    Norm's omelette with avocado verde
    Stephanie P.

Fat nats in Brooklyn Park is a solid choice for breakfast if you're in the area. We had the Mike's omelette which has ham, cheese and red potatoes inside and topped with hollandaise sauce. We also had the Norm's which has ham, bacon, veggies and cheese. I also got a side of avocado verde which is good but spicy. Boderline to spicy to even enjoy. Omelette's come with toast or a pancake. Both omelettes were good. The portions are huge. You can add a side of hashbrowns but we usually find the omelette is plenty big. Service is quick, almost to quick. We were in and out within 30ish minutes on a busy Saturday morning.

There was a long wait list upon arrival (Sunday morning, so it was expected). It moved surprisingly quickly which made our wait fairly short (11th in line when we checked in, ~20min wait). There was a surprising amount of Mexican influence on american classics, which was great to see. Ordered the build your own omelette meal: cheese, sausage, bacon, and broccoli, with a side of hash browns, and a pancake. The sausage and bacon were pretty good, but the broccoli was very undercooked and in large pieces, which made it a bit awkward to eat as part of the omelette. The pancake had a different flavor, which I can only describe as chlorinated water, not a big fan and didn't finish it. Lots of people ordering the eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado, so that may be something to try. Lots of seating, fast service, decent food, just a few things that did not live up to the hype.

Build Your Own Omelette - sausage, bacon, broccoli with hashbrowns

We anticipated quite a long wait considering we visited in the late morning on a Sunday. While we were listed about 10 or so parties down, we were called to sit within less than 20 minutes. We overheard someone mention the portion sizes were large, so we opted to split a meal. I'm happy to say we're glad we split and are currently full as two adults with an appetite. We split a build your own omelette with sausage, bacon, and broccoli then chose cheddar cheese with it. The omelette was stuffed full of ingredients. The bacon was meaty and plentiful, the sausage was torn up patties, and the broccoli was undercooked considering the size of the florets. The hash browns looked phenomenal but lacked flavor and seemed to be overcooked internally. The pancake was large and paired well with the butter and syrup on the table. The service was both prompt and friendly. This is clearly a popular spot considering the number of tables filled on a Sunday during the brunch rush. Note: the majority of the menu items do not allow adjustments.

Fat Nats is hearty and consistently delicious. Expect a 15-10 min wait on the weekends. They have a good size waiting area with seating . This restaurant seats many people so they turn tables quickly. There is always a special going on for a great price. This feels like a neighborhood diner, loud, all different types of people gather for good food. The portions are huge, everyone was walking out with to go containers. The service is quick and the waitress was knowledgeable and kind. The omelets have big chunks of meat and veggies. The omelets are named after peoples name. I had the David. David took up the entire length of the plate. Haha The Hollandaise was very good. I love their crispy Hashbrowns. Each omelette came with bread and they had offered at least 5 different types. This breakfast is filling and I walked away with breakfast again for another day for this one $15 omelet. This is a twin cities favorite

Simple diner style place. Well done with good food, quick and friendly service and hot coffee. All of the servers were kind and conversational. If I lived closer this would be a weekly place to visit.

I have been hearing about this place for years and finally had the chance to try it. Went on a sunday morning with a friend so it was a bit of a wait, but worth it. Once we were sat, service was fast. The fruit fritter french toast was amazing and always gotta get a side of bacon. They have a really great menu with tons of options. Can't wait to return and maybe try something new but the french toast might be hard to resist!

Great place for breakfast. Been here a few times, never disappointing. My go to is always Emily's Omelette with Turkey, SPICY avocado verde, tomato, onion, bacon and cheese. The spicy Avocado Verde has some heat to it but with everything it's perfect. Last time I decided to try something new so I ordered the Green Chili Huevos with American fries, black beans with over easy eggs served on crisp tortillas, covered in homemade new mexican hatch green chili sauce. Got carnitas with spicy salsa verde on it. Very delicious and heat was just perfect for me. Service is always great. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu.

