I love this place. I've eaten here a couple of times and have always been impressed. I just wish it wasn't so far away, up in Blaine (seemingly just south of Duluth -- kidding). Everything seems fresh and homemade. I LOVE hot turkey sandwiches and consider myself a turkey sandwich snob because the quality of different restaurants vary so much. Carol's is the real deal with obviously hand-carved pieces of real turkey that are as good as Thanksgiving leftovers from your mom (assuming your mom was a great cook). The gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce were equally excellent. My wife had a tuna sandwich, and a cup of tomato soup. Service was quick and friendly. Although the inside of Carol's reminds you of Perkins, the food quality is consistently high. I have not been here for breakfast, but that seems to be another of their specialties. It's impressive to find an old-time, high quality, high variety diner experience in town (well, almost in town) and I'm so happy that places like Carol's still exist. read more

I had heard many great things about Carol's in Blaine and it didn't disappoint. It's a classic American restaurant known for its bakery and breakfast/ brunch. Walking in you see slices of fresh baked pies and bars, I loved it because they really looked housemade and not fancy elegant. Made me feel like I need to try everything. While I didn't get a chance to I'll be back for that. We were seated right away. There are plenty of tables and seating. The staff was quick and knew what they were doing. We had the buttermilk pancakes, came with butter, syrup and a fruit sauce. Those pancakes were delicious. Reminded me of the pancakes at the State Fair Hamline church breakfast. Also had a side of hashbrowns. I added cheddar and onions. There was an option for pepper jack as well. They were very good. Oily, flavorful and super cheesy! The Corn beef hash was very good as well. The orange juice came in a cute glass with an orange slice. It said fresh somewhere on the menu, but it wasn't that. The usual. Prices were low. We usually eat breakfast at Carol's. We stopped going because the food was never warm and sometimes even cold On Friday on July 3rd, we thought we try dinner there. I ordered the ribs and again they came out cold not warm but cold. Carols used to be a good but it seems they are more worried about is getting you in and out. It seems like the food is premade and sits in a warmer until you order it. That's a poor way to run a restaurant. I'm done with Carol's. read more

The food was awhful the country gravy was broken and oily and gross. The pancakes tasted off like something was fried right before they put those on the griddle. The taco omelet my husband had wasn't even a omelet it was a egg with taco meat on the outside and it was so salty it tasted like you where licking a salt lick. When we mentioned it and a manager came she seemed very annoyed that we where bothering her with this. They offered us something else but if that foos was nasty why would we want something else. We didnt even eat our food and yet we got charged for one full meal and we didnt even eat it. Was horribly disappointed and disgusted with how we where treated and the quailty of food was terrible. I've been to Carol's many times and if you are looking for great comfort food this is the place! The restaurant is kind of tucked away but easy enough to find. It's a nice sized restaurant with plenty of tables and booths but it gets BUSY! Thankfully they have a decent waiting area and offer plenty of seating while you wait (Thank you Carol's!!). There is also a gift shop attached which has some really lovely things and a fun thing to do while waiting for a table or after your mea. While waiting, also check out the dessert cases! You just don't see desserts like this very often and I would highly recommend leaving room for one (or taking something home)! The food is Diner comfort food and always tasty! I am addicted to their Turkey dinner and have had that the last 4 times I've been there, but have also been impressed with their breakfasts and LOVE their Signature salad!! The Turkey dinner comes with a salad or soup (you can upgrade to that Signature salad) and the meal has a pile of delicious turkey, homemade stuffing, real mashed potatoes, the most yummy Sweet potato casserole, and steamed veggies of some sort. All delicious!! My mom this time had the Pot Roast dinner which was a special that day and came with the same sides. The beef gravy on that was SO good and the meat was tender. I have lived in Blaine for 20 years and had only eaten at Carols once. What the heck was I thinking?! This place makes everything from scratch. For lunch I ordered the turkey club (or turkey BLT?) and it came with a huge slice of REAL, moist turkey breast. So delicious! The sandwich was huge. Tried the raspberry fritter bread french toast. The french