Barefoot Queen passing by the outdoor swing

This was a very good place for food. It is a little pricey but it was worth it to us. We got the ribs and a stuffed lobster. Both were great. Our server was not very good. We had to get another server to bring us our check. The atmosphere is alright but a lot of the staff just stands around and I found that to be rather annoying and rude. They have a nice swing outside that overlooks the river so that was pretty neat seeing the boat pass by. Would go again.

For a Sunday evening it was about a third full, the bar was full and they had a jazz ensemble play what I call lounge jazz which was delightful. We ordered two cocktails and the scallops as an appetizer. My drink was a blueberry lemon drop that was delicious, my husband ordered the mule and he was pleased. I ordered the Carolina grouper and my husband ordered the shrimp and grits. Both entrees were tasty and flavorful. The grouper was a lot of food and I couldn't finish it. Service was ok our server was busy with other tables. The meal with 2 drinks, an app and 2 entrees was over $100 but I expect that in a tourist destination. I would however come back to this restaurant as it was a unique experience and listening to jazz in the background made the meal that much better.

I have visited this restaurant 3 times now, and I have such a hard time choosing a favorite dish. Everything I've eaten has been delicious. The waiters are amazing. The atmosphere is always peaceful. Everyone is always so welcoming. But the food is always the star. The cornbread starter is delicious. Make sure you try the jalapeño butter! It is divine!!! But my favorite dish is the rack of lamb with the carrot purée. My goodness. The balance of sweetness of the carrot with the gamey flavor of lamb just is to die for. I have no complaints. Highly recommend

I stopped in on a Friday for happy hour. They advertise 10 meals for $10 on the marquee. The place is very spacious it has a lounge, bar, and dining area.I sat at the bar.The lady I sat next too ordered 2 large pizzas to go but 2 small pizzas came out.We were all confused but the bartender said this is the standard large pizza.I think maybe they only come in one size. She declined to purchase and the bartender was upset. This does make me rethink my order.Fried pickles & a martini something simple..right?.. Nope the pickle spears had so much breading on them people asked if they were mozzarella sticks.Once you bite it the pickle slides out and your left with a bunch of crumbs everywhere. The manager sees the confusion on my face and asks how is it.I told him I didn't like them and he asked was it my first time there I said yes.He said "Oh we are generous here" that was a clear sign to not order anything else.I allowed him to take the full plate before taking a picture

Dried out stuffing, over baked Salmon and dried hard rolls.

First, the food was absolutely disgusting. This was an overpriced buffet. I felt like I was eating in the dining room of a nursing home. There weren't many options despite what the advertisement said. The frame rib was so raw, it wasn't even edible. It smelled weird as well. The servers didn't clear tables of the dirty dishes, you had to hand them to them or put on an empty table. We were sat near a busses station and they had to keep reach over and around us. I regret this place and will never go back. If I could give zero stars I would.

Loved this place! The atmosphere was a bit too loud for us, but it is to be expected at a high traffic tourist area. The service was slow. I'm not certain how many tables she was working, but she did not check back too often. Still, she was polite and did a fair job. Now for the absolutely delicious food.... Not enough can be said and I would definitely eat here again. Everyone completely and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I even challenged myself to try the special shrimp & grits & was completely impressed with the flavorful grits with pimento cheese.

Nick is an absolute legend!…read more We came to Portofino not knowing what to expect, and we left completely blown away -- and honestly, a huge part of that was our waiter, Nick. This guy is on another level. From the moment we sat down, Nick's energy, knowledge, and genuine passion for hospitality set the tone for the entire evening. He wasn't just taking our order -- he was curating an experience. Now let's talk about the Cacio e Pepe -- insanely good doesn't even begin to cover it. It was perfectly executed: silky, bold, with just the right bite of pepper. Classic done right. But you know what made it taste even better? Nick. He recommended it with such confidence and enthusiasm that we had to order it, and he absolutely delivered. Nick was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and just an all-around fantastic human being. He made us feel like VIP guests from start to finish -- checking in at exactly the right moments, offering spot-on suggestions, and keeping the whole experience flowing effortlessly. If you go to Portofino, you absolutely should ask for Nick by name. He is the kind of server that reminds you why going out to dinner is supposed to be a special occasion. We will 100% be back, and Nick is a big reason why. Portofino, you have a gem on your staff. Treat him well!

We looked at the reviews first on Yelp, and they were pretty mixed, but we hoped for the best. On arrival we were greeted at the door and were seated promptly. We arrived at around 4:30 pm, and the place wasn't that full, but everything smelled pretty good. Too bad good smells doesn't equate to good food... Most of the food we ate wasn't very good. The sausage I tried was mealy, and couldn't get past the first bite. The fried shrimp were popcorn sized, and soggy? I didn't even try the snow crab because they looked very small, and were swimming in an unknown liquid. The "ribeye" steak was cut razor thin, and was cooked well beyond well done. At least the prime rib was medium rare, but didn't have much flavor. The best things I ate consisted of the pretty good gumbo, crispy Brussel sprouts, and fresh cucumbers. The bbq ribs weren't too bad either. The wife and daughter had the same opinion of the food. I'll mark this experience as a skip if you are in the North Myrtle Beach area. Especially when two adult meals and a child priced meal (with three drinks) comes to a total of $160.00 with tip. Yikes.
