We walked in looking for an outdoor rug for our garage. Chris immediately steered us the right direction. He had the color and style that we wanted. Chris was very helpful and personable, you don't see that at a lot of places these days. It had to be special cut, I asked for it same day if time permits. Chris stated he would do his best, within less than an hour the call came in and we went back to pick up the perfect size and quality rug. All in all, a great experience. I would never recommend carpet smart. We purchased flooring and carpeting from them. The installer came out and we agreed on a day. I did not have a calendar in front of me but we agreed on a Thursday. The installer showed up a day earlier (there was no prior text or phone call to confirm from installer). He was waving his appointment book in my face saying he had someone else scheduled on Thursday. He insisted I was wrong. I still had painting to do before job could be done. I had people coming in that Wednesday so due to rescheduling he was charging via confirmation from carpet smart for his workers salary which amounted to a lot of money. Since I already gave them half the money down I was at their mercy. On rescheduled day they showed up almost two hours late. They did a terrible job. We went with Outlet Carpet and Floors who we can't find here on Yelp to leave five stars for. Carpet Smart wanted us to put down a huge NON-refundable deposit before they would send someone out to measure. They wanted half of their "best" guess. NO. After receiving a positive referral, we decided to pop into the shop for our basement job. We worked with Chris in the shop. He helped us pick out an LVT for our basement flooring. Very friendly guy. I will say that their prices ARE very competitive. We did shop around quite a bit, received several estimates & even went to lumber liquidators. Naturally it took a few weeks to get the LVT material in, a bit delayed with Covid. Once the material did arrive we scheduled the install right away. It took a couple days to install our basement flooring, approximately 1200 SF. We were very happy with the communication throughout the process and the install. They make you pay a huge deposit before they will give you a written quote. Of course when the quote comes it is much higher and a longer time frame than verbally quoted. I asked for a refund as this was none of what I was expecting based on what they originally told me. They said they were keeping $100 (I assume I am paying for the opportunity to be lied to/ taken advantage of) and it has now been three weeks and I have not received the refund. Extra carpet put in garage and overnite carpet fell and scratched my car. Installer never called me back after I kept calling store several times. It's been over 2.5 weeks and no phone call. We purchased laminate flooring and carpet from Carpet Smart based on our previous positive experience with them. Our current experience in April 2022 was not the same. While their products are good quality and a reasonable price, their customer service is horrible, particularly John the manager. We have been trying for weeks to get a transition piece glued back down after it lifted it and he keeps blowing us off. Today marks the fifth time we have called and spoken to him and he continues to say "if you don't hear from someone call me back." He has horrible customer service skills: gruff, rude, and cut you off in mid-sentence. I do not recommend going to this store simply because their customer service is so horrible. read more