toast itself was good, but the raspberry sauce that came with it was AMAZING. Four of us had a late breakfast today, Saturday, on the patio. Parking lot was deceptively full.... thought we would have a wait. Seated right away. Entered to a few couches, a large bakery display case and The Vintage Rose boutique off to the right. We were seated at the only round patio table without an umbrella so as the sun kept peeking through the trees .... we asked to move to the table next to us. Our server gave us the go ahead. My nephew ordered the blueberry pancakes. Which the server immediately informed them: they can be prepared two ways: the blueberries cooked in them or on top w cream for a compote. They opted for the compote and said they were delicious! My niece opted for regular pancakes, also delicious. My mom opted for a Taste of Heaven omelet w bacon and the side of pancakes. I opted for a Taste of Heaven omelet w sausage w a side of wheat toast. My toast came w a scratch jam. I declined the fruit option when she said it was pineapple, cantaloupe and green grapes. To my delightful surprise my sausage wasn't breakfast sausage links it was kielbasa. The lobby is built for the busy wait that is always a possibility. A few couches, and benches along the wall. Seated right away. Got drinks and apps ordered and delivered in record time. The restaurant is kind of boring atmosphere and decor wise but the food is great. This was our first time there. My husband had the fish and fries, which also came with Cole slaw all very good. Then there was dessert. I normally never get dessert but heard that the carrot cake was amazing. I came here for dinner with my son and granddaughter. The food and restaurant service was very good. Then we went into the gift shop. It was one of the nicest gifts shops I've been in. We found several items we were considering, but we noticed the woman staffing the shop was staring at every move we made, and she was not shy about the staring. Then she turned the nice, soothing music off. THEN she closed and locked the door while we were still there. She made it clear, although nonverbal, that we were suspect and not welcome. We are honest, hard-working small business owners, and we did not appreciate being treated like criminals. Needless to say, we did not make a purchase, and we will not return. A very nice hidden gem for breakfast or brunch. There is a vintage gift shop attached at the entrance when you enter. Definitely check it out for some good vintage finds. Wait time was good and it didn't took long to get seated on a Saturday at 10. The front had some ginormous cinnamon rolls and fresh pies! Service was friendly and quick. The menu had a variety of your classic breakfast dishes. We got the pancakes and biscuit and gravy. Everything tasted great, even the drinks we got. I love how they have a good variety of tea, coffee and non coffee drinks also. Really love the Caramel Coffee I got! There was plenty of seating inside and additional seating outdoor. Parking was pretty big so there was no issue finding a parking spot. Overall everything was good, but minus a star for our utensil and cup to be dirty from not being cleaned well. The cup of water had a piece of wet food stuck on the inside right above the water. The set of new utensil we got had a dirty spoon wrapped inside. This is my gramas and I's 4th time here, The food always is delicious! The service today was a little slow but not bad. Of course I got iced tea, my grandmas got coke and sprite! Obviously a 10/10. This is a nice little Ma and Pa place in the big City of Blaine. My son's family live in Blaine and I have had this place "bookmarked" for quite some time. A couple weeks ago we had the chance to visit. Unfortunately the place was still struggling from the effects of covid-19 and only had a partial menu. But what was on the menu was plenty. The place is a nice cozy place that looks nothing like a chain. It could probably pass for a roadside diner from many years gone by. Tables and booths fill the dining area. The wait staff is very friendly and prompt for your every need. I decided to go with the special of the day, Country Fried Chicken dinner, which was not on the menu. I'm glad I did! Everything was homemade right down to the cranberry side. The chicken was juicy and the gravel had wonderful flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted like real ones but I didn't ask. The veggies...well they were probably good too but I left them for last and didn't have any room left for them! However, I did get a banana crème pie to go. It tasted good the next day. Our server, Tracy, was on the ball, funny, friendly, and made the experience truly enjoyable. The country fried steak had a crispy, homemade-like breading and was savory. Everything was good, the pumpkin pancake was served with whipping cream and it made the pancake just melt in my mouth.
