I went in for a color I WAS growing out my natural grey hair and wanted to color my previously treated black locs a shade of grey so that the transition wouldn't be so obvious. I had a consult and was told it would likely take two treatments to lift the black and color but it could be done. Long story short after two visits and $700 later, my hair is a sandy brown (even the part that was naturally grey) and I have considerable breakage on the top and sides. I went back in the studio and spoke with I think it was Joshua (I name him because he was extremely sympathetic, I was extremely upset and appreciate the effort he made). He offered a treatment that I initially accepted but later decided to decline. He was not the one that provided my initial service. I am out $700, I'm stuck with this washed out sandy brown hair and I have no idea when my locs are going to stop falling out. The worst experience I've ever had in my life. Never have I had to take a moment and gather myself, my thoughts, and be left unable to speak from the knot on my throat. I've delayed writing this review because I hate to relive it in the memory of what transpired. I asked for a haircut and for my highlights to be retouched. I explained how it was important that they be as close to my scalp as possible and that I needed to be within regulations for my job. In the span of 4 hours, I got the worst lived in roots, worst job I've ever received in my life. Besides her being rough as hell on my head and hair (like combing it and ripping my hair through), the job was so insanely messy. I'm use to stylists being careful and clean when handling my hair and head but I can't stress enough this was the worst treatment. My forehead, neck, and ears were stained from how messy they were and instead of cleaning up after themselves they just said "it's just hair dye." as in I was being dramatic, but I have never paid a high amount of money to walk out with my skin irritated and died from their unprofessionalism. We spoke about color and I told him that eventually I was going to go blonde and I was working with Ulta to eventually get there but for now I just needed the highlights to reach my scalp because I had an inch of new hair growth that I needed to cover. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, they tried to weasel out of it by saying it was my fault for not having a picture. So they literally didn't communicate that they didn't understand the assignment and did whatever the heck they wanted. and the only reason it took four hours was because they were working on four other people while they were working on me. I've never had a stylist leave me to go work on somebody else. So for $360 my hair ended up fried. I've never left a salon with wet fried hair where I've had to hide it. My sergeant ended up telling me that I was out of regulation and needed to go dye it immediately. I had no choice, but to dye my hair black from box dye. This has been by far so traumatizing, having to go back in there and ask for a refund where they continue to say that it was a miscommunication on my part, even though when I told them what I wanted, they kept saying things like " we're gonna get you right". The one lady who worked on me was rude and never realized how distraught I was. She kept blaming me for her bad work. The manager who I guess was being taught by this lady basically repeated what I had been trying to say, which I appreciated, but said I could return tomorrow and get it fixed. Not only had I already wasted four hours with them, but they wanted me to continue and my Sergeant was not having any of that. My hair is ruined now and my efforts in going blonde... My sister went in for a simple black all over color and blowout. Somehow her 3b/c hair ended up matted like locs. She spent over an hour with the stylist trying to detangle with a regular comb. She said that no one in the salon had a wide tooth comb! When she was stone, she left with uneven color (red showing through the black) and light roots with with dark black ends. The hair all was very dull and lackluster. They gave her $10 off for the inconvenience. She ended spending twice what she paid for them to mess it up, for someone else to fix the mess. I have been to the salon three times, I wanted to gain some experience before I make a review. The first time I was there, Tia got my blonde right (even though I was scared with the toner looking so dark at first). I had a beautiful blonde. 2nd time there and she lost my information, didn't know what toner I had last time. I heard their conversation. The second time my hair was a heavy beige blonde. I never asked for beige blonde hair. I just went there this Friday, and my hair is a disaster. I showed Tia a picture of my first visit and that I wanted that shade of blonde. I realized that Tia gets annoyed by my request. One minute she is nice, the second minute she ignores you and is annoyed by your questions. I told Tia that I don't want to lighten my hair more (it was light enough for me). I told her I don't want to be white blonde like 30 times. The problem is she is not listening, she knows she is the professional and gets annoyed. I came home with WHITE hair yesterday. I used clarifying shampoo to get the toner out, and I was left with WHITE hair. Now I have to pay more money to someone to bring this down. I am beyond upset. read more

