AVOID! SCAMMERS! Mechanics do not know how to fix cars. Scammed my elderly mom who is on limited income out of $623 and kept charging for parts and still never fixed problem. The car had not even left the parking lot and it was making the same noice it had when dropped off. We took her car to Toyota and they fixed the problem and were surprised this mechanic didn't see the power steering bar was broken. They told my mom this could have been very dangerous and the wheel could have fallen off. Informed them and they were very rude! read more

Moved from Boston to Apollo Beach a year ago and still getting the lay of the land on the good, the so-so and the bad. Our Acura MDX needed new AC compressor system... stealership quoted us $3,400 like they were doing us a favor. Brought it into Carriage and replaced everything for almost 1/3 of the dealer cost. It took going through several auto repair shops that screwed me over before I found Carriage Auto. I've been happy with their service even if they are a little higher. Until now. Dropped my car off between 8:00-9:00 this past Wednesday as requested for 2 repairs, one covered under an extended warranty. I understand it taking awhile to get approval for the warranty repair but they could've ordered the other part & repaired it while waiting on approval. Thursday afternoon Ryan called to let me know the warranty claim had been submitted & he was waiting on an adjuster to call him back regarding approval. Why did he wait until Thursday to file the claim when my appointment was early Wednesday morning? Friday morning I called to confirm they received approval & if my car would be ready by days end. I was told they were waiting for the other part to be delivered, they would "slap it on" when it arrives stating it should be ready before 5:00. Why did they wait 2+ days to order the other part? Five o'clock rolled around Friday, no call. Unfortunately my wife's 2022 equinox broke down Saturday so we're down to our spare van our daughter uses. Hopefully I will get my car Monday. That's 4 days for two repairs. If you can't tell I'm extremely unhappy with their apparent lack of concern getting my car repaired in a prompt manner. I will be letting the shop manager know this is unacceptable & I may not be back. I also plan on asking for some form of refund. I believe a refund or credit should be provided having to wait 4 days for my car. Once I pick up my car I'll post an update of what took place. UPDATE I called Carriage Monday 9/22/25 around &:30am to see if my car would be ready by days end. Person that answers said my car was ready. Guess they finished it the Friday prior but no one called me. I said I would be in shortly to pay them ($488 & change) & pick it up. The gentleman said "they haven't been paid yet by the 3rd party warranty company yet. They were told payment would arrive between 8:00-9:00am today." Until they get paid I couldn't get my car. I told him no, I'll pay you for my end & then I'm taking my car since payment was forthcoming from the warrant company. He said no. That's when my temper kicked in. I told him if they refuse to release my car I'll call the sheriff's office to send a deputy to get my car. The person asked if that was a threat & I said you bet it is. He then said "then it is a threat(!) telling me to come get my car, and I did. I can't tell you how many thousands I've spent there in all 3 of our cars reps since finding them. It's unfortunate they decided to treat a loyal customer this way. In the past they were prompt, did excellent work, always kept me posted of projected repair costs but they dropped the ball in this one. Never again will I use Carriage Auto. Guess it's time to start looking for a reliable mechanic again. read more

We had taken our tire to fire stone because it was flat, and was still under warranty. The tread was still very deep and almost new like. Fire stone wouldn't fix the flat. They wanted to sell us a tire instead. That was ridiculous. So we took it over to carriage Auto service they fit it into their schedule and fixed it. No problem. They were very friendly and reliable. Had oil changed and AC check done. They changed the AC filter and and recharged the AC system. It seems to be working now. My car was making strange noises, so I brought the car back two days later and they fixed the problem. They are very nice, yet professional. OK so my review is definitely overdue the first time I came here I spoke with Ed and he got me in to fix my air conditioning it was a busy Saturday. And I was able to leave with cool vehicle by early afternoon, Price was very fair service and friendliness A plus. I've come in a few other times I can't even remember half the repairs. Today about 8 o'clock I was coming down the boulevard and I ran over some huge bolt busted my tire flat I called these guys up tell them the situation where I was it was so awesome. They sent a guy I think his name is TJ , he was so quick he put my spare on and get me moving back to the shop. Unfortunately my tire was busted beyond repair. So I ended up buying a new tire and having the mount and balance it for me. When I got back to the shop with my new tire another man with the last name McClannan? Was also super nice and got me mounted and back on the road inside of 15 minutes. These guys are amazing I didn't have to call AAA or get towed or walk myself for help. Thank you ! read more

