Went here for a Thursday HH. The place was definitely popular but not too crowded. The music was also at a reasonable volume that you can carry a decent conversation. Pretty large selection of over 30+ beers to choose from, but no girly drinks or frozen drinks. :) Service was attentive, and our server checked up on us a few times that night. Plenty of things to do here, but the pictures on the site are better than seeing it in person. (Better lighting, and it looked more new on the site.) There are two shuffleboard tables and a pool table. Parking is a bit tough. There is more parking in the back, but it's a tight fit, and the area looks sketchy at night. The food is okay. Crab dip was good but thin. The bread was nicely toasted and buttery. Wings teriyaki style was good. Don't know the name, but there is a dish with steak, salsa, beans, jalapeno, and tortilla chips that was my favorite. The bruschetta looking dish was sad. The tomatoes were not fresh and had the texture of canned diced tomatoes. They had soaked into the bread toasts which made them soggy, so I wonder if they had been sitting on the bread toasts for awhile before they were served. The food overall made my stomach feel queasy a couple hours afterwards. Security is quick. There are multiple entrances, and as soon as I entered one, they showed up to check my ID. read more

Pretty neat concept. The bar itself was dark and dingy. There were fruit flies swarming around our beers. They have a reasonable selection on craft drafts. The service was good and bartender friendly. The food was pretty good for pub fair and the prices are reasonable for food. The beers are average priced for the area, really nothing under $6, until happy hour, but good luck finding a seat. I look forward to the nice weather to be on their huge patio. read more

There happy hours are really nice. Since they dont start at 4 which is great since most people work tell 6 or later. They have a great selection of beer as well as there cajen fries. They have good standard bar food too. The wait staff have always been helpfull and quick even though they are sometimes under a heavy load. Carpool in Herndon is AMAZING! I use to go to town center often then I found carpool which is just across Elden street. It's easier to get to and you can forget about having to park at the top of some parking garage and schlepping yourself half way across Reston to get to where you're going. Also, I don't know of another local bar that has as many beers on tap as they do. If you're in to games.... they've got them too. Pool, darts, shuffle board and more. Great beer list, lots of your typical bar entertainment options (pool/darts/cornhole). The burger I had was pretty good too.

Been here a few time. Service is hit or miss. Food is decent and they have a decent albeit expensive beer selection. The main reason for my two star review is our experience tonight. We sat down at a table outside and waited about 10mins but we're not greeted or offered a menu. Finally my wife went to the bar and asked for menus. After another 15 mins of no service, I got up and found a server and asked if we could get a server to come to our table. He said: "yeah we are kind of busy, you can just order from the bar" to which I replied "we have to order food from the bar as well?" He said "yeah, we will bring it out when it's ready". Keep in mind that they had a waitstaff, at least 3 waiters and I saw other people get service. Problem was the waiters were playing with there phones or just walking around aimlessly. Excellent beer selection here! The food is alright - pretty standard bar fare, nothing very good or very bad, but the buffalo burger with sweet potato fries is definitely my recommendation. Of course if you're like me, the food isn't what brings you into this place anyway. You're here for drinks, and you're here for some entertainment. There's a jukebox system available (cash only!), as well as several pool tables and a shuffleboard table that I like to make use of. Giant Connect 4 and Giant Jenga are also in clear sight, so really this is a good venue for a casual night with friends or coworkers all around. Service here is terrible. We sat for 15 minutes before getting menus then we had to wait longer got the bartender to take our order. The food is good and hh has good deals for beer. They only have 2 wines and 1 shot on hh, though. It took us 20 minutes to get refills and there were 3 open tables and 1/3 of the bar was empty. Bad service, good food. read more

I have been a frequent patron of Carpool Herndon for over 8 years. One of the things I like most about this bar is that they remember people...at least they remember me. I've moved out of state three times and come back after a quite a long period of time and I've always been asked where I've been. 3 female bartenders and 1 male bartender, and the GM are all very stellar when it comes to customer service. In the 6 years I've been going here, I've had ONE complaint which was immediately fixed. I've not had an issue since. The food is great considering we are talking about a bar and not fine dining. I HIGHLY recommend the meatball sub which is absolutely phenomenal. The beer selection is ridiculous. Although I stick to my regular beverage of choice, whenever I've brought friends in from out of town to Carpool, they have all been floored by the beer selection. The atmosphere is excellent. I've had my birthday party at Carpool every year for the last 6 years. It's my home away from home. It is and always will be the best bar experience I've ever had. It's not too crowded and not empty...it's always perfect. And people actually move out of your way when you say "excuse me". Great crowd, atmosphere, food, beer, and staff!! read more

