Sitting by the ocean enjoying dinner. Nice. Even when it's hot and muggy outside, sitting by the ocean gives you that nice sea breeze providing the perfect landscape to enjoy some food. Kicked off the meal with some grouper bites. Wasn't sure what to expect from them, but pleasantly surprised. They were lightly battered. The grouper was light and flaky and really delicious. They give you a sauce called "Yum Yum" so dipping them in the sauce was a nice touch. Kicked off the meal with a nice fresh side salad with raspberry vinaigrette. Nicely done. Went with the blackened salmon dinner on rice. The server was terrific and very attentive and the meal came out quick and hot. The blackened salmon wasn't overly blackened. The fish was not fishy tasting. The rice and the steamed veggies were both terrific. Slide a cocktail in your hand and just kick back and relax. This is an excellent place. read more

This restaurant is on the entrance to the Apache Pier. Probably 16 tables both inside and on a covered patio. Service was good with exception of having to go up to the bar to get by soda refilled. On the food, my wife ordered Clam Chowder and a fried Shrimp and Oyster basket. She said that the tasted mostly potatoes and little clam in the chowder. Her other issue was that the Oysters weren't fried enough for her. My granddaughter ordered Chicken pasta-she said it had a strange taste and didn't like it. I tasted it and there was a strong peppery taste that was off putting. I had Raw oysters which were fine and blackened grouper which was overcooked but okay. Just not as good as I heard and a price of $120 for 2 adults and 1 child. read more

FIRST VISIT! This isn't the easiest place to find but you will be happy when you do!! They are located in the very back of a huge mobile home park 'community'. There's usually a slight wait, but it was worth every minute. You can sit outside, wait in your car, stroll through the pier market/store or pay to walk out into the pier while you wait. They will call you when your table is ready. We had an awesome waitress (from Greece) who was very helpful for many items in the menu. We did try the Tator Kegs (house made Tator tots stuffed with bacon and cheese) and they were good. Hubby enjoyed his burger and seasoned fries. There was an issue with my first batch of flounder but the kitchen got it right 100% in the second try! The shrimp were delectable and the flounder was spectacular. I will ALWAYS eat at Groupers when in Surfside!!!! It's too good not to!!! read more

Really 4.5 I'd say. Decent view (wish it were on the pier rather than at the side) but food was really good and prices were very fair. Had Nita as our server - sweet lady. Great relaxed vibe as we sat in the huge Adirondak chairs outside. Flounder basket was huge - served grilled. Will be back! read more

This place is awesome! Unless you know where it is, you'll miss it. It is nestled at the back of a campground and you have to go through their gate to get into this place. WORTH THE HASSLE! The restaurant sits at the front of the Apache Pier and has an old south feel to it. The service is always great. The food is always wonderful. Great bar. Great food selection. Highly recommend- our favorite meal during vacation!! We are from WI and we were craving fresh seafood. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the ocean. Service was quick with how busy it was. We ordered grouper bites, hush puppies, bang bang shrimp, flounder seafood basket and grouper meal. There was not 1 thing left on our plate! The bang bang shrimp was definitely a family favorite. We had lunch at Groupers during our fishing adventure on Apache Pier (highly recommend as well!). My husband and son had the bang bang shrimp basket and I the fried catfish basket. I had a wonderful time at Groupers at the Pier. On my visit to Myrtle Beach, I found this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews as we were looking for a good seafood spot on the beach. It was a short drive from our hotel and we were happy to enjoy a view of the ocean as we enjoyed our delicious meal. We opted for the fried shrimp seafood basket and an order of grouper fish. Given it was the namesake of the restaurant, we were curious to try it out. We thoroughly enjoyed the fried shrimp and the dipping sauces were very tasty and made a good pairing for the shrimp. The grouper was quite tasty and we enjoyed the sides that came with it as well. Our servers were prompt with getting us seated and taking our orders, and they checked in with us frequently. This is a nice lunch place for anyone visiting (or living in) Myrtle Beach and a great seafood spot! read more

Walked the beach this morning and wanted some seafood. What a nice surprise when walking up the pier to find Grouper's. Nita was our waitress and she was so nice and came with recommendations of things to do and places to go while we are here. Food was affordable and filling. Appreciated my spicy margarita rimmed with Old Bay seasoning too. Plus was the dolphins were out and we were able to watch them as we ate. First thing is how challenging it is to get to. You have to go through the campground and compete for parking with the people visiting the pier. But now for the things that went well, the Service was very good. Nita was very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We ordered the clam chowder and the calabash shrimp platter. I will say that the food for us was big enough for us to share , but all of it was very good. The standout was the clam chowder was some of the best I've had down in the south. As for the atmosphere, it's a small little quaint restaurant that's attached to the pier so it is in a popular spot. When we are on vacation one of my favorite things to do is discover good eats off the beaten path using Yelp. This was exactly that. Place is a little difficult to find but thanks to another reviewer's advice, we found it very easily. So glad we did. Service was extremely quick and very polite. Hubby got a dozen oysters on the half shell which were good. I got the crab cake, which was divine. For entrees, he got the seafood platter and couldn't finish it (rare for him). I got the grouper basket and also couldn't finish it. Coleslaw was the type with vinegar, which I don't really care for. Hubby loves it, so he ate his and what was left of mine. The grouper was breaded perfectly and the hush puppies were so light and had a touch of sweetness to them. Our friends got the peel and eat shrimp and shrimp pasta. The peel and eat were quite large, and he was very happy with them. We arrived around 8 and even though the small parking lot was full, we were seated right away inside. We never felt rushed even though it was after 9 when we finished our meals. They also had outdoor dining available. Saw several families there. The place wasn't really noisy. Prices were reasonable, especially for the amount of perfectly prepared food we were served. We will definitely eat there again whenever we make it back to Myrtle Beach.
