The desserts are delicious and I normally buy a cake or a package of mini cupcakes whenever I have a party to go to but I have never been to happy with the customer service there. I find the girls behind the counter to be rude and they are definitely not engaging when being asked questions about the desserts. I have often felt ignored and I find it annoying when they are texting on their phones instead of not paying attention to me. I am sorry to say that I am done and will not shop there anymore as I do not feel I should have to tolerate poor customer service when I am spending money there. read more

All of their cakes and cupcakes are yummy but the blue velvet is to die for! The pastries are always soft fluffy and full of flavor. Most cakes from other bakeries after a day or two get stale and dry but the freshness lasts about 5 - 7 days with cakes from carousel. Whenever I buy a cake from here I always buy 2 cupcakes to go with it. One for the hour drive home and one for when I get home lol. read more

I stopped in here today to pick up samples to bring to a meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to pick a cupcake provider for 2 large upcoming corporate events that my company(a top wireless provider) will be holding. The 1st event is for 400 people and the second is for 1500. My task was to pick up 6 assorted cupcakes from 4 different bakeries and they had to be in individual containers that could be taken to go. I placed my order and the woman said that she had to put them in a 6 pack tray or they would fall and turn over. I told her I would not have time to place them in individual containers myself and needed them packed individually. To my absolute disbelief she threw the cupcakes each packed in an individual plastic shell into a flimsy, supermarket like, thin plastic bag with no structure whatsoever. I asked if they had a flat bottom bag with support she said no. Didn't even offer a box. She was actually VERY rude. Obviously, when I presented the destroyed cupcakes to the panel they were the first ones eliminated. The other 3 bakeries each provided a transport solution. 2 in sturdy flat bottom bags and one was individual plastic containers inside a larger compartmented container. If Carousel Bakery couldn't manage a solution to transport 6 individual cupcakes successfully how could they ever transport 1500. I was very surprised by the unprofessionalism and had expected so much more from this place, it had originally been my top pick. read more

We got a custom cake that, frankly, was not good at all. When I contacted the bakery, they were extremely prompt and helpful in replying. They offered a replacement and/or a full refund immediately. They also wanted the cake returned--if convenient--so they could figure out what went wrong. The service in this case was so good that it's a shame to complain about the cake itself. But in the interest of honesty to other consumers, the white cake, raspberry filling, and vanilla buttercream were all just awful-ridiculously sweet and artificial tasting with an odd texture. But given their extreme interest in satisfying their customers, I would hope this was a one-time problem, perhaps a recipe error. read more

I guess you guys think because Oprah loves your cakes regular people don't matter for those exorbitantly overpriced desserts and ridiculous shipping. The cupcakes are delicious! Especially the Blue Velvet. Unfortunately nothing else there is good enough to make dealing with the employees worth it. Every time I have gone in it has been empty and I have had to wait about 30 minutes for them to go into the back and bring me my frozen cake. I think that is just too much time for something that they just have to grab. read more

The red velvet and chocolate mousse cakes both highly exceeded my expectations from this no-frills bakery. The location is somewhat industrial but that doesn't matter to me-at any "cute" bakery in the city these cakes could easily go for double the price. I will definitiely be checking out the restaurants they supply desserts to so I can keep trying these fabulous cakes! read more

I sent my dad a coconut custard pie for Father's day -- it was something his mom used to make. My parents told me it was probably the BEST pie they'd EVER had, hands down. Lots and lots of coconut, the custard was perfectly creamy, and the crust was amazing. I would not hesitate to buy again. When you order from the Internet, you never know, but this was outstanding. Just had a slice of the Blue Velvet Cake and it was absolutely delicious!!! Very Moist and the Cream was the very best I ever had!!! Only downfall was the $70 Price Tag (Including Shipping). Carousel cakes is the place to go for the best pies/cakes in rockland! They have a great selection to choose from, it's hard to choose one! My personal faves are the Black Forest, tiramisu, and red velvet (it's also Oprah's fave!). You can choose from a 7" or 10" cake. Their staff is sooooo friendly! They close at 5 pm and I was a few minutes past 5 on thanksgiving eve and they still let me choose my cakes! They didn't even rush me and were very friendly. They tried to accommodate my order even though it was closed. (I tried to get a pineapple cheesecake but the fruit toppings weren't available because they were closing). Most places slam the door in your face but the family who owns Carousel cakes welcomed me in and joked around! They're so friendly they even gave me cupcakes! I love cupcakes and am very picky and these were amazing!! Carousel Cakes puts Lauduree and Georgetown Cupcakes to shame!! They should open up tons more locations! This is a def must try!! read more

They have decent quality cakes, the level of which I've had elsewhere, however. Where they fall below grade is customer service. They have a no frills environment, which wouldn't be a turn off, had the person who was helping me not been chewing gum like a cow chewing cud, had bothered to look me in the eye at least once and had not treated me as if I was majorly inconveniencing her. This negative first impression notwithstanding, the quality of the cake I bought was good enough and I was desperate enough because I was pressed for time that I decided to give them another try. I called to ask if they make gluten free cakes, and the person responded in the negative not only unapologetically but in a very nasty, annoyed tone. She acted like I was the 10th person to ask her that question that day, which I may have well been, but her discourtesy cost her a customer. Bottom line for me - the quality of the cakes is not worth the lazy and unprofessional service - and I will not be going there again, as there are a number of very good bakeries in the area. read more
