Love this place. Definitely one of the best breakfast places in the Twin Cities. I normally get the Juevos Rancheros Con Papas Favorito which is the absolutely best Juevos Rancheros breakfast dish in the Twin Cities. I've tried so many and non bear this place. This time though I decided to try their special Albuquerque Omelette and it was amazing!!! Filled with cheese and hatch chilis then smothered in half red and half green hatch chilis. It was huge and so good. You definitely need to be able to tolerate some heat though. It's more than Minnesotan spicy. Next time I want to try one of the Fruit Fritters. I saw so many coming out of the kitchen and it looked amazing! Weekends the place is packed and they are not open for dinner. I went on a weekday morning and got in right away. Fat nats in Brooklyn Park is a solid choice for breakfast if you're in the area. We had the Mike's omelette which has ham, cheese and red potatoes inside and topped with hollandaise sauce. We also had the Norm's which has ham, bacon, veggies and cheese. I also got a side of avocado verde which is good but spicy. Boderline to spicy to even enjoy. Omelette's come with toast or a pancake. Both omelettes were good. The portions are huge. You can add a side of hashbrowns but we usually find the omelette is plenty big. Service is quick, almost to quick. There was a long wait list upon arrival (Sunday morning, so it was expected). It moved surprisingly quickly which made our wait fairly short (11th in line when we checked in, ~20min wait). There was a surprising amount of Mexican influence on american classics, which was great to see. Ordered the build your own omelette meal: cheese, sausage, bacon, and broccoli, with a side of hash browns, and a pancake. The sausage and bacon were pretty good, but the broccoli was very undercooked and in large pieces, which made it a bit awkward to eat as part of the omelette. The pancake had a different flavor, which I can only describe as chlorinated water, not a big fan and didn't finish it. Lots of people ordering the eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado, so that may be something to try. Lots of seating, fast service, decent food, just a few things that did not live up to the hype. read more

We anticipated quite a long wait considering we visited in the late morning on a Sunday. While we were listed about 10 or so parties down, we were called to sit within less than 20 minutes. We overheard someone mention the portion sizes were large, so we opted to split a meal. I'm happy to say we're glad we split and are currently full as two adults with an appetite. We split a build your own omelette with sausage, bacon, and broccoli then chose cheddar cheese with it. The omelette was stuffed full of ingredients. The bacon was meaty and plentiful, the sausage was torn up patties, and the broccoli was undercooked considering the size of the florets. The hash browns looked phenomenal but lacked flavor and seemed to be overcooked internally. The pancake was large and paired well with the butter and syrup on the table. The service was both prompt and friendly. This is clearly a popular spot considering the number of tables filled on a Sunday during the brunch rush. Fat Nats is hearty and consistently delicious. Expect a 15-10 min wait on the weekends. They have a good size waiting area with seating . This restaurant seats many people so they turn tables quickly. There is always a special going on for a great price. This feels like a neighborhood diner, loud, all different types of people gather for good food. The portions are huge, everyone was walking out with to go containers. The service is quick and the waitress was knowledgeable and kind. The omelets have big chunks of meat and veggies. The omelets are named after peoples name. I had the David. David took up the entire length of the plate. Haha The Hollandaise was very good. I love their crispy Hashbrowns. Each omelette came with bread and they had offered at least 5 different types. Fat Nat's is a throwback in time. A blend of old school diner and your moms oversized kitchen they are serving up delicious food in a home style environment. I am a huge fan of the many variations of Eggs Benedict as well as the French toast. They also have awesome chorizo which reminds me of California. One warning, the pancakes have almond and if you aren't a fan of the Nordic tradition of almond switch your sweet cake order, it's noticeable. Love this place and will keep coming back read more

