution on door dash's app, my daughter immediately called the restaurant after submitting the order to note the substitution. The staff member was friendly and professional. I did not give this review 5 stars as a sauce was missing from my daughter's order and there was very little spinach in her spinach dip. From the looks of it, the managment stall doesn't even bother to respond to negative feedback but here goes. Went tonight and took my wife, and inlaws. Got seated quickly which was cool. Went downhill from there. I had ask for water with lemon in it. It was obvious the lemon was bad but stupid me decided to drink some anyway. After about 15 minutes, the waiter finally came back to take our order. I ordered the half rack ribs along with someone else at my table. The food came out in decent enough time. However the portion control was terrible. Half rack is normally 6 ribs. Not to sound like a karen, but I was given a 5 bone of what looked to be a children's portion. The other plate was a great big meaty 7 bone half rack. Same goes for the sides. I didn't complain knowing the ridiculousness of it and thinking they could very well spit in it. I've been to Carolina Ale House in Wake Forest twice. The first time was great. We had nachos with barbaco beef and pub burgers. We went again last Saturday night, nachos weren't too great -hardly anything on it. I had a pub burger medium rare. My family's were medium and medium well. I only ate half of my burger. Good thing I did because I ended with major food poisoning a few hours later. Apparently my burger was not cooked enough, just bad or someone that handled it was sick. My family did not get sick. Our 49er chapter meets at the Falls of Neuse Ale House every season for the past 4 years! We have seen a lot of changes over the years, the loss of our legendary pulled pork loaded fries, the Asian chicken wrap, and a few others. However, it is our home. Our favorite waiter, Summer, always takes care of us. The staff always takes care of us. The food is yummy, the beer, is on point, but it's the service and the "everyone knows your name" feeling that has us coming back each season. I have never been a fan of the Carolina Ale House line but since this one is in Wake Forest, we frequent it maybe once or twice a year when we are in desparado mode, i.e. it is a holiday where everything else is closed. The service is always poor, food tastes like it is re-heated from being frozen, and the tables, floors, and bathroom (don't get me started on a dirty bathroom) is always yucky. I'm sort of glad my recent visit was just as poor as it normally is so that I have finally moved over to it being off of our list to ever return. No more chances for you, Carolina Ale House. Here's why: 1. It took 15 minutes to be addressed from our waiter and we were one of 10 tables in the restaurant at the time. Not busy. 2. The beer tasted skunky....PLEASE DO NOT SERVE ME SKUNKY BEER! 3. The food tasted freezer burned. I got a chicken sandwich, hubs a burger. We both had the same experience. 4. While we sat dining, there was a guy at the table beside us who kept telling the server since he used to work there that he should get his food for free. He finally asked for the manager. She came over and when he told her the same, I made a comment that since our food wasn't very good, we should get ours for free. Well, I'll let you guess who got special treatment and a free meal...hint- it wasn't us, it was the guy who begged for it. The manager didn't even ask us about our food or what the prob was.
