I've bought three cars from Carousel. The first, I felt like I paid too much. My wife wrecked it 6 months later. She really liked the car, so we decided to go back. They knocked $2k off the price and with the factory incentives, we got a brand new car for the price of the check from the Insurance company. The third, we got during cash for clunkers. They again knocked $2k off the price of the car immediately when I walked through the door (3 three cars in 18 months). The only reason I don't rate them higher is that the guy I dealt with has since left (Brian). He was super knowledgeable, and would take the time to answer my (and my wife's) questions without a lot of pushing. I worked with Taylor who facetimed me from the showroom, started the car, and showed me every aspect of the car. There was one nick which he pointed out even though I couldn't see it through the phone. We agreed on a price, he had the car transported to my house 1,200 miles away. I was very nervous. I don't know why all of the reviews thus far are so negative, maybe Carousel has done some improving over the last few years, but I can tell you my experience here has definitely exceeded my expectations. I am in the middle of medical school, so when my old beater finally broke down on me, I had some serious anxiety about taking on the debt of financing and the stress of monthly payments on top of my school debt. I went to look at a car and happened to end up working with Matt DeBerg. I later bought that same car, a 2009 Nissan Murano, which I absolutely love. I really felt good about my experience here because Matt was very honest with me, and did not talk down to me, though I'm the first to admit I'm not great with cars and this was my first financing purchase. He worked with me to get me the car I needed, something I felt safe in and something my family could grow into, for a price that I could afford on my budget. But anyone can talk the talk and play nice for a few hours. The real magic is that I've now owned the car for 4 months, and they have stood behind their product. I had some concerns with the tires and wasn't able to make it in before my warranty expired. I chatted with Matt before taking it into them to get my oil changed, and he worked some magic so everything was fixed and Carousel covered it all for me. If you are looking for a new vehicle, I would recommend this place, especially if you work with Matt. Worthless dealer, we tried to test drive a car but were told if we didn't agree to buy it prior to test driving we wouldn't be allowed to do so. I asked to speak with a manager who promptly came out and gave us the same speech. Right after that I spent the same amount of money on a like car from a different dealer out of state. Now the time comes to spend 60+ thousand dollars on two Nissan's and I will not even go there to talk to them so this one problem has cost them over 100k from me and probably another 1 - 2 million from the 100+ people I have told in the last 2 years. Let the buyer be ware they are a bunch of conceited sales people with no interest in selling the cars they have on the lot. read more

It has been 3 weeks after i took delivery of my vehicle and she was to order an extra key fob and she Never ordered it.. I've tried calling and left messages and not one response back. I had planned on getting another vehicle in about a month for my wife but now im going somewhere else. I was really hoping this would be a better dealership and not the typical one of not taking care of the customer after the sale. So buyer beware. Plus the finance manager, Chad I believe, was not a people person and kind of a prick to put it nicely. When I took delivery of the vehicle I was told it was cleaned and detailed. It may have been vacuumed that's it. There was this sticky stuff still on the steering wheel from when I test drove it. There was still dirt on the shifter that never got cleaned either. I purposely looked at a couple places prior to it "getting detailed" just to see how good of a job they were going to do. The last big thing for me was not even a full tank of gas it was between empty and a quarter tank. read more

SCAM.. "Carousel Motors" aka another entity within same vested party, own Budget Car Rental of Iowa City located at 325 Stevens Drive, Iowa City, Ia. Purposely they do NOT disclose this relationship nor inform consumers when you get warranty work performed on your vehicle at Carousel Motors and they recommend you rent from BUDGET their own entity. Based on my experience, they put your car in a holding period, racking up your rental fees and charging more than the contract states while receiving the benefit of the service work and car rental with no disclosure and a complete conflict of interest. In my experience, I would NEVER recommend either Budget or Carousel Motors. STAY AWAY from all aspects of their business, based on my experience. Super Unhappy Customer at all levels! read more

Our experience was quite pleasant. My husband had located the car on the internet. We walked in and requested a test drive. We both drove the car quite awhile. We were a little disappointed with our trade-in value so they increased it a little since it had brand new tires, brakes, etc. They detailed the car while we waited. They ordered a new bracket for the front license plate then delivered it and installed it at our home. They provided a new optional Mercedes emblem in case we decide we want to install it. Never in my life have I experienced the privilege of being treated like an insubordinate as much as at this dealership. Being female, I am used to coming to a dealership and having a little hassle. Not the case here. I was treated like I was poor, talked down to, and talked out of buying a vehicle and instead of leasing. Might I add, this person had no financial information about me and little did he know, due to the rude awakening from him, I am VERY WEALTHY!! I wouldn't buy a cracker from this place if I were starving on the streets. They wouldn't even let me test drive a car unless I was for sure buying it! How on earth do you get someone to buy a car?! And just because I would like good gas mileage, fully loaded, and under 40,000 miles for a used vehicle to help save money while I travel for work does NOT mean I am being picky and talking way over my budget. Buyers give you a budget way under what their real budget is and you are supposed to work with them in finding a vehicle suitable and see where we can push the limits. Females should be able to go and buy a vehicle on their own.
