If you're worried about nobody greeting you as you enter the store, just loudly announce your arrival like I did! Some of you terrified me about your reviews, but a lot of them are a few years old. Well, I went last week to the Conroe/Woodlands location. The current staff is lovely! My cat knocked over one of my favorite lamps at 3 AM. I was expecting to be taken to the cleaners for the repair because frankly, there's no way I would know how to fix a lamp. They said it was a minor repair and they actually did it for free! But they do start out at $50. had it been an even worse repair which I still find very reasonable. And Nina was even able to adjust the lampshade that had been made crooked from the fall and she has a hand brace on! I can't say enough about this place. They look like they have a lovely selection of modern lighting. If I ever go to purchase lighting, I will definitely go there. They have won my trust and business! read more

I came in here for a bathroom light and purchased the display. When I brought it home I noticed that underneath the lights were two cracks. It was impossible to notice these cracks on the display. Both Tim and Nina were quick to offer a solution and they replaced the broken lights. The price was fair and the customer service was great. I will definitely be back. read more

This is a good sized store with an excellent selection of lights. I've visited other lighting stores that have the same display inventory for what seems to be the last 15 years. Not so at Carol's: they had a ton of lights with the latest styles, while still having a good selection of "the classics". We ended up buying two fixtures from Heidi and they make one heck of a change to our rooms. The fixtures were delivered about a week later and one of them showed up with damage. Heidi did not blink an eye: she apologized profusely and immediately worked with us to arrange for a replacement light to be sent out. read more

I showed up pretty much to closing, not realizing it and as soon as I got to the door the girl Working locked the doors. I needed about 15 fixtures and was going to spend a good amount, no way in hell will I spend my money here. Pre-paid for lighting and shop ordered, with an estimated delivery of 2 weeks. Two months later and promised another 2 weeks we had to cancel the order and move on. Not the best customer service either, plenty of let me look into this and we'll call you back, with no return calls. If I could leave zero stars I would. We walked in hoping to find amazing lighting for our home renovation project and no one even said hello. We were in the store for approximately twenty minutes watching employees laugh over a personal conversation and they still couldn't be bothered to look up and say hello, much less ask if we needed help. I can say, hands down, that I've never been treated as shabbily as I was by the stuck up and pretentious "sales person" today. My wife and I walked in to ask about LED bulbs and after a brief, 30 second conversation knew that we weren't welcome at Carol's. To the snobby sales person, here's a free life lesson; you never know who strangers are and they might just have more grace than you and choose not to call out your ignorance and better-than-you attitude. This store is really surprising - it seems HUGE inside and the selection is almost mind-numbing. Prices vary from some bargains, some good deals all the way to "you must be kidding me". That said the choice is great, the service excellent - I will definitely be back! read more

The customer service or lack there of is baffling. The previous reviews are absolutely correct. Walked in and there was one customer in the entire store and at least 3 sales associates, all of which not one of them took the time to greet my husband and I. I made eye contact with one of the associates not once but twice as she was walking towards us and made lengthy eye contact and still no word. As I furiously walked out after about 5 minutes of being there I said "hi, how are you" to the associate, she continued walking and only until I had one foot out of the door did she say "good" Are you kidding me. I manage a business myself here in The Woodlands and the snooty stuck up attitude would never be acceptable in our establishment. Save your time and money and go somewhere else where they value you and your business. read more

Excellent family owned lighting company!! My husband and I were in the building business for 22 years and Carol's was our lighting company the entire time! They are the best! I've read a couple of reviews where people said they did not receive good service. This is definitely not the Carol's I've known for so many years. Please give them another chance. Carol's has a pretty extensive selection of indoor and outdoor lighting. They carry anything from moderately priced items to chandeliers that are the price of a small car. They tend to keep most items in stock. It is true that sales reps can be a bit stuffy at times but overall there are few options more attractive than carols. read more