I initially booked an appointment for a specialty color, which is $285 on the website. Somehow they got $600 out of me. I feel like I was scammed because at the very end they told me that my total was $500 because they gave me some package deal that I was not aware of. I guess this is because he gave me a light blowout and a little bit of a trim, but I did not ask for that. And then on top of that I felt like I had to tip 20% to be nice so now I've blown $600. I went to get it removed from her within 2 weeks complaining that it was itching and she told me to keep it in as long as I could but when a client says my head is really itching you would think the professional would think something is wrong.. well I have spent thousands on doctors, dermatologist and allergic testing. Thousands on wigs and products. You would think that you would've offered some kind of resolve. BUT Nothing. I have alopecia because of you Tia. You didn't realize that I was having an allergic reaction to the adhesive that you put on my wet hair. You are saying 2 months. You knew I lived out of town. How dare you go there. I was trying not to make a really negative review, but you are so busy dancing and singing not paying attention to your clients. A little over two weeks ago, i arrived here on ADT. Found them online, made an appointment on Wednesday, met Tia on a Saturday. She did an awesome job on my lashes. It was important to me that my lashes look full and natural. She listened! I feel robbed of my money. I had a hair premium blowout appointment today, September 23rd at 2pm. I did not even finish my hair when I was asked to pay because they had to close out the register for the day. I had no idea what was the total of my bill when I received the email the bill was $234.00 for a blow out with additional services that I did not ask for. I am very disappointed in this service and I will not be returning to this place. I was told on the phone that I had to pay $42.00 to hold the appointment and then $43.00 plus $20.00 for extra length I was charged $40.00 for extra length.My hair was also rushed because they wanted to close. By the time I got home my hair was already curly because it was not properly flat ironed. I am so disappointed in this hair salon. I am going to dispute the charge for this service with my credit card company and I am not paying for this terrible service I received. I would have never booked an appointment if I had known the price for a flat iron would be $234.00. This is outrageous. The only reason I am giving this location one star is because the young lady that did my pedicure, Tonya, did a very good job, and her co-workers helped her out with my service because she was running behind finishing another client's services. I will have to say that actually, I was rather pleased with my service up until the end; here is why: 1. Confusion on the pricing- I booked a spa pedicure. I also asked for gel nail polish to be placed on my toes, because that is the polish my manicure is done in, and that was the closest polish available that was similar to the color on my hands. Upon ringing me out, Tia (the supervisor) instructed Tonya to charge me $45.00 for a spa pedicure because I got gel polish and an additional $10.00. Upon hearing this we both instantly became confused, as we both understood an upcharge for the gel polish, but there was no clear reason given by Tia for the additional $10.00. I kindly advised Tonya that I would wait for Tia to come and give me a detailed explanation of the charges and thanked her for her work. 2. Customer Service- I am a customer service and sales manager for a major telecommunications company; therefore customer service means a lot to me. Once again I want to reiterate that Tonya was excellent and very attentive. However the same cannot be said about her manager Tia. I asked Tia to give me a detailed breakdown of how a $40.00 services turned into a $55.00 service. I wanted this explanation before possibly paying for services I did not receive. Tia first advised me that I was being charged $45.00 because I got gel polish instead of regular polish; which I clearly understood. She then told me that the $10.00 was because I received a mask and sugar scrub with my service. I told her that to my understanding when I booked the appointment, that was included in the service I booked. She emphatically told me no, that it was extra. As she was speaking, I pulled my confirmation email, as well as, their website that clearly states the mask and sugar scrub were included in the $40.00 service. Tia looked astonished and in a flippant manner, thanked me for bringing that to her attention and told me she was taking $2.00 off my final price. I was still confused as to how services she had just cost an additional $10.00 only got a $2.00 reduction in price. She then told me that the $10.00 was because I got gel polish instead of regular polish. I then asked her, "But I thought that the $45.00 charge was because I got a spa pedicure with gel polish"? In the midst of that question, without excusing herself from our conversation, she took payment and exchanged a light-hearted banter with another customer while I stood there waiting for my question to be answered. During this time, I made a phone call to one of my fellow managers, as I had another appointment and was running behind. When Tia decided to return to our conversation, and I put my telephone conversation on hold, she stated to me, "I will not stand here and be recorded, so we can continue once you finish"! I advised her that her assumption was incorrect and that I was speaking with one of my other colleagues, but I hung up my call and once again waited for her to CLEARLY itemize my services and the costs associated with them. She then proceeded to tell me that she could not break down the pricing anymore for me and that she had taken off the $2.00 and that was the extent of what could be done; therefore rudely insinuating that I was asking for some sort of discount. If I had been hunting I would have reminded her that I was not given my first time (and last time) client discount of $5.00. Because I was short on time I paid the $53.00 and asked for an itemized receipt. I handed Tia my credit card in her hand, after swiping it she placed it on the counter and slid it back to me. She did the same with the pen. She also zeroed out the line item for the tip which meant I was unable to leave Tonya a tip for her good work as I did not have cash. I cannot reiterate enough how disgusted, disappointed, and outraged at the abhorrent attitude of Tia. Her assumptions, lack of manners, lack of professionalism, and inability to articulate a mistake or her lack of understanding will be the reason that I nor any of my colleagues, friends, associates, and family will ever patronize this establishment. read more

