I hired Carpet One Ocala to install a luxury vinyl plank floor. Within six months the floor failed. The manufacturer sent an inspector, who concluded the issue was due to installation. Despite that finding, Carpet One was able to get the manufacturer to cover a replacement. Unfortunately, the second installation also failed within months, and again the inspectors--both the manufacturer's and the independent inspector I paid for--found the same thing: no expansion gaps and installation not consistent with manufacturer guidelines. Every inspector who came out told us the same two causes: (1) improper subfloor preparation and (2) improper installation. None of the inspectors found problems with our maintenance. The only note was the use of rolling chairs. Carpet One later claimed they had instructed us to use chair mats, but we have an email from them stating that with the correct caster wheels (which we bought and installed), chair mats were not required. When the second floor started failing, the owner told us that "installers always get blamed," even though every written report we have--multiple inspectors, including one we hired ourselves--states that expansion gaps were not installed per Karndean's specifications. One inspector even told us he contacted Karndean directly, and they confirmed that our cleaning and maintenance methods would not cause the type of damage occurring. At this point, calls have gone unanswered, we have not been provided the installation insurance information we requested, and we were essentially told to sue if we wanted the issue resolved. The cost of litigation would rival the cost of the floor, so it's simply not practical. What disappoints me most is that the "Carpet One Love Your Floor Guarantee" was not honored in our case, despite multiple independent findings showing installation errors. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. read more

I wanted to post a follow-up to my earlier review. When the installers were finished with my job, I asked them to take an extra box of flooring back to the store so that I could get a refund on overage that I didn't need. (I already had more than half a box leftover.) The salesman said in an email that I would get my box back, and a refund on the horribly unprofessional baseboard job. Of course, that was appreciated, but those guys cracked and ruined my original baseboard, so it all needed to be replaced. I hadn't heard from them for weeks, so I stopped into the store. I was met by the owner, who tried to tell me that what I wrote in my first review was all lies. My main complaint is how much noise my floor makes when it's walked on. He told me that his trusted employees said there was no noise problem, so I pulled out my phone and showed him a video that I took, complete with the noise. They told me that my box of flooring has "gone missing". Their employees took it and who knows where it is now. Then Gary, the owner, tried to coerce me into taking down my my review in exchange for coming to look at the floor himself. So, in a nutshell, please avoid the headache of dealing with this unscrupulous company. They really only care about taking your money and not ensuring that you are satisfied.​​ read more

They sold us carpet which was totally unsuitable for the application, a fact supported by two independent companies who reviewed the condition after one year. Carpet One refused to come out and look at the carpet, accused us of not caring for the carpet, and offered no compromise solution to what was obviously a mistake on their part. The owner was just rude. For less than $500 we fixed the problem with a different company. Stay away from these people...they talk a good game but do not stand behind their product and installation. Carpet One just finished doing a tub to shower conversion. They did an awesome job. We had an issue with one of the water lines; Dan the work crew manager and the crew foreman Jose stayed with us the entire evening until 11:30 pm to find a plumber to repair the line. We truly appreciate the attention this company and crew took to make us a fantastic shower. I would recommend Carpet One hands down to anyone looking to do this type of conversion. They lied! They installed fault carpet padding. Feels like I'm walking on rocks! They told me they would replace it for free because they pulled the carpet up and found the faults in the padding. Then when I tried to schedule the replacement THEY DENIED ME! They say the manufacturer said the padding issues are "normal". Excuse me? My advice is to absolutely use another business in Ocala. It has the poorest customer service that I have ever dealt with. I have never heard the general manager give so many excuses for the problems that I had. She never once said I'm sorry and what can we do do help help you solve things. I have been self employed for over 40 years. I always took very good care of my clients if there was a problem and there were very few I might add. That is part of owning a business and understanding that these are the people that are paying your bills. I respected their wishes. Never take a client for granted! I informed them that there was no tile under my vanity and I was going to replace the vanity and part would be open under it so I needed to replace the entire floor. First thing was they ordered the tile and only part came in. Days later the rest finally came in however I had to be the one to call to see if it was there. The next thing was installing it. They came to install and they ran out of tile. He stated that they weren't planning on putting in under the vanity. That was the entire reason that I was replacing the floor in the first place which I stated to them over and over. They proceeded to take up the old tile. My ENTIRE house was covered in a chalky substance. My AC unit filter totally stopped up. All my furniture and walls were covered including my wood floors. When I complained to Diane/Manager she said OH, it's in the contract that it would be dusty. DUSTY, my entire house was a total disaster. The tile installer said he would have someone come over to clean, NOT the store manager. She never offered. Someone came over the next day and just smeared the dust around. I have now cleaned my wood floors and I still have to do them again. I even had to wash the comforter and linens on my bed. I had to wipe all the walls down in my house. My air purifier in my bedroom was totally stopped up. Not to mention how much of this got down my throat. My floor is still not finished. I am waiting for more tiles to show up. It has been a total nightmare. If you want professionals to work with, this would not be a good choice! read more