Well, I'm not sure what it takes to get someone to acknowledge you in this shop. I may have looked a bit casual, but my wife didn't. She was wonderfully dressed, as always. We walked in ready to buy. It took us 3 minutes to choose our lamp, a Tiffany knock-off for around $300. I mulled around the counter, but it didn't matter where I stood or gestured, I was ignored. It would have been comical if I hadn't driven 45 minutes to visit this particular shop. It only took a glance from my wife across the room to understand we were leaving. I read the reviews awful customer service before I went in so I wasn't expecting much and I wasn't disappointed. The management/owners of this place would do themselves a favor if they read their own reviews but couldn't find lights or fans I liked at the box stores so I gave it a shot. The place was a zoo, customers everywhere but there was a nice lady at the desk who did help us find a sale person. What I eventually figured out was none people sitting behind the desk in the middle of the store are sales people they are office people. Dumb place to have them as it gives the impression that they should say "HI, can I help you" and when they don't it feels like they could care less about your business. The prices were reasonable, paid the same as I would have for crap I didn't really like at Home Depot and got better cust service than I ever would have gotten at a box store once I got the sales gal. They plugged lights for me. Heck even wired up a couple to plug in. Changed bulb wattage and style did everything I asked and got the sale. I would shop here again and I would send my friends but I would tell them not to expect that they are going to be fawning all over you when you walk in the door and to be assertive and interrupt one of those gals at the desk and have them find a sales person. I love my lights and fans, so much better than anything at at either HD or Lowes and very reasonably priced. read more

Wow not one person said hello, good morning or anything. How incredibly rude can you be??? The selection is rather large but confusing because there is stuff online that isn't in the shop and having no one assisting makes it tough. Argh!! I ended up going to Anthology Lighting on FM 2978. Talk about experience. Night and day different. Michelle was friendly and super helpful. She acknowledged me when I walked in and was warm and inviting. They have ALL the same lights as Carols and WAY WAY friendlier people. No brainer. Go here instead. read more

Although we had read the old reviews about the terribly unfriendly sales staff, we had just the opposite experience today. They were WONDERFUL!! Greeted us quickly after we entered. Explained their setup and the items on sale today. Were very helpful and called in extra staff to answer our specific questions. They spent a good deal of time with us despite the fact it was late on a Saturday afternoon, approaching their closing time. We couldn't have asked for a better, friendlier, or more helpful and solicitous lighting store --- and we have visited several high end ones recently. We highly would recommend Carol's Lighting for all interior and exterior home lighting needs. We will be their customer again! read more

Visited today looking for a chandelier. The products are overpriced, but that isn't the issue. The sales person was the most snooty, aloof, unhelpful person that we have ever dealt with. I don't know how they ever sell anything with that attitude. It wasn't as if we looked like we didn't have any money. My wife had a business suit on and looked like she could have been a lawyer. Went to the store in The Woodlands today looking for a 50"-60" tall chandelier. We were in the store about 15 minutes and walked by the center sales desk four times. We got a couple of smiles from the salespeople, but no one asked if we needed help. There was one customer in the store being helped by a salesman; a half dozen saleswomen were looking at their computer and being very unconcerned.. Other than that, not much was going on. I sarcastically said, "Y'all were very helpful" on my way out, and the salesman told me to have a nice evening. Nobody was even aware we hadn't been waited on. They lost me, as if they care. I would like to give 5 stars to the ONLY sales person at Carol's in 17 years, who is knowledgeable, patient, helpful and very nice and personable. In all the years I've been "trying" to patronize this store, I've always walked away hoping I don't have to go back any time soon. Jamie is new at Carols and she made my shopping enjoyable. She let me take a couple of books home, asked to help me, when another woman walked right past me and asked a couple who had just arrived if they needed help (I'd been waiting for 10 minutes.) The minute Jamie came into the room, she asked if she could help me. Anyway, this store has always been a little stuffy and sales people not overly nice. When I ask for out-of the-ordinary but needed lighting supplies, I've twice been answered with a cold, "no." (a glass replacement shade for a pendant light, an odd light bulb.) No offer to help me UNLESS I had bought the fixture through them. It was an original fixture and was there when I bought the house. etc. etc. Just not helpful, EXCEPT FOR JAMIE! read more
