Visiting from out of town and wanted a great meal to end it well. After searching and searching online we came across Aspen Grille. I was a bit skeptical because we passed it a few times on our way to different places in town, and from the outside you couldn't tell that it served upscale cuisine. But it had great reviews so we took a chance. Ambience: The inside was dimly lit with an old school feel. Reminds you of an old school New York establishment from the 80's. I liked it. It had a welcoming feel and I noticed there were at least two regulars the staff greeted. Food: We ordered an appetizer of calamari and the short ribs. Additionally, I was going to get the salmon but they had a special of red snapper with lump crabmeat, green beans and rice. The food was delicious. The calamari was one of the best I have ever tasted. The addition of the fried peppers complimented the dish well. They were nicely fried and seasoned. Very light crust which I love. Sadly I didn't get a chance to taste the short ribs because I was just too enthralled in my dish. The snapper was perfection! Everything on the plate paired well together. Also, if you're not going for an alcoholic beverage, their freshly squeezed lemonade is so refreshing. Service: I'm truly bad about remembering names and as is my usual, I don't recall the name of the waitress, but she was truly attentive and nice. She was also knowledgeable about the food and patient. Truthfully, all the waitstaff seemed genuinely kind towards the patrons, which was nice. My husband and I went to Aspen Grill to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. It's not a huge restaurant, but that makes for intimate conversation. The food was incredible -- I had a filet mignon, green beans and mashed potatoes, and it was all perfectly cooked to order. My husband had short ribs and said they were wonderful. We also had cocktails. On hearing we were celebrating our anniversary, our wonderful waiter Paul got free champagne for us. The meal was not cheap at all, but considering we spent $60 on a breakfast buffet somewhere else (and inflation in 2026,) we knew that was coming. Definitely the place to go to celebrate. I had decided on the filet, until our waiter/bartender came over & told us about the grouper special. Now, I don't like mushrooms & I don't like bok choy; however the way he described it- I had to try it! Let me just say, it was the BEST thing I've ever eaten! EVER !!! I drove an hour and was told they only except reservations on Valentine's Day. It says clearly on their website no reservations needed. No where does it say reservations needed for Valentine's Day. The website states their New Year's information nowhere does it say on Valentine's Day reservations only. I was told by the staff " Well it's on the door." And when I said that I can't read their door before coming, I live an hour away, their response "oh well" The OWNER was standing there through the whole interaction with a snub look on her face. She heard everything never apologized she just said " Noted". A simple I'm sorry you came so far but we cannot accommodate you was all that was needed. When I turned around to leave she said "We didn't want you here anyway." Thinking I didn't here her. This is where I felt this was racial. The comment wasn't necessary. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY ŵTO THIS RACIST ESTABLISHMENT. IT SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE MEDIA AND BOYCOTTED UNTIL THEY CANNOT BE IN BUSINESS TO TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY..... after reading some reviews I notice that there are many people of color who had bad service i know they have good reviews but take this into consideration and look at the not so good reviews they are interesting especially the POC that ended up with salty food, after reading that review and my experience I'm sure there's a reason it was salty and it wasn't because that's what the recipe calls for. read more

I learned I am not a fan of cheese on them and would get them without next time (and there will be a next time) but this is not their fault, just a taste preference of mine. From the moment you walk throught the doors, you know Aspen Grille is going to deliver. This is not your usual Myrtle dining experience. The lighting is low, but not dark. The interior is inviting. Tablecloths! You dont see them too often anymore. It feels special, and we'll thought out. Kevin greeted us and brought us our water and bread. He also brought us a cut slab of sweet butter, and a selection of salts- Kona black salt, Ginger salts, Sriracha salt. He explained their taste profiles, like you were tasting wine. They were wonderful. I never enjoyed bread and butter more. The food got better from there. We order Beef Scarpaccia. It was sliced impossibly thin and had capers that tasted somewhere between a flower and fresh pine. We also had grilled octopus and pork bellies. The octopus was done to perfection, a difficult task, and the pork belly was magical. I dont use the word magical lightly - the pork belly was a physical slice when you put it in your mouth and instantly melted away leaving only the full, rich flavor. The entrees, mountain trout and short ribs, were equally good. Go. Go tonight. Say hi to Kevin for us. This restaurant will make you think of Myrtle dining differently. read more

