Came to El Forno Legna and had such a great experience. The rigatoni bolognese was perfectly balanced--bold flavor, smooth texture, and that cream tomato sauce was seriously exquisite. One of those dishes you don't want to end. The margherita pizza was just as impressive. The fresh tomatoes were so fragrant and flavorful, it added a whole other level to the pie. We also tried the Tommy Boy, which was --the creamy pesto, breaded chicken, and subtle red pepper kick worked beautifully together. Me and my wife went here to meet up with a coworker of mine. My coworker was nice enough to treat dinner for us that night. She recommended eating here. When we walked in, we were seated right away. All the staff was very friendly and very professional. It was very clean inside too, and I could tell they take good care of it. Our food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious and made fresh. Our chicken was cooked just right and had the perfect amount of crisp to the breading. ________________________________________ I never leave negative reviews, but my experience with Il Forno Legna in Dunellen, NJ was so unacceptable that I feel obligated to warn others. I ordered catering for 50 people for my daughter's party and left a $367 deposit. Delivery was scheduled for 5:00 PM. I confirmed the order the morning of the event and was assured it would arrive on time. By 5:30 PM, there was no food. When I called, I was told it was "on the way." From 6:00-7:00 PM, I made repeated calls while my guests waited. When the food finally began to arrive, the order was incomplete and incorrect. I received only a portion hours later another try came 30 mins later and I paid for 2 full trays and initially received only one and a half trays of part of the order. Four trays were completely missing. After repeatedly calling, one additional tray eventually arrived. One tray was nearly burnt beyond recognition. The portions were not full, and even the man delivering the food acknowledged it was wrong and took pictures. Throughout the ordeal, I was met with belligerent and unprofessional responses such as: * "I thought we had a 2 hour window from 5pm (after re-confirming earlier in the day they would be there at 5pm" * "We are new owners, what do you expect us to do?" * "What do you want, uncooked food?" * "The meatballs had to cook." * "The salmon had to cook." At one point, I was told the owner was delivering the order. Later I discovered the driver was actually the manager. I was also given the impression that people on the phone were pretending to be owners. I was repeatedly told the owner would call me -- it is now days later and I have received no communication. Instead of being present and enjoying my daughter's party, I spent two hours arguing on the phone trying to get food for my guests. The event was completely disrupted. When I went in the following Monday, the manager admitted the service was "horrific" and that other problems occurred that night. However, there was no sincere attempt to rectify the situation. They mentioned charging only for part of the order, despite the fact that I had already paid more than half via deposit for food I did not receive. When I asked to speak to the actual owners, they pointed to a wall instead of contacting anyone. The conversation ended with him pointing to his Tesla in the parking lot and saying he was "just trying to make payments." This was not just poor service -- it was a complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic business ethics. I would strongly caution anyone in considering using Il Forno Legna for catering, especially for an important event. My daughter's party was overshadowed by stress and embarrassment due to their failures. This place is pathetic. Extremely disappointing experience. read more

Service: We made reservations for 10 people including 2 young adults one with a wheelchair and one that has to walk very slowly while accompanied. It was easy to get them in and out (though there isn't a ramp) the waiter even helped us and provided 3 long tables for the whole group. 2. Food: As always GREAT- I was not crazy about the meatballs on this location but my family enjoyed them. My husband and I just moved to Dunellen and figured we'd get takeout from a local restaurant - this lovely place caught my eye the other day when we passed it because it looked so clean and upscale! The food was ready about 20 min after placing the order and packaged very nicely. We got the arugula pizza, chicken wings, and Caesar salad with chicken. All were excellent! Wings were nice and juicy, pizza crust was perfectly crunchy and chewy, and all ingredients used are very fresh. This little spot is located right in Dunellen and it's definitely a must try. they only have a few tables, so keep that in mind if you decide to come here, but they do a lot of takeout orders and we have been to the other location located in rahway, which is much bigger but the food is just the same .service was great waitress was very attentive. Our servers name was Irma, super friendly and a pleasure to have serving us . They have a very nice selection of salads, pastas, and some pretty amazing pizza since it was only me and my husband, we decided to go with a Vodka pie and a Burrata salad, which were delicious . You can prove everything only first walk in the seating person was very rude and once we were seated, no one came over to give us menus for about 10 minutes and then once we ordered online, it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. Since my first review of this restaurant, I have returned several times and the food and ambiance continue to be great, but the Service is outstanding. Food comes out quickly and properly prepared. I have tried most of their dishes and have been very satisfied everytime, in some cases I have taken food home, because I could not finish all that is served I like to take a bottle of wine to enjoy with my meal, on arrival we are greeted with wine glasses and an ice bucket, they will open and pour the wine for us.