DO NOT GO TO CARPET ONE VILLAGES/OCALA. My nightmare started on the second home I built/remodeled using them as my flooring sub. Both jobs were not small...each between $20,000-$25,000. To start, they basically refused to provide timely estimates. I had my eye on very expensive $10/sf tile that was discontinued. They confirmed they could order the amount I needed, but by the time they actually got around to getting me the estimate and ordering it, it was gone. This was after me bugging them trying to get them to place my order. I was ready for flooring in late September. I had everything picked out by mid-August. They did not order the floor, even after me constantly begging them, till mid-November. Because I run everything through my dad, who is a Builder, we have an accounting department that takes two weeks to process invoices for all the subs. Even after countless times of me explaining this, Carpet One still couldn't understand the concept. They would provide me with an estimate and then demand payment. Who demands payment off an estimate without even giving an invoice? Carpet One even wanted me to sign estimates that were incorrect. When I refused to sign until it was changed, they said I was the reason everything was held up. When they finally got around to doing the work at our personal home, they went through our garage and used OUR tools and materials. They also never showed up when we were expecting them, and took much longer than what they said. I have high-end LVP running through the entire house, and because they did not prep the slab correctly, there are soft spots EVERYWHERE. The tile was installed incorrectly without the pattern we had designed. They did re-do, thankfully. Carpet One also had to go back 3 times to fix the kitchen backsplash. It was so wavy and unacceptable that one of our employees had to show the installer how to do it. They cut the tiles with a grinder, making a mess of the entire backsplash. They also blamed the waviness of the tile on our cabinets being unlevel. The cabinets are set with a laser, and somehow magically our employee was able to make the backsplash correct. But wait, there's more. I needed more plank floor for the first home I built using Carpet One. For two months they told me they had ordered the floor, and "it should be here any day now". After having enough smoke blown up my pant-leg, I finally had to go to a different Carpet One in Apopka where they ordered the floor and provided me with the product within 5 days. Lastly, I have warranty issues with grout on both homes that need to be addressed. I have brought this to their attention multiple times via calls, emails, and texts since a week before Christmas. They needed to adjust my final bill from a mistake on their part. I waited 3 weeks for the final invoice. The owner's wife sent it to me on a late Friday afternoon, and demanded my payment the next Monday. In what world is that actually legitimate? They told me "Finish paying us in full and we will do whatever you want." Well I didn't just fall off the turnip truck last week. I paid 75% of the bill that I owed them, saying that I would have the check in-hand at the job site when they came to fix the grout.The tech finally shows up, and his boss argues with me about giving the tech the check before he starts the work. I figured out pretty quick he just wanted the check and was going to drive off as fast as he could without doing the work. The techs left without our knowledge and without their check. Gary and Robert also blamed me for them not doing the warranty work saying that I haven't been consistent about paying them. Sorry, but you can't turn in an invoice at 3pm expecting me to beat down your door with a check before 5pm on the same day. After bringing a lot of these issues to their attention multiple times over the last several months, I finally received a call from the owner, Gary. Instead of apologizing, he doubled down on his employees' mistakes by insisting that I was the reason for the work being done incorrectly and he basically threatened me. read more

