I have been coming to B&W for decades and have been very happy with their backed goods, especially the crumb cake. Very early this Sunday morning I asked for one Apple turnover and two plain French crullers if they have them. The gentleman said they did have plain French crullers. He repeated my order back to me and said one apple turnover and two Boston creams, I replied back, no one apple turnover and two plain French crullers. He put everything in a box and taped it up. I drove home, opened the box. there was one apple turnover, two Boston cream, and two crullers NOT French crullers! I now understood why the bill was so high. So now I drove back in the car to the bakery to return the wrong order. Once I got back to the bakery, I spoke to the gentleman who filled my order and he proceeded to argue with me that in his defense, he gave me two plain crullers and that they did not have plain French crullers only vanilla or chocolate topped ones. Obviously, since they were both technically Crullers, I was at fault. He had no explanation for the Boston creams. I never ordered. After a brief argument, he gave me my correct order and a refund for the excessive amount of pastries he charged me for. I have ordered French Cruellers for years at this bakery I usually bought chocolate or vanilla coated, but today my wife's asked me to see if they had plain ones, this is the first time I ever received pastries I never asked for. They have a large Bundt cake; the traditional one we all know. There are also a mini size and the in between size which is probably the most popular portion. The bakery was clean and well organized offering not only the cakes but candles, cards, cake toppers and such. The lady working there was also welcoming and courteous. She had a nice way of marketing the bakery. The Bundt cakes were fresh and moist. The cream cheese frosting was the standard for all cakes. Whatever flavor the cake part was, the frosting remained the same. I don't remember if the chocolate had a chocolate cream cheese frosting? My honest opinion of the overall quality: like a gourmet version of boxed cake mix. It was okay, for $6 each it didn't break the bank but I was underwhelmed. My favorite flavors are chocolate chocolate chip, funfetti vanilla, red velvet and carrot cake. They all come with the standard cream cheese frosting and from what I've seen you cannot change the flavor of the frosting but you can remove it if you just want the Bundt by itself. They have assorted sizes to fit your individual or party needs. The service is always quick and pleasant. From what I've seen they always have all flavors available. Cakes are very good, fresh, not dry at all, a good cake. The Oreo Reese's one was very good, so was the double chocolate chip. A bit expensive 14$ for the 2 cakes. In Northern NJ we're fortunate to have a large selection of great bakeries so I was a bit skeptical at first on what this place had to offer. Wow - pleasantly surprised! The bundt cakes...haha (sorry - can't stop laughing when I say the word because all I can think about is the scene from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" ) are really moist and delicious and the cream cheese icing is just sweet enough without being overpowering, IMO. The staff are sweet too - glad to see they were very busy on Xmas Eve and very pleasant! Finally, the bakery was spotless - very clean.
