Poor communication & Indifference…read more OK Heating and Cooling was hired to handle an air conditioning repair at the building I rent from and has shown poor communication throughout the process. Initially, a technician visited on-site to diagnose the issue. He stated a part needed to be ordered, and he would return once it arrived. I understand parts are not always in stock and materials need to be ordered. This was a reasonable outcome. The problem, however, lies with the company's poor communication. I contacted the company's owner, Joe Petrucci, on June 14th, to inquire when the ordered part would arrive. This was days after the technician had visited. Joe stated the part was ordered, because it was not in stock, but he did not provide an estimated delivery date. At this point, it had already been established a part was ordered- the question was: when would the work be completed? I inquired again four additional times in the following days asking when the part was estimated to arrive, and my calls and texts were ignored; this includes calls to the office and Joe's phone. The temperatures are currently in the 90s, and I'm still waiting indefinitely without any clear answer. If you're looking for HVAC repair, I would suggest looking for other companies that value communicating with their customers, practice transparency, and are able to provide basic customer service.

I had to reach out 1.5 weeks later, and never received the email information as promised. The lack of response and the estimate finally coming in at 3X the other quotes, leads me to think they were not interested. Company is a small, owner-run operation which is probably best suited for standard basic boiler/furnace work. Our hydronic radiant floor heat seemed a bit too much for them, as the pricing was more than 3X other quotes, and they were not familiar with alternate heat source options, such as radiant electric boilers.

I compared them with a couple of other places, and they seemed to be the reasonable (not dirt cheap) and could get a furnace in quickly. I had a friend look at it afterward, and they pointed out a number of things they did wrong. Had to call air pride back and they had to send out someone to fix all of the errors. Second. Summer comes, problems with AC. I call my old HVAC guy- says it was an issue with the install/Freon- and should under warranty, rolls his eyes at the job done. Air pride comes out, acts like it was another issue, doesn't mention the freon R. Have to have my other guy come out to fix that. Third. I didn't realize my furnace is no longer under warranty, called air pride bc fan is on, no heat. Guy tells me that the igniter is dirty, he cleaned it, heat back on. Issue comes back- so I call my old faithful HVAC guy. I tell him the scenario- he looks and asks if I paid for that repaid, and can't believe I did. He tells me air pride did nothing. Here are pics of my charred igniter that were supposedly cleaned by air pride. My furnace is no longer under warranty, so I don't have to call them anymore. Ed was there within the hour, told us we needed a new motor and drove into Chicago to pick it up and we were up and running by 5:15! This was at the end of the day on Saturday! We were amazed but always get quick and excellent service from Air Pride and have been for well over 20 years. We always get good tips from Ed about heating, air conditioning, chimneys and hot water heaters. (and new restaurants to try!) We have 2 furnaces and central air conditioning units and Ed has installed and maintained them and calls to remind us in the fall and spring to set an appointment up to check things out. They are the best!

We have used Action Air for approximately the past seven years, and will never use anyone else so…read morelong as Nick stays in the business. We bought a very old, 3-story home in 2017 with 3 separate HVAC systems. The system for the MB suite - installed in a small attic -- never worked, so we hired a "recommended" company to install an entirely new A/C unit for over $4K. But it never worked to cool the room on hot days. After 6 or 7 "warranty" calls that never fixed the problem, and that kept claiming it was just a dirty filter, we threw up our hands, decided to eat our loss, and hire someone else to start over. That's when we called Action Air. Nick (now the owner) was a tech at the time, and he and Patrick determined right away that the installer had installed the coil in the wrong orientation in the wrong size housing, and as a result, the return-side air was going around (i.e. bypassing) the coil and therefore not being cooled before entering the room. Nick and Patrick fabricated a new housing for the coil, installed it correctly, and now it snows in the MB during the summer. Then this week (Tuesday) the main A/C unit for the house stopped working during a stretch of 100-degree days. Nick returned my call right away but said he was booked solid until Thursday, so we called an "emergency" tech to come out. He told us the unit was unrepairable and that we needed an entirely new compressor and heat exchanger and quoted a "range" of $4K to $7K "depending." I related this information to Nick, and he said to hold off so he could check it out. He came at first light next morning and in 30 minutes had the unit fixed and running like new. Turns out it was just a broken switch and a blown fuse, and the repair was $300 instead of $7,000. There is nobody better or more honest in the business than Nick, and his techs (especially Patrick) are great too. Highly, highly recommend.

This ended costing me 670$ for 2 parts (thermostat & blower) & labor. The first time was for the broken thermostat (which was way overpriced) & an hour of time, I was ok with this. They said that they will charge 50% on the second visit. However, somehow they forgot about that, instead they charged for the second "so called broken blower" & for multiple labor hours. BTW, changing the second part did not solve the issue & they mocked around trying to determine how to fix. Adding insult to injury, after all this work, they could not figure out the issue & I will have to hire a new contractor to address the problem.