Great place for breakfast. Been here a few times, never disappointing. My go to is always Emily's Omelette with Turkey, SPICY avocado verde, tomato, onion, bacon and cheese. The spicy Avocado Verde has some heat to it but with everything it's perfect. Last time I decided to try something new so I ordered the Green Chili Huevos with American fries, black beans with over easy eggs served on crisp tortillas, covered in homemade new mexican hatch green chili sauce. We arrived about half an hour before closing on Saturday. People were finishing up and leaving so it was a perfect time. A table had to be cleared but we were seated in less than five minutes. Our waitress came to the table and got drinks and told us she would be right back for our order. I ordered a veggie omelette with whole wheat toast my husband got eggs bacon avocado Benedict with Hash browns. We didn't have to wait long for our food. It was very good. The hash browns were possibly the best we ever had so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We saw lots of people leaving with Togo containers and the pancakes were huge. The place doesn't look fancy, more like an old fashioned dinner, but the food was pretty great, and we don't have any complaints about the service. Our waitress made sure to keep our coffee cups filled! We split an order of blueberry pancakes which were a tad try; they were huge though! My friend had the veggie omelette with American potatoes. She liked her omelette the potatoes were pretty taste, with just a hint of spicy aftertaste, almost like Cajun seasoning. The Fat Nat Slider was pretty amazing. There was A LOT of hollandaise sauce on it, but that was just fine for the leftovers. Hash brown and eggs were cooked just right. We definitely got too much food and didn't have to think about dinner! I got the Elmer's which included 2 pancakes (which tasted really good and like they had almond extract), bacon, eggs (how you want it), toast, and french fries. For $.50 I switched to hashbrowns, and for a whopping $1.95 added cheese to the eggs. It was tons of food and enough to feed two. If I were going home afterwards I would have taken the rest to go. Great greasy spoon breakfast place. The staff are friendly. The ownership has mixed reviews from locals but the food is always good. They doubled their square footage a couple of years back so getting a table isn't tough. The ambiance is vert breakfast diner-esque but that's perfect for what it is. Their pancakes are unique. The blueberry pancake was so perfect that I ate it without syrup. Exceeded all expectations. I mixed the avocado sauce and the tomato onion sauce together and smothered it on top of the eggs. This place is your classic hole in the wall diner style breakfast. The inside was nothing special but they were able to seat out large group of 10 + 4 babies easily. Prices were fair and service was excellent considering our large group. The menu emphasizes a Mexican spin on Benedict's, omelets, and their chilaquiles. They make their own salsas and sauces too which is a nice touch. We all loved the bacon and spicy avocado Benedict! The pancakes were better than expected and we also loved the Julies egg scramble. Place was full around 11 on Saturday and I sat at the end of the counter. What I got was a show. The music was blaring the cooks having a great time. I've never seen staff enjoy themselves so much. It sure doesn't slow them down. I ordered as soon as I sat down and within 5 minutes I got the biggest omelet I ever had. There was a sign that said chili cheese, you should order anything that has those two words in it. It was so delicious before I knew it it was devoured. Great service by Alex. Both locations are top-shelf. Never had a bad meal at Fat Nat's. Southwest-style breakfasts, as well as standard "Family Restaurant" fare. Even if it's crazy busy, the service is great. Only complaint would be that they can indeed get "crazy busy" on weekends. I don't think I've ever waited longer than 20 minutes, though, which may not sound like much if you're not really hungry when you get there! And I usually am! I really like the papas - a lot of places will do home fries/American fries as undercooked, greasy spuds, but theirs are well-cooked and even crispy if you didn't order something that covers everything in melty cheese or hollandaise. Our server showed us a few of the more popular items and made recommendations on her favorite plates as well. I ended up going with "Julie's," a breakfast scramble stuffed with chorizo, peppers, and cheese. When our plates arrived, we stared dumbfounded. Each plate could have easily fed two of us! We dug in, the sounds of satisfaction evident around the table. Everything was delicious, which was great because we all took home leftovers! We had breakfast here. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots. Walking in it doesn't look fancy. It looks old and dated but the food is amazing. As much as we like to try new things we had our favorite. We had eggs bacon avocado benedict. This is a fresh toasted English muffin topped with a tomato, bacon an egg, hollandaise sauce and the most delicious and a little spicy avocado verde. Everything was cooked and plated perfectly. For our side we got the hash browns. Nice and crispy on the edges. Nice large portion. We also got a blueberry pancake. These pancakes are as large if not larger than the plate. Great flavor and a perfect amount of blueberries. Topped it with a smidge of peanut butter and syrup. Our server Molly was a great sport. We had a large group with confusing orders.
