Best bar in Chicago. Would give 10 stars if i could. Was even better before the renovation. It was the best bar in Chicago then too. Keep in mind that if you don't like good live music and if you don't like to get booty ass wasted and maybe make out with a rando in front of your wife then another bar bight be better for you. The new Carol's Pub is basically what happens when a successful bar owner thinks of a dive bar. As others have said, this is not anywhere close to the same experience as the old Carol's Pub. That's not necessarily a bad thing, unless you miss how filthy and dingy the previous iteration was. The new Carol's is incredibly clean, from the bathrooms to the tabletops. The new owners, to their infinite credit, maintained some of the charm of the old place by keeping the vintage neon lights. The atmosphere here is just fun -- like really, really fun, especially if you like country music. The sound system is loud but not overpowering, so even if you're sitting right next to the stage, you can still hold a conversation without screaming. Highly recommend the bourbon Moscow Mule, or their house old fashioned, both of which are terrific. Bottom line -- It is lovely to see a Chicago institution like Carol's getting new life and thriving with large crowds and a great atmosphere on a Saturday night. read more

I really like this place for a number of reasons. Food is very good. Live music, beer and whiskey also. So I recommend. However, if you care about mask wearing, staff here pretty much does not care - some do some don't and that is not a one off observation. read more

I was there for a concert and enjoyed the venue. There should be a wee bit more walking / dancing space by the stage, but all in all it was a great place for a local show. If an opportunity comes up to expand the space, I highly recommend it. read more

Recently my friends and I walked here after a Cubs game. My sister had raves about the new amazing food and I had to give it a shot. The place was pretty empty around 5ish on a Sunday. Most tables were also ordering food. The bar was really clean as well as the bathrooms. I enjoyed the open kitchen concept where you can literally watch them cook your food. Service was great and we appreciated the pitcher of water on the table. My one complaint was the price of craft beer. It was exactly twice the price of other beer. That's crazy to me. $8 for a Daisy Cutter draft is robbery ... but I paid it. read more

I ordered through Uber Eats and was beyond happy when I saw Carols Pub pop as now delivering. Wow! All I can, Wow! Stopped into Carols last Thursday night.... in a few words: FANTASTIC bar with incredible live music, ice cold beer, and delicious food! This Chicago institution was given a complete makeover a few years back and it's clear a tremendous amount of attention especially went into the food. We ordered cheese curds, a chicken sandwich, and a double cheeseburger. Everything was perfect! The cheese curds are hand breaded to order and were tremendous. The chicken sandwich and the burger were also both AMAZING. We loved everything about this bar and will be back many more times this year!! read more

Best service of any bar I've ever been to! Each employee treats you like a special guest, no matter how busy they are. I love how there's always live music and it's often very busy, but if you arrive when there is not an optimal place to sit, they will remember you and will make sure to move you to a better place to sit when one becomes available. read more

Love the food, drinks are good, and love the events they have (karaoke and live music). Unfortunately service is usually....only ok. Tonight I came in at 6 pm to a packed bar area but everything else was empty. I saw a bunch of tables open, all with a sign that said it was reserved at 8:30pm. I thought, that's 2.5 hours away and I'm only here for the fried bologna sandwich, I'll be done in 30 minutes max. I sit down and immediately an employee comes over to point at the sign and say it's reserved. I reply that it's reserved at 8:30 and it's only 6pm. I get a dead stare and she walks away. While she leaves I try to ask if there's somewhere else to sit. Not a single employee acknowledges me nor guides me to somewhere to sit. So I leave. Sucks that woman couldn't take a moment to help me find seat. Additionally it's unfortunate they chose to reserve seats when there was so much time until that reservation arrived. read more

This neighborhood bar is a hidden gem. I love that it doesn't feel like the bougie overpriced part of Chicago. It's down to earth and has some natural grunge. They have some good deals and good food. The vodka lemonade is the best deal! Ariel is so nice. And the other bartenders and servers are too, I just don't know their names. I love the feel of this place. read more

Do not order food from Carol's. You'll wait an hour and then DoorDash will tell you that Carol's canceled your order. I've placed three delivery orders and the same thing happened each time. As a country fan, I can't help but love this pub. Carol's is consistently playing country western music, either from the jukebox or up on stage with local bands and karaoke. While I have not yet tried karaoke myself, I have heard that this is the place to go in Chicago. What I like even more is their food. For pub food, it's spectacular. I especially love their $7 burger and $6 Chicago dog with fries. Such a good deal for the price! Plus they have $2 Busch light on Tuesday! It's a must. read more

This is my favorite bar i love this place. Great live music good atmosphere and a decent cocktail. I've been missing this place since it closed. Drove by last week and seen that it reopened. Still has it old dive bar charm. If your looking to have a good time check this gem out. I rarely give a five star rating but this deserves one. Spend New Years there. It still has what was great about old Carols but now it's clean. The place was jammed, We brought our friends there and they had a great time. The service was fast and friendly. The band Trailer Park Twisters were fun and got the place dancing. I am so happy this place reopened good luck and I will be back!!!! read more

Old Carol's was a special place. New Carol's has preserved everything good about the old version, and has upgraded many of those aspects. It has also fixed everything that was lacking in the previous incarnation. In my opinion, this is now the best bar in the city. Check out a night when the Moonlight Pickers are playing! read more

Great neighborhood place! Burgers are delish and cheap. It's the perfect spot to grab a burger and beer.

Just ok- I thought after reading all the hype about their burger that it would at least be a house made patty, it wasn't juicy and had that frozen chewiness you come to expect from Burger King or somewhere else. The fries pickles were seasoned well and were ok just wish they packed in some way that the steam could escape like just poking a hole in the top most places do this. They were pretty soggy . Everything was hot and on time I'll give them that. Just think they are over charging for frozen burgers on my opinion nothing special . Maybe I'll give it a try in person when available again.you guys are so close just shouldn't cut corners. This was a grubhub order dont always believe the hype from drunk people. read more

Love this place so much. I've had drinks and burgers on their sidewalk seating area on several occasions during the COVID-19 restrictions. The food was great and the drinks were excellent. I'd highly recommend stopping by and giving support to this local spot. They also have $4 Jell-O shots which they donate a portion to a different charity group each month. The music is lively and the staff keeps extra sanitary precautions. 5 stars. read more
