Omelet with hash browns and biscuit
    Tim C.

I came here with my wife for a Sunday brunch, and the weather outside was perfect for outdoor dining, so we decided to eat outside. They were actually pretty busy so the service was a bit slower, but we weren't in a rush. The table also wasn't the cleanest when we got there, but it eventually got properly wiped down after we pointed it out to our server. My wife ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Omelet and was pleasantly surprised by it. The omelet was huge, the hash browns were crispy and tasty, and the biscuit was pretty good as well. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy and really enjoyed it. I think they heated the biscuit halves on a griddle because there was a crisp surface on each of my biscuit halves. The gravy was tasty as well. It came with eggs, which I ordered over easy, and it was an enjoyable meal. I also ordered some coffee with my meal, which funny enough was the least impressive part of the meal. It's a great location on Franklin Street, but if you're driving there, parking may be difficult to find. There could be some improvements with service, and the coffee isn't the greatest, but as a Carolina grad, this place has sentimental value, and I'm still glad to see it up and running.

Came in Friday afternoon, sat at a booth. Zoe's Coffee was a bit cool but we were there on the later side. We learned Riley does not like hot toddy's but Zoe liked it. The "Eggs Jennifer" is a repeat order for Zoe. Over all would come back.

Cute old time favorite of Chapel Hill ... sat outside - has coffee cocktails and food- what more can you want!

Love the cute ambiance of this place. My food was good and our server was nice. The booths are old and wooden which is cute but they are uncomfortable and hard to get in and out of if you're not tiny and petite. So heads up if you're above average sized, get a table.

Great place for brunch. Food is really good. No reservations are taken but you can walk around the neighborhood and receive a text when your room is ready. I had an omelette which was solidly good and my son had the eggs Benedict which he enjoyed. Only complaint is the toast I had as my side was ordinary - was hoping for something better quality or house made. Service was fine. Recommend as a very good breakfast/ brunch spot in Chapel Hill ( don't confuse it with the coffee place they own adjacent to the restaurant that also has food )

Cute coffee shop/restaurant right on Franklin near the UNC campus. Great options for food and drinks. We decided on the smash avocado on sourdough bread and the build your own omelette, which came with toast and grits (ordered with bell peppers, artichoke, ham, onions, Brie cheese) Food was good. The sourdough bread got lost with the avocado, wish it was a bit thicker. The salad was not great, but edible. The bell peppers were roasted red peppers, fyi. Easy comfort food. Our waitress could have been a bit nicer. She seemed a bit upset. Polite but never smiled. Otherwise, OK.

like many places in the area (because its a collage town), there are mainly college students working here. however, all of them are very nice, attentive, and willing to help! all food was really nice and filling, especially for the general price point for everything (at least in the ~$10-$20 range). mostly old, polished wood interior and cozy environment. it includes a small bar, but its not really open long enough to attract long night crowd. its stayed so long for a reason!

Carolina Coffee Shop not a bad place for breakfast. The shop is a little dark and the seats are small but the food is good. We were seated immediately to a booth it was pretty tight and the lamp on the wall gave little light, only the front was shaded the rest was exposed bulb. Emily was our server she was quiet. The menu had a lot of options- I got the CCS omelette with feta -somehow I didn't get a biscuit and was charged extra for the rye bread? I traded the bread with my husband and the top of the biscuit was good (bottom over cooked) the omelette was good it had ham, feta, onions and peppers. Served with really Creamy grits. Bathroom was messy.

Loved Carolina Coffee Shop! Great stop in for brunch/lunch. Friendly service, delicious food. Cozy diner feel. I had the sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs and a cinnamon roll latte. Definitely a staple when stopping through Chapel Hill.

Typical college coffee house. Great breakfast burrito - big enough to share. Nothing fancy as far as coffee - maybe one step above Starbucks. Baristas barely acknowledged our presence. It was like we were disturbing their break time . Great quiet study music and bright interior from the massive windows. Right next door to the UNC visitor center so good stop before a tour.

Smashed avocado toast with poached egg

We ordered the waffles, French toast, avocado toast with poached eggs, side of bacon and chicken wrap. Coffee was great! Better than expected for diner coffee. Avocado toast not quite "fresh smashed". Looks and tastes more like out of the jar :( poached eggs were done well. Side of bacon was nice thick cut and crispy. Waffles were ok - a little bland. French toast was great and not heavy. Service was very good.

An average American brunch experience. We sat down fairly quickly (at 11 am on a Saturday) since we were a party of two. We only waited 5-10 minutes. I enjoyed looking at the large menu with many breakfast options. I chose the grilled chicken wrap and my friend got the eggs Jennifer. The service was alright, and the wait for the food was pretty long. But I understand they were busy. Our food was plated nicely when it arrived, and it looked pretty good! The taste however was pretty subpar. It was lacking some meat, the cheese was not melted at all, and it was overall missing some seasoning to it. The wrap was a good size, but the tortilla itself was super oily. Pretty mid level experience: I probably won't come back but it was nice to try.

She helped us check if we could have my nephew's plate modified and make a non-vegetarian side into a vegetarian one for my cousin. I thought that was very sweet! The ol' traditional waffle, eggs, and sausage was a perfect way to start my day, and I really liked how crispy the waffle was! The berry jam or compote was a nice addition to eat my waffle with, on top of their warm syrup. My cousin got the avocado toast, while my niece got her grilled cheese and apple juice, and my nephew got his ginormous chocolate chip pancake!!! He was super happy with the pancake, while my niece wasn't used to the crispness and grilled cheese being melted and toasted so fancily. I guess kids just prefer the Krafts sliced grilled cheese sandwich. She was pretty content with her Apple juice though! If you're looking for comforting, homemade Southern food, Tonya's Café definitely delivers. The country-fried steak is my favorite--the sandwich is so good, crispy, hearty, and full of flavor. The service is warm and friendly, though it can slow down a bit during busy hours. Inside, the space is neat and organized. One side features a charming little Southern market selling local goods, while the other has plenty of seating for dining in. I was torn between getting a Turkey Ruben sandwich or Ciabatta French Toast. I ended up ordering the French Toast.