What a shame. Unlike other reviewers, our experience in store picking out the carpet, making the decision, and setting the appointments for installation all went AMAZING. When they were initially installed, I vaccuumed one room while they were finishing up the others (to pick up all the loose carpet fibers from cutting, etc ) and I told the tech that it was lifting up in the corner from my vaccuum suction. He was like "oh, weird" and re-connected it. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER RIGHT THEN! Ugh. I'm still kicking myself for not realizing there was a problem and complaining right away. However... fast forward three years. Our relatively new carpets are bunching up in MULTIPLE places due to the incredibly poor installation. When I called to complain, they said they can't do anything after one year, but they could send a tech out to re-stretch the carpets at our own cost. Why on EARTH would I want the same terrible technician who installed them badly in the first place to come out again at MY cost???? By far the worst experience I have ever had shopping anywhere, ever. I went into the store 2 Saturday's ago and looked at some flooring for my kitchen remodel. I wanted something that would complement the hardwood in the other areas thorough my home. I was scolded and told that "the floors shouldn't match in two different rooms" so I asked for samples of some flooring I did like . They don't give samples. OK, I took pictures and took the photos home to look at the photos against my room. I searched the internet for ideas for a week and by all accounts I should be looking to find something that "flows" with the rest of my home which is what I wanted in the first place. I returned the following Saturday (one week later) to find something that would flow in my home. I pulled something exactly like what I have elsewhere, layed it down and began putting other flooring next to it to see what would look nice. I was yelled at "You are forgetting what I told you last week!... You don't need to match the floors in two different rooms - the metal strip that divides the rooms would take care of that problem!" I indicated I wasn't installing an old fashioned metal strip but before I could explain what I wanted for a transition piece He screamed: "I have been doing this for 44 years and I know what's right!" I responded, with: "I get yelled at every time I'm in here, Im not sure why I returned. And what was "in" 44 years ago is not what is "in" in this day and age." He yelled some more about how I don't know what I'm talking about and stomped away. On my way out, I said "you lost a sale" His response......."I don't want to sell to someone like you anyway!" I was scolded numerous times, talked down to, belittled, and yelled at so loud that the other salesman in the establishment had to tell his customer "let's wait until he's done yelling to speak". This kind of "service" is inexcusable! There are so many other places to buy flooring. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this one! read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The installation was a nightmare. They were 4 days late to measure, then measured incorrectly. We were never told there was an additional $60 charge for each radiator and that we were responsible for removing all doors and moldings. The install tech didn't bring proper supplies with him and had to leave during install to go to Home Depot to buy supplies. Then he didn't have the threshold strips and tried to convince me that it was the "new look" to not have them. Another trip to Home Depot. After the install, we noticed he didn't even run the carpet underneath and behind the radiators that we paid extra for. In addition, the carpet tacks used were too long and could be felt when walking on the carpet with bare feet. This was four years ago and I'll never do business with them again. read more

The salesman led us to believe the carpet we wanted was in stock and could be installed quickly. However, the installers kept changing the date of installation on us and we found out there was never any carpet in stock. We had to reach out to them to find if they were still coming. When we finally got them here, They arrived much later than they told us. it took them 2 days to do a landing, staircase, and living room. The first day, they forgot tools and were here about 6 hours and the next day, they were here about 10 hours!! For 3 areas!! Then they never finished installing the transition strips!! One strip they did in the living room is falling off already and the corners are cutting through socks. It turns out it was installed backwards. Unreal! We called carpet smart to have them finished bc the installation crew didn't know when they could get back to do it. Carpetsmart then had us call another installer and tell him to finish it. We shouldn't have to tell someone else to finish the job!! They demanded payment before the job was finished, which is probably why they never returned. Meaning the quote is wrong , when we called the salesman , he called it " a bait and switch " , a what ! They wanted more money bottom line , we said forget it . 5 years ago I purchased carpeting for my whole first level and family room and it was beautiful. The installers worked quickly, but I assumed they knew what they were doing. About 6 months ago I noticed the carpet in the family room was bunched up and lifted right in the middle of the room, but was not very noticeable. 6 months later and ALL the carpets have lifted and bunched up and along the edges of the rooms there are actual air pockets that whoosh when you walk on them. When I phoned to see what could be done, I was told the warranty was long over (2 yrs. only) and carpeting did this quite often (funny, at 70 I've had a LOT of carpeting installed and NEVER had this problem). Then I was given the phone number of a carpet guy who would come out to give me an estimate for stretching my carpet! I suggest if you're looking for reliable quality carpeting you avoid Carpet Smart. I only wish I had done so. read more

The most unprofessional business I've ever encountered. We were told one price, install and tax included. That was supposed to be final because we made them aware of a competitors price. We gave a down payment. The guy who came and measured used the tape measure crooked and practically side ways across the floors. When I asked "shouldn't the tape measure be a little straighter?" He says "I've been doing this 15 years" so after that then the price goes up $300.00. When we called to question the increase, the sales rep Chris was rude, says "I'm not making any money on this so" and dismissively says "perfect, we'll refund your money right now" what a waste of time. my wood floors were damaged with large tool gouges after carpet smart installed a carpet. i sent a letter and photos after being told "there were no managers to handle any complaints and that there is no way they caused the issue" .then a very rude and hostile office manager called and repeated the same thing to me. be careful, carpet smart does not have any customer service after they do an installation. read more
