The wings here are incredible. I don't know their secret but these are seriously addictive. The server said that they are marinated, then fried. The recipe has been passed down through three owners of the bar. They come with blue cheese and ranch dips. Lots of beers on tap, and great service too. read more

This is such a fun spot! We were headed out of the cities for a cabin weekend and stopped in for lunch. We sat ourselves and were served right away. I got the shrimp basket, a pretty basic but tasty shrimp basket that oddly enough came with some plain toast as most things on the menu do. My friends got a burger and wings. However, when my friend ordered the wings she thought she was ordering the house special/dry rub but they were actually completely plain wings. She said while they were good, they obviously needed seasoning or sauce. So the menu was not completely clear on what she was ordering. Overall a fun spot with a caboose you can sit in! read more

The caboose inside was pretty cool, but of course it was occupied, so we couldn't eat inside. The food was horrible. My potatoes were so cold, they wouldn't melt the butter, and the fish tasted off. I was afraid of getting sick so I sent it back, but they wouldn't take it off my bill. She didn't even come back with a menu, so I could order something else. After paying for food I couldn't eat, I left and ran through a drive through somewhere else. :( read more

First time here. On our camping trip at Baker Park Reserve and didn't want cook on this hot night so we opt for a burger since we didn't grilled any burgers yet. We were greeted in a timely manner and was told that all seating area are open and to seat ourselves. This is definitely a small town dive bar and grill. Our server came to check on us and took our drink requests and then she came back a few minutes later to ask if we wanted any appetizers since we weren't ready and our good came out pretty quick. We had the Thai Peanut and Thai Chicken flat bread which came out like a medium size pizza. It could have been a meal all by itself. The flavor was good and has a little kick at the end but too much peanut sauce that it was overwhelming and too salty. Love the cheese on the flat bread though. We ordered the kid's linguine with marinara sauce for our girls to share and that came with a pre-packaged snack size Oreos cookies and a piece of garlic toast. We also ordered a mushroom Swiss burger to share between my husband and I. The burger was done well and it was good. We upgraded the chips to onion rings. The onion rings were good but it was too crispy that it made it hard to eat without cutting your gum or check. I had to save room for dessert when I saw that they had bread pudding on the menu. The bread pudding could feed a group of four. It was rich with the caramel sauce and I would have like to have a little whip cream. There was little taste of the raspberry in the bread pudding but it was more in the raspberry sauce that was on drizzle on the plate. We did not finish the bread pudding or three flat bread. It was cool that they have seating available in all areas of the train car so you can see the different seat options when it was in motion. In the bar area, there's a couple arcade games and a pull tabs area plus a popcorn cart for free popcorn. They have a dinner buffet set up in the bar area. They also have a patio that looks well groomed. Parking is on street or I think they might have a lot in the back. They have an extensive menu. read more

I like the Choo Choo, great place, excellent service, good bar. I eat here regularly. 5 stars Two food items which need improvement, in my opinion, are ; Rueben and Burgers / 2.5-3 stars. The Burger is a processed patty with little to no flavor, nothing to talk about 2 stars The Rueben ( I love Ruebens and have them alot)was ok but it had WAY to much cheese, like my mozzarella / Swiss melted mix, I ate the corned beef and Croat with a fork and left the cheese plastered to the bread. We can't say enough good things about this place! Seating was easy to grab in the bar on a weekend for dinner & the service was great! The side salad that comes with the specialty entrees is a big portion, so your date will definitely be able to snag a few bites if they're so inclined! The chicken sandwich / royal style is a consistent go-to that won't disappoint. And the Canadian walleye is cooked to perfection - the perfect crisp and juiciness. Not dried out at all! We were not there when it was busy. There was only one server but the service was great and so was the food. I'm not one to hang out in bars and it is 25 miles away but I would stop in again for a meal if I happened to be in the area. I thought the salmon sandwich I had was great. I've never seen that anywhere else before. My wife loved her Sicilian steak sandwich. I'm guessing that any of the sandwiches are good. The sourdough roll they were on was especially good. The wings are marinated in soy sauce. For us they seemed very salty but they seem to be working with most of the customers so if I were you I would give them a try. read more

