I have been coming here to United Auto parts for about 30 plus years. They always have the parts you need and are reasonably priced , great quality and have never let me down with finding what I need. Also their counter folks know their stuff and you do not have to explain to them what you need. They get it. Recently I had some brake parts I could not use because I had to get the complete brakes done at a shop being on a timeline. I asked if I could refund my new parts that I purchased and it was no problem. The receipt was several months old! Walking into United Auto Parts feels like an authentic step back in automobile time! I have a newer car so I wasn't sure it was the place for me but I was quickly reassured by their counterman that they have everything current for all model vehicles and if they didn't have it in store, offered to order it for me and would have it by the next day! The shelves are all extremely organized and the staff have some what of a family feel going on. Probably due to the mom and pop thing they push which I'm always happy to support rather than places like auto zone which are basically Walmarts and running Michigan into the ground as I type this. I'm pretty big on customer service especially when it comes to auto parts because they can end up costing a pretty penny. That being said I like to know exactly what I'm getting and wouldn't mind someone kindly dumbing it down for me, while not making me feel dumb haha. There's quite a few places around town that do what United Auto Parts does, but UAP does it better! I've had trouble with my brakes for a while, and so I've had to purchase rotors quite a bit, or at least get them turned. The rotors for my car would've cost $30 a piece from Murray's. They cost $10 at UAP! I've not once walked into UAP and walked out without what I was looking for. The size of the place is misleading; they have a TON of stock (it looks like more than half the building is the stock room - always a good sign!) and the guys are... helpful beyond belief. I'm used to Autozone and Murray's type places with young people staring into computer screens to get their info. At UAP I once purchased a seal kit for my upper intake. Without going to a computer, the guy helping us started talking about the VIN for the vehicle and how there's three different types of gaskets for certain VIN numbers, because the design of the intakes changed slightly. I was simply blown away that he REMEMBERED that and wasn't told by a computer! One thing that's a big indicator is that whenever I go to UAP, I'm shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanics; if professionals who repair cars go to United Auto, then it's definitely the place I'll be going! read more

This place is nothing but con-artists. Was quoted a price to install new bushings in my control arms of $80. $20 per bushing. So I dropped them off thinking nothing of anything but to wait and pick them up. So I called several times to see if they were ready and they told me a job was ahead of me. Next day same thing, a job was ahead of me. Finally someone tells me the reason they took so long was because the bushings had to be torched out. Ok I get it. No one said anything to me about a additional cost or anything, just the reason why it took so long. So finally they call me and said the bushings were in and it's ready to pick up. My total is $140!!!!!! So I ask what's going on I was told $20 a bushing, and they told me, well that was if you bought to parts from us. When no one ever asked me if the bushings in question were from them to begin with, or that if I didn't buy the bushings from them it would now be $30 a bushing and on top of that there was a $20 fee added for torching them out. No one ever asked me if the bushings were there's or mine. I simply asked how much to press the bushings in. The workers looked at them took them and said nothing about it. I clearly brought my own bushings when I dropped it off and was not told then that there was a added charge. And as a rule of practice in business, aren't you supposed to call and inform the customer of any additional charges or even ask if they still wanted it done because the price was going to be nearly double ? That is horrible business. Hope you enjoy ripping off more customers. It's called communication. There's no way I would have paid $140 to have a couple bushings pressed in. $80 was a lot when Hastings only charged $14 a bushing, and I went with your company to save me time not pay double, I didn't mind the extra $20 if it would have been done on time, but you took two days, the whole reason I didn't have Hastings do it. I could have got a press from harbor freight and did it my self for $140..... Ridiculous scammers On top of that when I complained about the price they asked me if I wanted them to press the bushings back out lmao. I should have. United Auto Parts has everything you could want and more. It's a great place to find as the usual stuff but also the things you can't find anywhere else. theyare so knowledgeable and helpful. This business has been in this neighborhood forever and for a good reason. They are better than any Murrays, Autozone etc. because of their expertise and prices. Plus it's a family business, you can trust them. They also have a shop down the street, Louie's, that does repairs. I'd highly recommend them too. United has some drip pans for only $15.00 that are unbelievable. They don't break no matter what you do to them. read more

Superb auto part facility. Extremely knowledgable staff that operates in an efficient and friendly manor. The general atmosphere of United Auto Parts is that of a specialty shop in that they WILL get your job completed. I am troubled to compare Untied's knowledge base versus their personal experience because of the massive amount of both. The excellent counter men are very helpful and willing to educate, because when I walked in I was very lost. I flashed a bolt to a clerk and he told me everything there is to know about it. Being in business since '42 not only indicates greatness but ensures honesty and the preferred end result. From whole sale to walk in, i highly recommend this store! read more
