We went back yesterday and wanted to buy a few more bottles and with some samplings bought some new ones. They all tasted great. We stopped by Carrera Wine Cellar while walking around downtown area. Glad we did. The whole staff is friendly and accommodating. We had a couple wine flights and a couple light fruity ales. The highlight and main reason why we will be back again and again is for the fresh pretzel charcuterie board with their in house made beer cheese. This was such a great little stop before dinner. This is a great little wine bar in St. Augustine! We were eating downtown so we parked in the garage and had a short walk over here before dinner. We must have come at the right time because they were doing a tour of the building which is I believe well over 100 years old. They have little rooms with all sorts of different wines ranging in flavor and price. They did a tasting after the tour which was really nice and we got to try some great wine. After we ordered our favorites we got a charcuterie board filled with some really delicious options. We ordered the meat plate and then the 3 cheese option. We got the smoked Gouda, aged cheddar, and manchego and the plate came with some salami, prosciutto and other meats. I'm really glad we found this place and I can't wait to come back! read more

A converted bike and surf shop, they gave it a rustic feel with lots of small rooms where you can hang out with friends and have a glass or share a bottle. The inventory of wine is impressive. Tastings are reasonable and pours seem to be pretty generous...but that might be because we were nice. They offer featured flights or make your own flight. They do a bi-weekly painting class called Brushes for Lushes. $35. Plus of course some wine. This looks fun. And then there was the service. The owner, family and a friend were working the night we were here. Just nice people. They have some bottled craft beers and simple but tasty cheese plates. I went to theFlying Goat Cellars Special Tasting there today and was very impressed how a small and cozy wine place made a big impression on me. The wine tasting was fun and educational. The place winds around into tiny rooms, yet each room was buzzing with energy. In one area, there was a crowd engaging in wine tasting. Music and live entertainment was next to it. As I went up the stairs, I noticed some people were lounging in a small room or sitting at tables drinking wine. A large table was full of ladies drinking wine and doing art in the center as servers were busy behind a bar. At the end of the building were the bathroom and a peaceful outdoor area. We found this place by accident after having dinner down the street and we're very glad we did. We were greeted by a very nice and knowledgeable bartender who showed us around and explained the concept to us. The place is divided up between reds and whites...Italian and french. .high emd and bargain and has an excellent tasting area. You can buy flights..pours in 3 different sizes as well as bottles We sat at the small bar and ordered 2 different malbecs along with 2 different cabs and pinots. They were served at perfect temps and the pricing was very fair. It's a very cute place too..it looks like a porch complete with rocking chairs. .only all inside. I love this place because of how multipurpose it is. Want a glass of wine after work? Go relax in the rocking chairs and listen to live music. Want to learn how to taste wine properly? Go to one of their classes. Want to drink while you do something fun? Sign up for one of their events, like wine glass painting or ornament creating. Want to just grab a bottle of wine for a dinner party? They have a large, varied stock for all price ranges and taste preferences. Last night a couple friends and I went and split a bottle of wine purchased from their store, sitting in the chairs and listening to live acoustic guitar. I was also able to pick up a nice bottle of pinot noir for a dinner I have this evening. The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable if you have questions, but there's also super handy food-pairing / wine education posters around the shop if you're too shy to ask for help. When my friend and I came in a couple of months ago, we absolutely loved the set up of Carrera Wine Cellar. They have different rooms for their different wines (i.e., the Spanish wine room, a white wine room, their reserve wine room, etc.). They offer an impressive selection of bottles, including all of my Napa favorites, and their reserve wine selection is on point (Opus One, Insignia, etc.). They have a tasting bar in the front of their space when you first walk in and their menus are placed on tiny clip boards that offer a selection of whites, reds, roses, and bubbles by the glass, as well as their two sangria offerings and an assortment of beers and soft drinks for the non-wine drinkers. They also have some small plates (meats, cheeses, pretzels, etc.) you can nosh on while enjoying your beverages. I must say the selection of wine by the glass was disappointing the last time I visited which is why I marked them as a 4 out of 5, but they also have the machines located in the back of their shop where you can purchase a card and try some of their high end wines (this past trip boasted two high-end bottles of the Krupp Brothers). The staff is very pleasant and they also host weekly wine classes on Thursdays as well as do wine glass painting classes. Definitely a place you should check out if you're in St. Augustine for a little wine-ing and dining! read more

We found this establishment on Yelp and it was a 6 minute walk from the shopping areas, we arrived on a Thursday around 12:30 and we were greeted with a smile and menus. The 2 wonderful ladies explain the wine flight, cheese and meat board, and answered all our questions. We even got a quick tour of the house and were allowed to sit out back in the sun! The white and red sangrias are amazing and the white taste like hunny! The meat and cheese board was tasty and filled both of us up. We had 4 sangrias and 5 cheeses with 3 meats and coast about $70 after tip. We would defiantly come back! And bring friends! read more

This is such an amazing team of individuals here. I took my mother on a surprise weekend getaway to St Augustine, as it's her favorite city to escape on a weekend. We stayed right outside of the historic area in a doubletree hotel - on our walk toward the historic city center, we stumbled across this incredible wine cellar. Inside of this establishment is a family preserved home that was converted into this wine exchange. The inside of the venue is an original porch from the original home, and has been restored to its natural beauty. There are free wine tastings, wines by the glass, machine samples that you're able to control the amount of wine you'd like to consume, and bottles for purchase. The outside of the venue (back porch) is so cozy and a great way to catch up with friends and have a intimate evening out! My mother and I enjoyed the staff's recommendations and conversations. We even received complimentary samples and a cheese platter (we went literally everyday!) They remembered us each day and greeted us with smiles.