I am typically not one to write and review places but feel that it is appropriate here. I worked here for 11 yrs as the weekend bartender. The owners are two of the best bosses one could ask for. It shows they care about thier employees when they tear up while saying goodbye as long term staff members move on. The "Choo" as locals call it, has a laid back welcoming atmosphere. I had the privilege to meet so many wonderful people in my time there. You never know who you may run into, there are a mix of blue collar to millionaires who call this thier bar. The reason I stayed so long was the mixture of the owners and patrons which made this place fun! As far as Amy W's review, I will try to play nice and not be "rude" One simply has to read her review on the Sunshine Factory to know she is arrogant. After all, anyone who says "they have sooo much money to spend" really doesn't. My experience has shown they just want attention. I have been called many things but slow and lazy is a new one. Funny thing is I had already retired from bartending when you came in Amy, so nope was not me. Might want to get your facts straight before you rant, makes me wonder how many other things you said were wrong. But if you are lucky I might grace you with my presence some night as I have been asked to fill in from time to time! read more

We used to live nearby and would go often. Local hangout, nice atmosphere. Went there last night with the family. My boy chose it for his birthday because they had fun in the past in the caboose. The caboose had a private party, but they used just one table. We had to sit in the dining room. I got the prime rib special, choose of potato, au gratin. The prime rib was not warm and they charged extra for the au gratin, but didn't mention that when given the option. Beer $8.50 for a big cold mug. The wife got sirloin steak sandwich on grilled garlic baguette, yeh right, it was a hot dog bun. The boys go kids meals of mini corn dogs and chicken strips, fries. Not a bad place at all. Came here over the weekend for some food and libations. Nice patio with a fire pit outside to take away the nip in the air. From the outside, the place looks pretty big, but as you step inside, one realizes it's much smaller. The main reason is they have a Caboose inside. Seriously, an honest to goodness caboose. Quaint seating within and adds a nice touch of nostalgia, as my grandfather was an engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad. The bar is chock full of locals on the weekend, which makes for a lively bunch. The service was great, but then again, we ordered before the rush of swillers. I had the bacon cheeseburger...it was tasty, but nothing special. Pretty good house chips and comes with a handful of dill pickle slices which are God's gift. The lady had the half rack of ribs. Those were pretty good as well. Garlic mashed potatoes were a nice accompaniment. Decent sized tap list, but I stayed with the trusted friend in a Nordeast. The lady is a lightweight and when she ordered the strawberry daiquiri, they might as well have served it in a pitcher. It was a good thing that I was driving. I gave 4 stars only for the chicken wings.. Haven't tried anything else. It's some of the best wings I've ever had. I usually get the buffalo and choo choo flavor. The choo choo flavor is a dry rub and is popular. Service is hit or miss. I've had it where the waitress did her job perfectly. I've had it where the waitress was so busy talking to me that she WASNT doing her job. And I've had it where the waitress did the bare minimum and seemed a little crabby. Been here a handful of times as we are new to the area, and are looking for a nice place to give our business to. Have had pretty good experience until last night when it took over 25 minutes just to get our beverages and the bartender was a COMPLETE JERK to us. We ordered 4 filet mignons, 3 cooked completely wrong and nobody seemed to care. The bartender laughed at us on our way out and we may never be back because of him. Large 1/2 pound hamburgers and good service was our experience. However the cleanliness of the place would discourage us from returning. My wife took a trip to the restroom and she said it was a disaster. Carpets were very dirty and worn-out. If you like dives, this place is for you. Holy Prime Rib This place is always delicious and consistent. Their prices are very fair as well. Last night we had the prime rib and ordered med/rare. Usually I end up with a grey slab of shoe leather anywhere else. This was not the case here. It was a nice pinky red and packed full of juicy tender flavor. The wings are meaty and saucy. I honestly have yet to order anything here and not like it. Be sure to grab a Bloody Mary too. Thank you for being consistent and a good value.