I admit this FINALE is lengthy but I hope if you care about your investment and you have pride in your home you will read the whole thing and heed the warning. Karol from Carpet One called on June 1st and told me that IVC wanted some more pictures of the den flooring and she asked me to take some more pictures of the whole den and the bad spots and send them to her at admin@ocalacarpetone.com. We took five more pictures and I sent them to her along with an e-mail that said "We worked with Chan and the owner when we replaced the carpet in our whole home about twelve years ago and that worked great. We worked with him again when we replaced the carpet on the lanai and he suggested marine carpet for out there and that worked great. We worked with him again when we replaced the laminate flooring with this vinyl flooring and that is when the problems started. After the first bubble appeared they came out and put a slit in the flooring and it went away for a short time but came back and now there are two bubbles as well as the peeling off of the top layer so I hope this will get taken care of now." Karol sent me a reply that said "Mr. Richter, Thank you for the pictures. We will be attaching them to the claim we have already filed with IVC/Mohawk and request a report. I am also attaching copies of your original signed contract for your review. Please be aware of the fact that your warranty from Carpet One Floor & Home expired 1 year after purchase which would have been November 2015, see documentation which you also have copies of which states that a manufactured home or rental property only has a one-year labor/installation warranty. Also, please see attached the warranty and care information from IVC. This information is readily available through their website. Carpet One has no liability for the labor or the product as you have stated. As a courtesy, we have filed a claim with IVC and the final decision on the product will come from IVC the manufacturer, who will be forwarding you a response letter. Thank you, Karol." As we assumed, we don't think they are going to do anything. I love her wording - they are filing this with IVC as a courtesy to us because they only have a one-year warranty on labor and installation and yet IVC told me that the claim has to come from the installer because their product has a 25-year warranty - so apparently these two companies really don't care about anyone. On June 6th Carpet One posted the above response to my review of them that said "Response from the owner" so I called the owner at Carpet One and Rachael said that Mr Gilbert isn't in right now but she left him a message to call me back later. Of course he didn't call me back but Karol did and she left us a message that she got my message and she told us that they have the claim sent in to IVC and they will let us know what happens when they get back to them but it could take a couple weeks. We really don't expect anything from them but we will wait and see what they say and plan on doing about this. On June 11th I got the following e-mail from Karol "Claim Letter. Mr. Richter, We have received the final report on the claim we filed with IVC US. I have attached a copy of the letter for your review. If you have any questions, please give us a call or you can call IVC directly at the number listed on the letter and reference claim number 1296712. Regards, Karol." The final report from IVC stated "this claim is denied at this time as caster damage is not a warranted issue." This is really strange seeing as how they brought the samples to our home and we sat in the den and picked out the flooring we wanted and we were in the den with our desks. We also paid extra for the installation because they had to send some strong individuals to move the desks and other furniture before removing the laminate flooring and then replace these items after installing the vinyl flooring so it was common knowledge where and how this would be used. I understand that us individuals don't stand a chance against large corporations and obviously we lost $1,400 on this mistake but if one person reads this and doesn't get cheated by them, it will help heal the wounds a little - so please beware of dealing with these two companies. read more

Carpet One in The Villages was a most disappointing experience. The sales guy, Chris was very nice and tried to help. But the people they hired to install my new flooring were sloppy, careless and unprofessional. They gouged my walls and tried to "fix" it with paint that did not match and a terrible drywall repair job. They also broke the large glass top on my bedroom dresser. Everywhere I look there is wall damage where they carelessly moved my furniture. There is still a loose transition strip that was improperly glued, and no one from the store has responded to my complaints. I now have to repaint the entire house! Nothing but a great experience from Carpet One! My wife, Cheryl, and I came in and were greeted promptly and kindly by the staff. Rachel walked up and was friendly and knowledgeable about the products and really seemed to care about what my wife wanted. We really appreciated the fact she was not pushy or overbearing but offered great suggestions and we understood what we were looking for. Rachel also introduced us to the owner, Gary, who was really welcoming and it was nice to hear about the story of their CO-OP and we were really happy they offered 0% financing which we took full advantage of. I was really impressed with their free measurement service, other companies wanted to charge me $35-50! Ryan brought the samples to our home, was really polite and prompt with our appointment and answered further questions we had. We were able to place our order with him in the house, even though he offered to have Rachel do so for us back at the store. We received a call a little less than two weeks later from Diana who was another polite member of the staff and we scheduled the install for the following week and they were able to work around our busy schedule of Dr. appointments! The install went perfectly, the guys showed up mid morning, knocked everything out in two days and it looks awesome! Rachel and Dianna both followed up with Cheryl and I to ask how things went and we're so happy with the quality of the work and the staff we can't wait to go back in for a few new area rugs! Carpet One really knocked it out of the part on this one and we could not be more pleased with our experience! read more