I and 6 of my friends were here to watch the Redskins game on a sunday night. There were no waitress to attend us, All of us had to walk up to the bar to get our own drinks. And the Bartenders were busy chatting and had no regard for us, And the most surprising part was that they charged us 30% gratuity after poor service. Picked up a Groupon for the Carpool in Herndon and was very happy... every time I drove past this place I wondered how they stayed open because it ALWAYS looked empty. I could not have been more wrong.... inside that tiny storefront was a very large bar with a great crowd.... pool tables, shuffleboard, darts and even skeeball. I thought they would not be very welcoming as we were using a groupon but again, I could not have been more wrong, Rama, the manager took extra special care of us... when we did not use the entire value of the groupon he suggested we play pool for a while... we had dinner (great nachos and a reuban hotdog), drinks (great beers!) and played pool for about 49 bucks. We have been back since and Rama is still a very good barkeep. We were very happy there even though we were not part of the thirty-something crowd and will be back again and again... read more

If you are looking for a nice place to chill - have some great beer, good bar-food selection and very relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to head to. Some of the other reviews have said "it's not Reston Town Center" ... Well thank God for that! Ample parking, a huge outdoor patio, great staff, awesome beer selection (41 taps) and none of the Town Center 'atttude' make this a great destination when you're looking to head out with friends. Ample TVs (inside and out on the patio) make it a great sports viewing venue and for College or NFL football, NCAA basketball, Hockey, you name it .... They always have a good crowd for the games. Along with the ample beer selection, they offer nice mix of bar-food and some more health friendly options, have generally found they have something for all but the pickiest of consumers. If you are looking for a chill destination in the area, you'll be hard pressed to beat Carpool. read more

Our friend recommended this bar to us. So, on a Friday night we got dolled up and headed over to Carpool, we got there around 9:00 pm and the place was already packed. I have to be honest, the crowd here was younger than I expected. The bartenders here were amazing! Very attentive, didn't have to wait for my beers, he just remembered who I was, all I had to do was walk up, he would look at me and without a word get my Millers. Amazing. Also, the bottled beers here are ICE COLD. So cold I had to wrap my bottle with a napkin to be able to hold it (go ahead, judge me). They have a few pool tables, darts, and some other games you can pay for and play for unlimited time. The only downfall was the music here was so loud I could barely hear the person 2 inches away from me, I literally had to get up all close and personal to anyone I wanted to hear, but whateves. Carpool is my favorite bar ever!!! Staff is awesome and friendly, the food is delicious, and the environment is fun. There's a lot of young people compared to the bars in Reston Town Center. There are occasional company happy hours and it does get busy some days. They have games to play (cornhole, giant connect 4, basketball, shuffleboard, skeeball, pool tables, darts, bear pong, etc) and variety of beer. They have happy hour specials until 8pm and appetizers are half off. They have a bunch of TVs which is great for watching sports. The only downside is that parking is limited on busy days and if you park by the hotel or in the shopping center, you'll get towed. Other than that, I love this place. read more

I hadn't been to Car Pool in several years and was looking forward to going to happy hour once again there. The current happy hour prices are ridiculous. I can't believe they even call this a happy hour. Your choice for happy hour? Bud and Miller Lite at 3.75 and Shock Top for 5.50. Thats it. Nothing else even a buck off. I mean who drinks Miller and Bud Lite anymore? Thats all you can discount for happy hour? I guess i will go back to the Reston Town Center once again. Went to see the UFC fight in February. Boyfriend forgot his ID at the hotel so we had to leave and come back so the guy checkin ID's was legit. There were pool tables, some other game tables and tvs everywhere. We made our way to a table across from the bar to the right before the smoking room and luckily found two unoccupied barstools. The waitress who, in her defense was insanely busy since the bar was obviously understaffed, was to the point. Hi, menu, drink? Food? Ok be back... Waited about 10 min for our drinks and another 10 for the crab dip and wings. Both were decent. Not out of this world but not terrible for bar food. Saw the waitress passing here and here but never got to order another drink and the bar backs cleared our plates. We ended up having to push through the crowd to the bar for another drink where lo and behold, our waitress just hanging out behind the bar chatting it up with, I'm assuming some regulars and a bar tender. Outside was cool. Heaters and more tvs for those who wanted to smoke or didn't want to be so crowded inside. Might come back on a night it won't be so terribly busy to see how it is playing pool. read more

I have heard a lot of good things about the bar but I guess the service was having a bad day when I went. Very slow and fairly rude. They have a wide selection of beers and the drinks were good. My girlfriend loves the shuffle board with his friends during happy hour. I will let them play and catch up with them later from now on. read more
