But tried to charge me $100-200 for a diagnostic even though Audi sent me a letter saying I was eligible for a sensor recall. Take your car to Maxwell auto on dolphin. Same audi techs . Bought a car a little over a year ago. They did say it was a manufacturer buy back due to parts not being available(covid time frame) there was not a list of repairs on the carfax so seemed legit. Multiple times in the shop from electrical issues. My guess is they new and didn't say. They can make repairs and not report them. I figured I'll give them another chance as they had a different vehicle i wanted. They took the lemon car back in on trade. They gave an OK value for it but I wanted it gone. On the other vehicle i purchased they said the tags were paid up until 2027 through the purchase. Then I got a bill from the county treasurer for tag renewal. So I guess they didn't do what they said. I sent the sales person an email asking about it and for them to make it right. Well that was 5 days ago and no call no response to the email. Last i deal with them and would recommend not to deal with them as i fully believe they know more details about the garbage they sell and will not do anything to make it right. Oh and the first car I bought they had in the shop for 2 months before they "fixed" it for the first time. During this time I asked them to take it back and make it right. They offered to give me what I paid but had to take a car i didn't like and that was more money. read more

At both services I've had I received a prompt and friendly beginning with the service manager. I especially appreciate that with both appointments timing was "underpromised and over delivered." The four hour appointment took something over 3 hours. Nice! And like many dealers the cost was estimated before the service so there are no surprises --barring unforeseen needs. I've been waiting to do this review to avoid ranting. Even a year out, my opinion stands. About a year ago, I purchased a vehicle from Carousel. Not only did Carousel have the specific car I wanted {a newer Volvo}, but I also needed something reliable sooner rather than later. I contacted Carousel and got Taylor. He provided pictures of the vehicle, and when I specifically asked him if the car had any known issues before purchasing, he said, "No." That was a lie. Taylor sent carefully curated photos that omitted a small dent. I inquired about it and the known issue with the locks that the previous owner was aware of. I made Taylor aware, and he ghosted me. I called AND sent a text. See image. I imagine he failed to respond because, in Iowa, you only have three days after a used car purchase to return the vehicle. I was beyond the three-day window. TLDR {Too Long Didn't Read}? If you can buy from Carvana, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Minnesota do so. Dealing with Volvo directly and Illinois sellers seem like white-glove service in comparison. I've diverted several people already to other dealerships for a better, honest experience. read more

They gave us a lot of flexibility on a trade in, were very upfront about why they were only able to provide so much allowance, and were more than cordial during the purchasing process. Tyler, the finance guy, was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable, polite, and efficient. My only complaint is that they kind of pushed us through the process too quickly. There really wasn't a moment where they stopped to ask if we were ready to proceed with the purchase that day. Of course, we bought the car and are happy we did so. I contacted the dealership directly as they had an exact car I was looking for. During the process, my salesperson, Ryan, was very friendly and informed me about the car I was interested in. I told him exactly what I had, the mileage, and all the details needed. When asked about the deal, I knew what I wanted and what I was willing to do. We negotiated very briefly and then came to an agreement in principle. I then drove 6.5 hours one WAY to meet them at the dealership in the morning at the agreed-upon time. They looked at my car and agreed that the deal we were discussing and the values were in line. He also informed me about the lemon law and why this care was labeled a lemon in the state of California. It was due to a non-functioning Navigation unit (totally okay with me). I did ask him to email me a copy of that lemon law certificate to my email. We sat in the office for 20 minutes, signed papers, wrote a check, and were on our way. Two days later he checked in on the vehicle, and I informed him that the sunroof wasn't working. We still haven't received the email with the lemon law disclosure they were going to send right away. In regards to the sunroof, haven't heard anything about it, no response, until I got an email to review them. I love the car, and the salesperson was nice and attentive, but the follow-up or lack thereof leaves a sour taste. read more

Purchased a VW Tiguan that was certified used. Car has been in and out of the shop more than any car I've ever owned. First, the front end was not functioning correctly, and they said it was fixed, only to have it get worse. Now the engine is consuming oil at a qt per 3k miles. Carousel says that a qt every 1200 miles is "Normal" and that they won't do anything about it. What good is the warranty if the car is constantly in the shop and unreliable. I'm back with another happy review related to my vehicle. Thanks Iowa City, for doing my Mazda well. I took my Mazda CX-5 in for them to do a check because my engine light came on for the third time in six months (boo). They were able to diagnose and fix the problem AND it was covered under warranty (yay)! Unfortunately, or fortunately for me because I'm not always the best at keeping up with my vehicle, it was time for me to do some routine updates including changing the air filters, adding fluid oil, and other things that happen around 30,000 miles. Craig, sat and explained each line item to me. He was not pushy about me getting the items repaired but simply informed/taught me about each. I didn't agree to extra repairs so I was kindly on my way home. I checked Google to make sure the line items weren't bologna and learned that Craig gave me good information. I realized I could do two of the maintenance items myself but took my vehicle back for the others. Carousel Motors provides a complimentary shuttle "anywhere within town" which apparently includes all the way to the mall in Coralville and up to North Liberty. They'll drop you off at your front door and schedule a time to pick you up again. I really appreciated this and felt grateful I didn't have to spend my time sitting in the shop. HOWEVER, I'd totally sit in their waiting area for a couple hours because it is equipped with tons of snacks (think fruit snacks, granola bars, chips, etc.) and drinks (seven types of coffee, some tea, and hot chocolate) all available FOR FREE! Celebrate. To top everything off, the guys I dealt with at the shop were wonderful-- Craig, Steve, Eric, and Clinton. They even opened the door for me when I was getting into my car, talk about gentlemen! They left a great impression on me. Thank you so much for a lovely experience! read more

