Smoked Paloma - delicious and exquisitely crafted. And yes, it's on fire.

I've been to G&L semi-regularly over the past few years and am a fan of the renovations and updates made in early 2022. The atmosphere is classy and cozy, with flexibility to turn into party-mode with relative ease (I see you, disco ball). The rotating beer and seasonal cocktail menus are a nice touch to keep things fresh. Digressing to the cocktails - I'm particularly happy with the selection of strong classics and popular faves along with more chic options where the bartenders bring their own twist and flavor to complete the variety. What keeps me coming back, and much of which contributes to the atmosphere, are the bartenders. All are welcoming, attentive, and charming in their unique styles and skillsets. Their personalities shine through wonderful music selections - may be jazz, indie rock or even Taylor Swift, and they're open to recommendations - or use of the TVs for ambience - sports, images of Monet paintings or psychedelic cartoons - which make for an enjoyable experience on every visit. The consistent thread I've experienced among them are the perfect Guinness pours, excellently crafted cocktails, and stellar customer service to regulars and new patrons alike. Kudos to the owners on their hiring selection!

Visited on our walk and it did NOT disappoint. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and the drinks are very unique and interesting. Preston, our bartender, was so personable and wonderful - we can't wait to make this our go-to spot. Tried the Clover Club because I'm a sucker for a cocktail with egg white. 8/10 - refreshing and not overly sweet.

Cozy mood and a very nice bartender. The cocktails were tasty but pricy, which is common at most of bars though.

Outstanding vibe, the refresh of this place is incredible. Exactly where I want to be on a casual night out. Preston was an amazing bartender - mixed up a terrific mezcal old fashioned. First time here but we will definitely be back soon.

Inviting place until the bartender stops serving you for talking to other patrons at the bar.

Warm and lovely British pub with delicious pies and efficient service…read more My dining partner and I tried the mushroom and kale and the rocking vegan pies. The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

Everything I could ask for in a English pub. Great beer…read moremenu, enough different options but a clear focus on bitters, ales, pub ales, etc. Started with a scotch edge and it was delicious. The sausage was very tasty, the breading on the outside was incredibly crisp, light, and the egg inside was cooked well. Both the steak pie and the chicken pie were very good. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

The decor looks historic with dark wood walls, beautiful molding, and of course antique sports memorabilia. It is in Chicago after all!! The menu items that were highlighted was the prime rib, while supplies last and the ribs. I tried to go with the prime rib but at 7:30 it was sold out. The bartenders suggested the French dip sandwich with shaved prime rib but went with the ribs instead. Smoked daily the ribs were tender and moist with a very sweet homemade BBQ sauce. I prefer my sauce on the spicy side but it was delicious, the shrimp were fried and crispy, served with fresh cocktail sauce. I opted for the fries and side salad but were good. The Greek vinaigrette dressing was delicious. The bartender was super engaging and knowledgeable. I hat his signature Ole Fashion and a glass of cab from their list. Both were great You need to eat here!!

The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant.

Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. The food is actually good and can be talked about in reviews because some people actually come here to eat, which tells you how they actually have a kitchen. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. It's located at the intersection of Jackson and Wabash close to lots of fun. The brewery has food that's better than expected but many other things about this kind of stuff are typical.