The place doesn't look fancy, more like an old fashioned dinner, but the food was pretty great, and we don't have any complaints about the service. Our waitress made sure to keep our coffee cups filled! We split an order of blueberry pancakes which were a tad try; they were huge though! My friend had the veggie omelette with American potatoes. She liked her omelette the potatoes were pretty taste, with just a hint of spicy aftertaste, almost like Cajun seasoning. The Fat Nat Slider was pretty amazing. There was A LOT of hollandaise sauce on it, but that was just fine for the leftovers. Hash brown and eggs were cooked just right. We definitely got too much food and didn't have to think about dinner! Downside: none of the staff wore masks or asked to see vaccines cards which I believe is still a requirement in restaurants in MN.

KUDOS! I definitely love that about this place and want to continue to visit because they care about their people. As far as today's food, I wanted to try something outside of the box and not yet featured on Yelp, so I opted for the Southern Style Fried Chicken and Waffle. The waffle, no notes, tasty, not doughy, simple. The sausage gravy, delicious. The jalapeño cream cheese syrup, absolutely my favorite part of the whole dish. The chicken, let's discuss. Four pieces on top the waffle, and looked like a ton until I started digging in. Way over breaded (see photos), chicken was tasty and moist but the breading was way too much. If you love extra breading, this is perfect. If you don't mind peeling off a lot of extra breading, this dish is a good offering. Overall, a better food experience than the last visit, maybe 3rd visit will take them to a 5 star rating. There is Hope for Hope.

He told me back then that someday we needed to check out J&J's. We love small business, local, non-chain restaurants. I decided to surprise my husband and take him to J&J's for Father's Day. We are empty nesters, so it was just the two of us for lunch. We arrived just after 12 p.m. There was a line out the door, which we expected since it was Father's Day and Sunday lunchtime. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, which we had no issue with. We ended up waiting less than 10 minutes because there was a table available on the patio. The weather was beautiful, and with summer being so short in Minnesota, we like to take advantage of it whenever we can. Our server came to our table shortly after we were seated, but it was long enough that we both had time to decide what we wanted before she arrived. I ordered the Texas Philly, and my husband had the brisket sandwich. We had to wait a while for our food, which we understood given how busy the restaurant was. Others around us were complaining about the wait, and those tables had a different server who was very apologetic about the kitchen being backed up. The hand-cut fries were piping hot and seasoned perfectly. It's so rare to go out to eat and get hot fries, let alone fries that are piping hot. That alone was worth the wait! My husband loved the brisket sandwich, and the Texas Philly was SO good--piled full of meat. We live in the south metro, but it was well worth the 30+ minute drive to get there. We'll definitely be back and will absolutely recommend J&J's to others!

They all appear polished and professional. I ordered the Oliver Burger, the Shrimp and Cheesy Grits, the Spinach Artichoke Dip, and a Stuffed Nutella Cookie. The server recommended I warm the cookie slightly in the microwave and enjoy it with coffee. The food today: spinach artichoke dip is served with grilled bread.... this was delicious right off the bat when the bread is still hot and slightly crispy. However, after the bread sat in the container steaming, the experience wasn't as good. I would recommend thinner pieces of bread with a bit more char on them (like grill marks) and a couple more pieces of bread. I mean, 4 pieces of bread? C'mon man! An okay appetizer dish. Was it worth $15.99? Absolutely not. Shrimp and Cheesy Grits with creamed greens: shrimp were seasoned beautifully but unfortunately were overcooked and rubbery, and the creamed greens were not cooked nearly long enough, they were fibrous and hard to chew, so I was unable to eat them at all, so a waste altogether. The stars of this dish were the charred lemon (like the bread should have been;) ) and the cheesy grits. The grits were divine and I wish there was more of it on the dish and less of the nasty greens. Seriously, switch those ratios around and it would be better. Next , the Oliver Burger: decent, cooked medium, no notes really. The waitress was right about the cookie, it was very tasty with a little warm up and my coffee .
