i ordered sea scallops. i got bay scallops. they were very tough. the kitchen knew what they were sending out you cant mistake sea for bay they're much smaller. and they knew it was overcooked - you can could see it. the restaurant responded to my email telling them about it and all they basically had to say was 'we're sorry, next time send it back.' i was kind of put off by the fact that they did not own up to the fact their kitchen sent out crap and the wrong crap! i can see why this happens after all the mgmt didn't seem to be concerned in their email. i think this place is mediocre, plan to be disappointed unless you don't mind eating dreck. read more

I'm a little confused by the rest of these reviews. Decided to try this place on a whim on a Friday night. It was pretty dead and the decor was weird but I saw in the other reviews that the food was good so I was hopeful. The service we got was great, our waitress was very nice and everyone was attentive. However the food was very bad. Ordered penne vodka and chicken parmigiana which isn't fanciest Italian food but it's also really not something that is usually messed up. The chicken was rubbery and it reminded me of pre packaged Tyson chicken you get from the supermarket. The penne vodka was very buttery and tasted strange. I feel bad writing this review because the service was so nice but I would stay away from this place if you're looking for good Italian food. read more

Just don't....Was here for a corporate event. No decent Italian restaurant serves bread cold...not even room temperature but cold to the touch. The sauce was thin and tasteless. The pasta was overcooked to the point of mushy. The chicken parm was also tasteless. The dessert was from Costco...how do I know this, they brought them out in the Costco containers and cut them in front of us. I happened to have a wonderful experience here. Started off with an excellent dipping oil with warm bread. Had the Eggplant Rollatini appetizer, which was very good. Tortellini soup also hit the spot. Chicken Parm for my main meal was delicious and a decent size portion. Service was decent and I found the prices to be reasonable. Very good Italian food presented very well. Resonable prices and very nice wine selection. The restaurant is clean, ambient and the wait staff is sharp and well versed in the menu, wines and the specials they offer. Its been a few years since we have been to this restaurant, maybe 8 years. Decided to go on Saturday March 22nd. It was a place we used to frequent for 15 years. We were so disappointed. They hostess is a very young girl who I would say is not someone in charge in case of complaints. There did not seem to be a manager around. Apparently we had a fairly new waitress, Chris, who was very confused and not attentive. We ordered the fried calamari which was just OK. I ordered the veal dish and my husband steak. When the waitress brought our meals, I looked at my dish and said this looks different. I took my dirty fork and knife and picked through it and found it was fish not veal. Had to wait 5 minutes to get my waitress back. I hope they did not give this meal to the right person since I dug into it with dirty utensils. She quickly brought me out my right dish. Apparently she grabbed the wrong one. Never came back to ask how things were. Both the steak and veal were so chewy we could not at it. My husband asked for a medium rare steal got well done. When we complained to the waitress she said oh want to order something else we said no. Then she said want a drink on the house, again we said no. We hardly touched our meal. Then we were asked wanna take it home. Are you kidding can't eat it. Never brought over anyone in authority to rectify this. Did not take meals off the bill. We paid $81.17 for 2 meals not eaten. Asked for Jake the owner to come out. He refused who is the owner. Now I understand why the prices are low there, quality is was down. Never thought I would ever write a bad review on this place. Every table had oil and balsamic on the table not ours, wasn't given a choice of dressing on our salad. Ordered from the wine list. Didn't have either one of our choices. Ok let's start this off on a high note, most of the food is delicious, this review will mainly point out the negative rather than positive, so take it lightly. The service is mediocre at best and is very, VERY SLOW. There was not a lot of people for the popularity of the restaurant so I am assuming that the service is always this bad. The bread took a half hour to get here even AFTER my friend had requested it. I found a hair on my bread plate and the butter is not great. The second batch of bread was burnt. The Coke had a cherry hint even though we requested the regular soda. The food didn't come for over 2 and a half hours. There were only 4 options for food and only 2 for lactose intolerant people like me. The biggest problem with this restaurant was the quality of the service, it was the slowest I've ever had, and probably ever will. This restaurant has its ups and downs, but I'm not rushing to come back here because of the slow service (and I'm sure they're not rushing either). The waiters talked and strolled along the restaurant as if the customers were non-existent. This is the main point the restaurant should focus on. In the entrance there were also matches which could be a potential fire hazard and danger hazard for the customers and the restaurant itself. This is a constructive criticism so if the restaurant sees this, take it lightly, but these are the points I think you should improve on. As I had said before, most of the food was great, they just need new and better waiters. I overall had an okay experience but I am not sure if I will come here again. If I could I would rate it a 2.5 stars. If it's not very crowded and you are in the area, please consider the restaurant, it is very good food. read more