I had a less than desirable experience with Carousel and their affiliates. Bought a used car that had essentially been in a wreck (not disclosed). The warranty I was sold didn't cover the damage or the parts and labor. My car ended up at a body shop x1 without my consent or knowledge. It was a mess. In the end I was told to bring it back to Carousel if I had another issue, and that it would be covered in full. We'd agreed on 65% for the original repair (at pre-owned), so I figured they were good for it, took it in for an issue that essentially was a misunderstanding. They charged me $790. I get that was at 50% and I'm grateful for that as well as the original 65, but I've fully put $1200 extra into a vehicle I've just bought (in addition to my first payment). I don't know that just anyone could do that. I probably could have fought harder but it was handled so sloppily I just wanted out of it by the end. No advocacy for the client and no good faith. I STRONGLY recommend going elsewhere. You wanna trust who's working for ya. read more

Worst service dept. I have ever had to deal with! I waited 2 weeks for my appointment, only to be called the day before and informed that they would not have anyone to work on my car. The next time they can get me in is in 3 weeks!! REALLY?? 3 more weeks?? No explanation given. I asked for the service manager to call me back, but he would not. Evidently no one wants to take ownership. For a dealership that sells the cars they do, I certainly expect more.....a LOT more!! They say that service sells cars. NOT HERE! I will not be buying a car from this dealership again. For one thing they said they would put a new air conditioner in my car when I bought it but all they did was put some ac stuff in it cause it went out in 2 weeks. Then the waterpump went out. Then the turbo went out after that that they said they would pay half for but of course never did. I will be making sure my friends don't buy one from here either or anyone who asks about the car dealership. I'm very passed off. read more

My experience at Carousel Motors this past summer was truly disappointing, and I have no faith at all in their service department. I should've read the old reviews before I took my car there, because it was a huge mistake. I went to Carousel Motors in 6/2019 because my 2011 Volkswagen Jetta was having a recurrent issue- whenever the car slowed down, the engine oil light would turn on briefly, and then turn off again. The car was perfectly fine otherwise. I had had this same car checked about 3 months prior to that (for the same issue) at a different dealership, who told me everything was fine. A few hours after I left Carousel, an employee named Tyler contacted me, and told me that my car's engine was failing, and I had to get a new engine. I was dumbfounded, because I had been told before by a different dealership several months ago that everything was fine, and my car had been running perfectly without giving me any issues, so of course I was shocked to hear that my engine was failing. Tyler told me I could either pay $8000 to replace the failing engine or sell it to himself "as is" for $1000. I don't even know why he wanted to buy my car if my engine was "failing"per his words. Since the car was still running perfectly, I said no, and brought the car home. I used the car for another month (it continued to run perfectly) and then moved to a different city where I didn't need a car anymore, and decided to sell my car. I went to Carmax to get an appraisal (of course, I told them about the engine oil light issue up front), and I found out to my great surprise, that Carousel Motors had registered my car as a "lemon vehicle", making it virtually worthless. I had no idea that Carousel Motors had done this. Carmax told me they would not be able to sell the car to anyone because of its status as a lemon vehicle, but offered to pay $1500 (which was still $500 more than what Carousel had offered me) for the car so they could sell off the parts. I am not sure what happened, and maybe my engine WAS truly failing despite it being not that old, only having 40000 miles and in otherwise perfect condition, who knows. But Carousel still should have informed me that they were going to register my car as a lemon vehicle. They did this after I refused their offer to buy my car for 1/10 its market value, so that I wouldn't be able to sell the car elsewhere even if I got the issue fixed. read more

The salesman Ken admitted to erring in entering my information at when I purchased a NEW Ram truck from Carousel motors Coon Rapids Ram. Once Carousel motors Coon Rapids Ram received my money they have failed over 10 times and months of trying to either correct or even acknowledge the issue exists. Ram has failed to correct also. Ram still 5 months later shows me as a NON-Owner of the vehicle I purchased. Carousel motors refuses to respond or assist the salesman who admitted he made a mistake at time of purchase to correct the information. read more

I called at 9 o'clock in the morning when they opened and had an appointment at 3:30 to test drive a used vehicle. I arrived at 3:30 to test drive the vehicle and the salesman informed me that somebody else is out test driving it now and they bought it!! I live 45 minutes away so this cost me an hour and a half of driving for an appointment that I had! Very very poor Communication on their part!
