Raquel and Juan are what make this beautiful Victorian House a place to remember. Rooms are exceptionally beautiful, comfortable and most important... Clean! We had our breakfast (cooked exactly as we wanted) in the Sun room and chatted with fellow guests from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. When done with breakfast, Raquel and Juan joined us in the sun room where we chatted about all sorts of things. I couldn't have felt more at home anywhere else. Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.

Farm fresh egg omelet, French toast with caramelized pears, banana bread, parfait, grilled fruit. A high end restaurant quality meal. Checkin and checkout is very simple. Barbara and Eli ( hosts ) were welcoming, gracious, helpful. Their daughter Becky is the person we spoke with to make our reservation. If I had to leave a message, she always got back to me within the hour or less. A lovely family. Our room was lovely, the property is beautifully designed, flowers everywhere, and very well kept, you can see the pride they take in it. Have to say the area, Amish & Mennonite, is absolutely stunning. We hope to take another, longer road trip next year.... this B&B will be on the list of places to stay. Highly recommended!

Also getting in 30 minutes early to the park is an extra perk (but be mindful not all rides open 30 minutes early). In the main building is Penley's Kitchen, a small grab and go/gift shop, an activity area, and an updated arcade. We got to experience a character meet and greet as well as a "dance party" on Saturday night. The arcade was a lot of fun too! Penley's kitchen was very convenient and highly recommend for breakfast (buffet and 4 and under eat free). Dinner was fine but the kitchen was overwhelmed and we waited a very long time for a salad and two kids chicken tenders. There is an indoor pool in a separate building between the splash pad and the outdoor pool. While it has great hours (9:30am-9:30pm), it is small and was overly crowded. There's a small kiddie pool and hot tub in the same building. There's also a lifeguard on duty. They ran out of towels our first visit but some were brought by the time we left. First visit no chairs were available. Second visit earlier in the evening was much better. The room was a standard king overlooking the pool area. There were fire pits which we used Saturday night. The room was fine-I would have preferred a softer mattress. The shower also did not completely stop coming out of the faucet so the tub filled up while taking a shower. The outdoor pool area looks great for summer! This will be where we stay from now on when visiting Dutch Wonderland!

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was quiet. The environment was wonderful- so many kids and the pools were fun. The bad: the room felt damp. They say they're a cashless facility but the laundry requires cash (and the machine ate my quarters)- they need to update this to use your room key and charge it to your room. The indoor pool area is extremely slippery and at times the indoor pool felt unsafely crowded. While it's nice you can walk to Dutch wonderland, it would be even nicer if they had a shuttle or offered discounted parking... definitely not accessible for everyone. Housekeeping never came to our room and we were there for 4 days. The ugly: this was by far the worst breakfast buffet I have ever experienced. We waited at least 15 mins to be seated, EVERY table was extremely dirty (dirty plates, cups, etc) aside from the 5 that were currently occupied. The buffet was missing food and it took kind of a long time to fill it which sucked after waiting so long at the front. $42 for that was a bit much. The year prior we stayed at bird in hand family inn- I preferred that MUCH better.
