Barbara and Eli ( hosts ) were welcoming, gracious, helpful. Their daughter Becky is the person we spoke with to make our reservation. If I had to leave a message, she always got back to me within the hour or less. A lovely family. Our room was lovely, the property is beautifully designed, flowers everywhere, and very well kept, you can see the pride they take in it. Have to say the area, Amish & Mennonite, is absolutely stunning. We hope to take another, longer road trip next year.... this B&B will be on the list of places to stay. Highly recommended!

We found this hidden gem after we couldn't find a hotel or other more known B&Bs available or that…read moredidn't have outrageous prices because of the holiday weekend. And what a find it was! It's a lovely home that has been extended to add the B&B with Dane and Audrey taking great care in using antique tools so the build could resemble the original architecture and detailing. Located on several acres of rolling green land property has been in the family for 6 generations. The rooms are cozy country style with Queen size beds only no bathtubs but all with their own private bathrooms. Not a place for small children or rowdy groups/persons. No TV no radio no noise just nature and the creaking planks. The breakfasts were spectacular as much as possible is farm to table nothing is wasted. Absolutely lovely and recommended. If you are looking for serenity.

Her breakfast was very good- egg casserole, bacon, sausage, muffins, even whoopie pies. The room we stayed in was the Henry Room. Queen bed, private bathroom with shower...very very clean. The house is old and creaks a bit. There is a nice porch to sit on outside to enjoy some morning coffee or tea, or to unwind after exploring during the day. If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the serenity of the countryside, this place is for you. If you're looking to be close to town, or near some food establishment, stay closer to town.

We had our breakfast (cooked exactly as we wanted) in the Sun room and chatted with fellow guests from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. When done with breakfast, Raquel and Juan joined us in the sun room where we chatted about all sorts of things. I couldn't have felt more at home anywhere else. Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.

She added central heat and air around three years ago. The B&B was built in 1909 and was used as a single family home until converted. The rooms and common areas still reflect the ambience of a family home. In the bathroom, everything works as it should. The beds are comfortable. Beth has improved her cooking and the breakfasts are now excellent. She will surprise you with some of her creations. If there is a downside, it's the noise coming from the street and the schools next door. However, that will be an issue in most places in Lancaster County. Overall, this is a great place to stay.

The grounds were well groomed and the 5 rooms were so nicely decorated with four poster beds with canopies. They were cozy with private baths. While we waited there were some chairs facing a small pond which we eagerly used. Janae was as prompt as promised and took us inside to check us in and show us to our room. We were given the key to our room and code to the door to the house. Janae was absolutely wonderful. Friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed, everything was nice. Odd though no television in our room ( no problem ) there was a radio though. Later we met David the owners son, he was pleasant and helpful too, giving us some ideas where we go for dinner. The house built in 1814 was wonderful.. Every time we turned around there was something new to spark our interest, the little details make all the difference. Our room was comfortable and the whole house was pristine. You can tell when someone really cares. I guess the owners were away, since we didn't get a chance to meet them. But Janae was great, she was there to serve breakfast, and we ate with another couple that came in that Friday night as well. Check out is a 10:00 and we did run a little late, but nothing was ever said about that. Were we comfortable? yes, were we happy we came? yes, would we come back? DEFINITELY. We come to the Lancaster several times a year, and we can see this becoming a place we would frequent again. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Eileen and her staff make a breakfast every morning that could feed and army in terms of quantity, but the quality of making everything from scratch is apparent in the taste. We had the Farmers Suite and it is perfect for a family of four with two younger children as the room has bunk beds which are very sturdy, safe, and will be a hit with the kids. Every morning after breakfast Galen will take the kids on a pony ride or a "train ride" around the property. They will also give you baskets to let the kids go into the chicken house to pick out the eggs every day and to feed their collection of goats and sheep. Not to be missed is the chance to watch and to try milking a cow. Galen, Eileen and their staff have created a true farm heaven that should not be missed. (The only big negative about going is that when you send a reservation request through their website a lot of times you do not a get a response for several days if at all without sending another request or sending an email asking about the status of your original request.)

All of the rooms are air conditioned and the whole house is extremely clean and comfortable. A huge farm, family style breakfast is included with your stay, where everyone staying eats together. We enjoyed collecting eggs from the hen house, feeding the baby calves, milking the cows, petting and feeding the goats, pony rides and hay rides. Couldn't have hoped for better hosts! Great place to stay if visiting Amish country, Hershey Park, or Dutch Wonderland.

I had originally booked a 2-night stay with them for my parents as a combined Mothers Day gift/Dad's birthday gift (around May/June). My father was sick with cancer at the time, and between hospital visits and treatments, my parents seriously needed a little getaway. However, due to my dad's illness, it was often very difficult to set dates for them -- every day can bring something new and unexpected. I had to call maybe 4 times to reschedule the stay -- each time, the staff being so incredibly empathetic and kind. There was never even an ounce of frustration from them, each time telling me 'not to worry' and checking in on my Dad. There were calls I had to make in which, after confirming the dates and my name, they would immediately ask how my Dad is doing and wishing my family well. I couldn't believe they remembered who we were, and had it in their hearts to ask about him! Well -- we fell on some very difficult times and lost my father in August. We had most recently moved their reservation to September, so we very quickly had to reassess. My family decided to gift the 2-night stay to some incredibly supportive friends of ours, but when I called and spoke with the staff -- they could immediately tell something was wrong, and once again hit me with the utmost empathy, kindness, and patience. They immediately offered to issue a full refund, but instead, I asked them to just change the names on the reservation and we gifted it to some friends. I truly couldn't wait for my friends to visit and tell me all about their stay. They had nothing but wonderful things to say! They told me that the staff was so generous and kind, the room was stunning, and the local hiking trails were absolutely beautiful and worth even just a day trip from where we live in NJ. They enjoyed everything about their stay! And they said the food was just divine! They said it's definitely a place they would return to, and I cannot wait to pay a visit myself and see all the things Churchtown has to offer in person! I can confidently say that based on my experiences with the staff just over the phone, this is a wonderful establishment who is deserving of all the success. Churchtown is #1 on my list i'd like to actually experience in person, and I surely cannot wait to do so!!!!

Our hosts Chris and Jim are so kind and thoughtful, and Chris is an amazing chef! She even gave me the printed recipe for her scones. Breakfasts were just heavenly. Five courses and totally different each time, made us feel like royalty. They were also so helpful about finding us dog-friendly places to go with our pooch. Lodgings are clean and quiet. I recommend Chris and Jim to everyone I know! I thank them for making this a great vacation!