I was accepted as a walk in today, it was great because I really needed my hair washed and styled. I had the pleasure of meeting 2 stylists; Lavin in and Tia. Together they provided the service I expected. Although Lavin was not well versed in the style I was seeking, she listened to what I wanted and executed a back up plan to call in a stylist that could get the job done. Tia, came in with a listening ear and chopped out a style that I was pleased with. Her knowledge of hair and scalp was most impressive. "TOP" PHOTO " IS WHAT I WANTED... "BOTTOM " PHOTO IS WHAT I LEFT WITH!!! My hair was butchered this past weekend by a stylist at another salon and I have been hiding my hair by wearing it up all week-not how you should feel after a haircut! I walked in for my 5:45pm appointment and was greeted by Tonya and Jerry. I was immediately swept back to Jerry's chair where my AWFUL cut was fixed and went from pathetic to perfection in a matter of minutes. He made sure I liked the cut several times and showed me what he was doing. He was even sweet enough to go back and chop off a horrendous bottom layer that I made the bad judgement call of saying I wanted at first (ugh). Unfortunately, I share the same sentiments with a lot of the natural ladies who've posted on here. I scheduled a premium blow out with Tia and recently this was my second time for the same service. The first time I came, Tia was obviously overbooked and I spent at least 3 hours in the salon as she worked on multiple heads at one time. I decided to give the place another chance for convenience ONLY. When I went back for the second time, one thing that I found odd was her telling me that I needed to remove about 6 large braids in my head at the shampoo bowl. She told me the washer wasn't going to do it (this wasn't true, because she actually did take some of them out). I will say the woman who washed my hair was far more professional, kind and gentle on my hair. After the wash lady finished with me, she sat me under the dryer with my hair sectioned off. I sat under the dryer unnecessarily for a good 45 minutes (mind you on the website it says that the premium blowout does not come with under the dryer services). After this passing of time, Tia comes in with Bojangles and (I'm assuming) after running other errands. She proceeds to do begin styling my hair. Now usually when I get a blow out, the stylist will blow dry the entire head and then straighten. However, she blow dried and then straightened each section of my hair. Once I realized this, I asked if I could get curls. She responded with a gasp obviously annoyed...again unprofessional. Additionally, while doing my hair, I don't remember her placing any protectant or even the Olaplex 7 on my hair which is included in the Premium Blow-out style (I only noticed this after she was done, but my hair usually reverts pretty easily either way). Once I was finished, she proceeded to check me out at the front desk. When asked if I was happy with my service, I responded by saying "it was okay." Honestly, I was ready to leave and already having experienced her unprofessionalism, I did not want to prolong my visit. When she asked, why just okay. I responded specifically with the long time I spent in the salon. She responded that it usually takes a premium blow out about 2 & 1/2 (this service is quoted as 1 & 1/2 hours on the website). I proceeded to check out and left a $10 tip SOLELY for the appreciation of the woman who washed and detangled my hair. I will not be returning and I advise natural girls who value the health of their hair from this specific stylist. I would like to try another stylist, but after reading these reviews I see that Tia is the owner, so I won't be returning at all. I am a Columbia native, but I currently live out of state. When I needed my hair done for a local wedding, Tia delivered. I booked an appointment online a few weeks prior to my appointment date. The day of my scheduled appointment there was some confusion about my online booking, but this was cleared up with a quick phone call. I arrived at the hair studio before my scheduled appointment time and was promptly greeted. The hair salon is very big and clean. Tia took me back for a shampoo within less than 5 minutes of my arrival. I ended up getting a blowout and haircut. I was really impressed with Tia's technique. Usually my hair does not hold a curl after it is straightened, but my curls lasted days following my blowout. Also, I was in and out within 2.5 hours! Thanks Tia. Karie is one of the most patient, thoughtful, talented stylists who has ever done my daughter's hair. My daughter is a child with autism and has, in the past, had a very traumatic time getting her hair done. Karie has now done her hair twice, strategizing the best style, process, products, detangling, etc, with the greatest care, eliminating anxiety, tears or pain for my child. I am grateful for this beautiful, clean, full service salon (cut, color, all hair types, nails, waxing ...), the owner and staff, and especially for Karie who is a blessing! read more
