Exec. Summary: I found Carpet Outlet of Texas (COT) to be the best value in terms of price, selection, and service for carpeting in the Dallas area. COT installed carpeting in our home last week. I had shopped around for about a month before selecting COT. COT has a very large selection in their showroom. Prior to COT I went to Home Depot and Lowes. COT has at least 3x as many choices. Also COT uses the standard mill names for the carpeting so it's possible to compare prices with other vendors. Home Depot and Lowes does not, making it difficult to comparison shop (similar to the mattress industry). After finding the carpet I liked, I investigated prices if I was to order the carpet online and ship it to my home. The price for the carpet was almost the same. COT broke down pricing for carpet, upgrade in padding, and installation, so it made it easier to compare. So for the carpet, I wanted COT was offering a decent price. Padding upgrade and installation was also reasonable. COT did a good job in measuring the area. Carpet comes in a 12 foot roll and when ordering from the mill, you specify the length. I believe they measured and charged for 99 ft. and they ordered 100 ft. (a little extra) from the mill. After installation, we had about 12ft x 2ft left over, so only about 2% waste (not counting the cutoffs which is probably another 2-3%). Really pretty good. Their installers were friendly, thorough, and professional. They did an excellent job. There were a couple item during the installation which they overlooked (one location where the carpet hadn't quite made it under the baseboard for a couple inches and a little remnant spot of glue from joining the carpet), but when I pointed it out they took care of it immediately. If you want good carpeting for your home, you will get good selection and service at a reasonable price from COT. You may be able to find cheaper carpet and cheaper installation somewhere else (COT also has cheap carpet but they try to point you away from it telling you why it's cheaper). This may be what you want if you are flipping a home. I wasn't; I plan to live in my home for a long while. Last thing I wanted was to save a few hundred (maybe a thousand) dollars, get bad carpet, and poor installation. COT didn't disappoint. Granted it's only been a week since installation so I don't have wear information but I'm quite content right now. I have waited to write this review as I wanted to see how this new flooring held up. We checked out several carpet stores and decided on Core Tech Luxury Vinyl. Not only were Tina and Brenda at Carpet Outlets extremely informed about the product but they were so patient with my decision making and calling. I know I went back to the store several times going between hardwood floors and the new product. We were very pleased with our final pricing and felt that it was very competitive and the best price available. The great service did not end there. The installers that came to our house were so efficient, so caring and so diligent about completing the work and getting my house put back together in a timely manner. They even left my home cleaner than when they came. We have had other installers come to our home and certainly not received the same caliber of treatment. The people at Carpet Outlets of Texas really seemed to care and appreciate our business. It has now been six months since we had the flooring installed. Not only do I highly recommend Carpet Outlets of Texas but I also, without reservation, recommend the Luxury Vinyl flooring by Core Tech. It is 100% water proof and most people who come to my house have no clue that it is not hardwood flooring. It is beautiful and so easy to take care of. We love it! Recently we had an flooding event involving a broken pipe which necessitated us replacing some carpet padding which had deteriorated when exposed to water. Although the carpet itself dried nicely, the padding was ruined. It turns out purchasing a small amount of carpet padding is not quite as easy as it sounds. The purchase of a "roll" is easy as they are available in many places, but a piece 5'x14' is not. Long story short. In desperation a blind request was posted via Yelp to several folks who sell carpet/flooring in this area. The responses were pretty much the same as we had already encountered - they would sell us a roll. The responsiveness of the businesses was prompt, but didn't resolve the issue. Then, Carpet Outlets of Texas, Inc. responded. They graciously stated they would sell us less than a roll and my wife promptly drove over to the showroom/warehouse and picked it up. The people she dealt with could not have been nicer, they sold us exactly what we needed and even loaded it for her. This is customer service as it should be! I have been researching where is the best place to buy carpet, what would be the best kind for our needs, which includes foster dogs with occasional accidents. I found Carpet Outlets of Texas online on Angies List and from a different site that recommended COT. I filled out the information on their website and received a phone call within the hour. From that point on, it was the easiest process that Ive ever been through on such a big home improvement purchase. They knew what would be best for our house and dogs, and didnt even try to sell me the most expensive carpet. Wow! Bruce came out to measure and give an estimate, showing up at the time he said he would. He is very professional but also personable and was done in a timely manner. Such a great price, and I was expecting it to be a lot more. The installation guys couldnt have done a better job. The were so careful moving the furniture onto the wood floors, and I didnt even have to ask them, they just did it. The carpet looked wonderful and they cleaned up perfectly. I am just now writing this review although I had my carpet, hardwood, and vinyl all installed back over a year ago. (I kept saying I wanted to write a good review for Carpet Outlets of Texas but kept putting it off due to my busy work schedule.) I have also sent several of my friends to buy flooring from them and they are all amazed at the excellent quality of products, service and prices. We worked with Marty and he is excellent! He is so helpful and never pushy at all. He even had some area rugs cut for me from our older carpet and they all look amazing at a great price. I doubt if there is a better hardwood flooring store in Dallas. I used this company because it was recommended by National Wood Flooring Assn. I dealt directly with Bruce, Tina and Brenda. Each of these individuals were knowlegable, professional and personable. The team leader was Gustafus, who, along with his team, did a terrific job in the installation of my floors. Carpet Outlets was recommended to me by a friend who had used them before. They were one of three bids I received and were significantly lower than the other two. I gave them the job, but two days before the installation was scheduled we decided to add two rooms. Bruce came out and the same day, measured and gave me a good price on the additional rooms as well. Two days later his installers showed up, did the installation which included moving furniture in and out of the rooms, and finished up in about six hours. We purchased new vinyl plank flooring from Carpet Outlets of Texas, and they just completed our installation this past week. From purchasing our new flooring at a very fair price to scheduling our job to completion, we are highly pleased! I was looking ro replace the carpet in my entire house before putting it on the market to sell. I reviewed many different companies and this one had the best reviews. I made an appointment and went to visit. Brenda (customer service) went through the details and Bruce (owner) showed up the next day to take measurements. On the 3rd day, their crew (Elai and one more person) removed the old carpet and replaced it with the new one within a little over 6 hours. Amazing customer service! They installed our floors in November 2019. Great prices and selection. Our floors still look new. We recently noticed a few minor areas where the wood splintered. We also had one board pop up (maybe because our home was 40 degrees for a few days during the Texas power outages/1 degree weather). Called Brenda from Carpet Outlets - she is very helpful /friendly. This was a very positive experience. Tina assisted me when I came in on a Saturday and I thought she was great. Exactly what I was needing - friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the type of rugs to steer me towards. They have great pricing too.