We went again this year for our anniversary. I made the reservation online with the note that it was our anniversary and our table card was for birthday. The calamari and the bread with butter and salts are fantastic. We ordered the same entrees as last year because of how delicious they were. We had a very long wait between appetizers and entrees. The entrees did not live up to last year. The quality of the ingredients had noticeably declined. Our waitress had zero personality and was actually borderline rude. We won't be returning. read more

Great service. Staff and management were very nice. Ambiance was very unimpressive for a "fine dining" establishment. The place was very dark and looked very outdated. Most dishes were a bit on the salty side. Probably some of the worst brussel sprouts I've ever had. The place was overpriced for the quality of the food. The food was good, but for the price it should have been great. The automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 5 or more is charged on the sales and the sales tax. Why are we paying gratuity on taxes? The 72 hour cancellation policy with $25 cancellation charge per person is a bit unreasonable. The 3% surcharge for credit cards and $10 fee for sharing a plate is a bit much. We found this restaurant from a recommendation by Hilton grand vacations club resorts. The service here was excellent, our waitress Melissa was very attentive and the bartender Greg was a badass mixologist and super friendly. The ambiance of the place was upscale casual, so fancy but you don't have to walk in with business attire. It's rare when I go somewhere and I actually like every single item I order but it happened here. The free bread was soft yet had a slight crisp on the outside, the flavored salt board was a cool touch where we had black lava salt, siracha salt and I forgot the third one. The fried oysters were really awesome, they had a spicy aoli under them and was served with mixed greens tossed in a delicious dressing and pickled jalapeños. I mixed some of together and put it on top of the bread and ate each oyster like a sandwich with the sauce and lettuce and it was heavenly. The mushroom risotto was really great. I can't say it was the best I've ever had, but it was shockingly good to have it this good in a small town like Myrtle beach. It probably made it on my top 10 risotto I can remember having. There was that subtle umami taste in the sauce and the mushrooms with that creaminess of the sauce and the scallops were cooked perfectly. I made sure to bite into everything at once The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, they weren't chewy, they were soft fatty and tender you could cut it with a butter knife. The grits were amazing too as a side dish. The blueberry pudding was really good too but the salted caramel ice cream on top really sealed the deal for us! This was a great find! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We enjoyed testing out 3 different salts with our bread at the start of the meal. Our favorite was a siracha salt. If you are a fan of French onion soup then I would recommend trying it here the broth was amazing. When it was time to order our meals we chose a variety of items and I am listing them from best to good. Scallops these were cooked perfectly and were the on top of mushroom risotto(I think this has to be the best thing on the menu). Lamb chops were cooked medium and were tender. The ribeye was seared nicely and miso salmon good but tasted more like a ginger salmon which is also a good thing. For dessert we had the bread pudding and caramel cake. read more

Even my friends call me a Foodie which is really short for piglet. My number one hobby is trying new restaurants in town and of course visiting the old. The Aspen Grill is one of the best. I know this is going to sound unusual, but attention to detail is an understatement when you can get excited about their butter service. The last time I was there, the bread'n butter service was enhanced by the butter served in a rectangular ripple of firm softness with three small piles of granules in different colors of salts or spices... Take your pick...better to spread the butter and then sprinkle your choice from the piles. The rest of the meal was almost anticlimactic after that. No, it really was excellent, as usual. My husband and I ate here last week. What doesn't look like much from the front is absolutely amazing when you walk inside. Our server was fantastic and super attentive. The food was absolutely unbelievable! From the homemade bread to the crabcake appetizer to the French onion soup, and finally surf and turf. Every mouthful we ate was, fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion you have. My husband also said that he had the best old-fashioned drink he had ever had. I went in early on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. It was early so there were only a few other people in the restaurant. I ordered their spicy Maui margarita and it had a kick but was delicious. They make a strong drink. They provided bread with butter prior to my entree. I ordered the special which was halibut with rice and haricot verts but since I hate green beans they switched it out for sautéed spinach. It was delicious and the service was nice. The lady at the bar was very attentive and friendly. Will be back again next time I'm in town. This would probably be a nice place for a romantic dinner. read more

Rarely (pun intended) can you order a steak out and get it the exact temperature you ordered. This ribeye was spot on. I can't fail to mention the service is impeccable.