I ate there last Saturday and the food was HORRIBLE! I was very very disappointed because I had expectations that it would be good italian cuisine. I ordered the blackened Red Snapper it it tasted so bad, I actually had flashbacks of how bad it was. I took it home hoping that maybe it would taste better the next day and it didn't. What really sealed the deal was that there were scales on the fish. Yes, scales as I was eating! UUGGHHH............my husband was also disappointed with his Chicken Parm. My wife and I have dined at Carpaccio's regularly for years. We enjoy the restaurant very much. We find the service terrific, the staff helpful and pleasant in all respects. The food is excellent. Carpaccio's is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a diverse menu. The specials are particularly interesting, because of the innovative recipes. As happens in other restaurants, when the place is crowded, the service suffers, but Carpaccio's is crowded for a reason. We think that it is one of the finest restaurants in central New Jersey. read more

My husband and I went to this restaurant for Valentine's day. The food was good and the ambiance very nice. The service was not very good. It took a while for the hostess to seat us as she and another employee were engaged in some business discussion when we walked in. The waitress however was a bit condescending. I can't remember her name but she was an older thin tall woman with short hair. When she asked me how I would like my meat cooked I replied that I would like it pink in the middle. She said does that mean medium, medium well or medium rare. I replied that in my experience those classifications meant different things at different restaurants and therefore I would just like to leave it as pink in the middle. She said that she couldn't turn the order in that way and required that I choose one. I tried to tell her to choice the one that in her estimation would return a pink middle, but to no effect. I finally agreed to medium well and it came back to red. I choose not to say anything because I was already irritated and didn't want to ruin my valentines day. As I am on a diet I was very hungry and asked politely if she could bring my soup out as soon as she could. She told me "I always bring it out as soon as its put on the shelf" and she said it with an attitude. Every time she came to our table she put both her hands on the top and leaned heavily on it hovering over us. I noticed she did so with the other tables as well. We felt like it was a control tactic. Stay away!!! For the past two times I have gone to their restaurant the staff has been rude and uncooperative. The first time we went there in the Summer, we were waiting for a couple to come to our table who were a little late. We liked our seats where we were and we were already got our drinks when our old full of attitude blonde bitchy waitress wanted us to move so they can fit more people where we were and take our seats while moving us next to a very loud air conditioning unit in the back of the restaurant. I told her we are not going to move and besides we are already eating and had our drinks and part of our party is late. The second time was tonight, Christmas Eve. We had reservations and we were coming late because we were leaving church. When we got there, our family was there sitting and I was shocked how they arranged this table for 8 people near the fireplace we are at. Two of the seats, one was mine, were blocking the isle for any server/bus boy to come through easily. There was another way they could have gone to avoid hitting the back of my chair by the window, but they didn't want to go the long way around. So bang, bang, bang! There was a little less than 1 foot of space to squeeze through and I didn't want hot food to accidentally be dropped on me or my 5 year old daughter. The table of 6 behind me was empty with most of the other tables and I said can't you guys move one of the tables behind me to over there to make that four table a six table. The waitress said, we are busy tonight and there are other reservations we can't. That spoiled the night for me because we had to move awkwardly and I could not sit next to my wife for Chistmas Eve and started a fight at the table. I mentioned it again to the staff 15 minutes later when we got our food and the tables behind us were all still empty. Meanwhile, the whole hour we were there, no one was filling that table behind me or the other table along the wall they could have moved that damn table too. WE WERE THERE FIRST AND WE HAD A RESERVATION BOTH TIMES. Some way to treat your guests when you treat them like cattle! I called and talked to the manager hours later of my experience and she wanted to send me a gift certificate, meanwhile she admits over the phone they do this time to time on how busy they are. read more