Sent our car in to get the air fixed. One week later they call to pick it up and I get in and it reeks of Freon, turn the AC on and it just ran HOT. Paid $400, go inside to let them know and they take it back again, 20 minutes later they come back saying they need to do more work that will be over $600!!! Very unprofessional and didn't resolve the issue the first time ending up costing us more money. To make matters worst, they had our car over a week again, we drove by on the weekend it was to rain all weekend long and OUR CAR window was left DOWN!! Our spare key was with our parents out of town and they were closed for the weekend. By the time we got to roll the window up it was flooded out! When we confronted them they literally didn't say anything or offer us any type of discount. Now I have a disgusting, stinky and moldy car on top of out of $1000. Will never go here again. DO NOT!!!! I repeat do not bring any vehicle to these guys! I had a simple oil change done and noticed a very hard knocking and pinging on my engine a few weeks later so I decided to bring my truck to a friend of mine in Bradenton to try and diagnose the problem, where he found not only was the wrong oil and filter both used but there was way too much in the reservoir. I had a pickup that was immaculately maintained with only 75k miles that was running PERFECTLY before dropping off to Carriage auto. I moved to Apollo Beach about 6 weeks ago. I was driving up 75 her to pop then all of a sudden my truck was making weird noise lost power and roll and black smoke. This place is about a mile away from my house I saw it and pulled in ask them for help. The guys stopped what they were doing came out looked at my truck for me so that one or two turbo lines blew off took the thing halfway apart to get to the line put the line back on for me attached it all up when I ask them what I owe them they said nothing welcome to the neighborhood that's the type of family service that you missing this world. Once again a 5 star rating. Took my 2002 cougar in for an oil change (look for the coupon on their website), my front headlight bulbs needed 2b replaced and the tubing for the windshield wiper fluid needed to be replaced. They saved me money on how they replaced the tubing by not relaxing more than what was damaged. They also didn't charge me for some computer diagnostic work regarding the EGC valve, something I had always been charged for at other places. I will continue to come here and recommend them to anybody and everybody. If you live close by they'll bring you home after you drop your car off. As someone who works from home this is priceless. BEWARE!!! I moved to the Ruskin area 1 year ago from Carrollwood and needed to find a good mechanic close by. I have a good mechanic already, who I trust , but the company is in Carrollwood, which is too far to drive. So I read all the reviews for this place on Yelp and wanted to give them a try. When I got there, I told the front desk what was happening and later rode with the mechanic. After he told me what he thought it was, he told me to see the front desk guy and he would give me a quote. Long story short, dude told me what my repair was going to be and recomended that I get the other side done also. Next dude gave me my total of $920.00. I was like, "Man, you got to be crazy!" I took it to my guy in Carrollwod and he explained to me what was going on, gave me a price and fixed the problem. With parts and labor it was only $176.00. Carriage are crooks, even if they do good work, they overcharge and obviously get commisions by the part. If you have money to give away, maybe this is the place for you but as for me, I'll stick with my trusted mechanic, even if he is far away. read more

My parents started taking both of their cars there about 3 years ago, so when I got my first car I started taking it there too. The mechanics at Carriage are very knowledgeable and really nice. They don't try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. A few days after I got my car I took it on a 6 hour road trip (3 hours both ways). Halfway back a light on my car came on and I didn't know what I meant or what to do. I took it immediately to carriage and one of the mechanics told me what it meant, how to fix it (just had to reset something in the car), and even checked my tire pressure before sending me on my way with some peace of mind, and since it was an easy fix, they didn't even charge me. I refuse to take my car anywhere else! The guys here are great and I recommend this auto shop to everyone I know. read more

I was in dire need of help with my car this morning as the engine had exploded up under the hood and was smoking, coolant was flowing out. I drove with flashers on at low speed to CASC as I had seen the good surveys from previous customers I arrived at opening and asked the "manager" if he could work me in after explaining my situation. He said he could keep the car all day but could not guarantee they would do anything? I explained I had to work the next three nights in Sarasota. He said he had appointments all day every 30 minutes. Then he asked what type of car it was and after finding out it was an LR2 he said with that kind of car it wont be just one day. They have problems getting parts. I told him I was very disappointed with his response to me needing help with my car and he said well you can pull it up and maybe we can look at it but I cannot guarantee you anything. I could not believe how disconnected this young man was with good customer care and also how little compassion he showed knowing I was not holding coolant and my engine could really blow up. I said I really hate to go to your competitor Tuffys but I guess I have no choice. He said to me anyone who tells you they will have your parts today and your car back is lying, there is no way. I told him to have a nice day and left. I barely made it to Tuffy's with the light bright red and my engine knocking around. I was in tears. Tuffy's took me right in and called me by lunchtime. They told me what the problem was, how much the part and labor would be, the part would come from CLEARWATER and they would have my car ready by 3-330pm. Everything worked out just like he said. I picked my car up and was on my way. Shame on the manager at CASC for how he treated me as a woman needing help. I will never do business with this company and I have just moved here and had told him I would be back with further business if it went well. They lost a long term customer as well as got this bad review. They may treat people with appointments better but if you are a walk in, be ware. You are not a priority if they are all booked no matter how urgent your need may be. Very bad experience with this company. Just the lack of integrity and doing the right thing was a huge turn off and a red flag. read more
