The shared living room has comfortable couches and bookshelves full of books. The dining is also charming - very homey, with lots of country charm. I can't remember the name of my room, but it was a gorgeous suite. My bedroom had beautiful furniture (a comfortable bed, a dresser, and a desk), and my little den had a TV and a couch (where I read my book for a bit in the evening). The bathroom had everything I needed and was spacious. There was plenty of parking for guests, and the grounds are beautiful. If it hadn't stormed when I visited, I would have loved to read my book on the grounds. The breakfast in the morning was delicious (a yogurt parfait, some stuffed French toast, some bacon wrapped sausage, and coffee), and the service throughout was very friendly and helpful. The location was great; you're only a 10-minute drive from Lancaster and just a few minutes away from attractions in and near Willow Street (1719 Museum and Historic Rock Ford). My only little hiccup is that no one was at the house when I arrived to check in. I rang the doorbell several times before realizing that wasn't going anywhere. I called the number of the website and someone answered the second time. Once they realized the situation, someone arrived quickly and checked me in - it really wasn't a very big deal! Overall, I had a lovely stay at the Apple Bin Inn. I'd love to stay again! Just a really charming place to stay in Lancaster County!

They confirmed our reservation, showed us the tea/coffee counter and mini fridge (which we were free to take bottled water from), and asked us if we had any food issues for them to consider for breakfast the next morning. They then walked us up to our room - the Empire Room. The bedroom and its en suite bathroom were immaculately clean. There were a couple small spots with the wallpaper that will hopefully be fixed during the next maintenance pass, but these were very minor. The room sleeps two in a queen bed and has a balcony which was nice to sit on. The room has a modern thermostat and was very cool and comfortable on what might have been one of the most humid and hottest days of the year. Downstairs in the common area, there is ample comfortable seating to lounge around on, as well as an electric keyboard. I will note that upon entering the property, there was the distinct smell of turmeric. In some reviews on other online platforms, this has been mentioned. It didn't bother me, but if you're sensitive to it, you should be aware. The bed was comfortable and I slept soundly. However, the inn faces a fairly busy two-lane one-way street and the road noise was noticeable during the day. It's no fault of the property, but it seems there are a lot of locals who drive by with modified exhaust systems and that can spoil the otherwise serene setting. Breakfast was served at 8:30am. There were pitchers of water and orange juice, and carafes of hot coffee and hot water for tea. Breakfast was a glass cup of yogurt with a berry compote, followed by a plate of two strips of thick bacon and two sliced biscuits filled with a sausage gravy. The gravy appeared to have turmeric in it and was quite tasty. My wife requested a non-meat option the night before and got a vegetable omelet and an oatmeal pancake topped with strawberries, which she said was very good. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay here. The house is old (late 1800s), but our room was extremely clean and well-appointed.

The house is steeped in history, with so many different nooks, crannies and no shortage of china cabinets and trinkets filling the shelves. Family photos are lovely to look at. Breakfast was fantastic. My favorite was the baked Amish oatmeal. Not every room has a private bathroom so read the fine print although it seems each has its own window unit and wifi. We really enjoyed the sunflower room which has a small sitting area and jacuzzi bathtub. The only minor drawback is there's no bathroom door, just a curtain. I didn't see a hair dryer although that's a small potato. This is a BNB, not a hotel so be aware of that. Bring your own soap and shampoo for the shower but there are plenty of towels. We had such a lovely time chatting with Linda and her companions and two other guests. It's old fashioned but if you like old fashioned charm and authentic interactions like we do, you'll love it here. Minor drawbacks: you have to call to make a reservation; you can't lock your room from the outside so leave valuables at home or perhaps locked in your car. Despite these, we had a grand time and the location can't be better for almost anything on your agenda.

Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.

The hotel has a great location right across the street from Dutch Wonderland amusement park and is close to a number of restaurants and shops. There's plenty of parking, and the interior is spotlessly clean. Our room was comfortable; the beds were not too hard, the bathroom had plenty of hot water, and housekeeping kept everything spotless. Their free breakfast was pretty good as thee things go; easily accessed hot drinks, pre-packaged Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, some fruit, waffles. And they have a really nice big pool and a good hot tub. Altogether, not bad at all. The downside: well, not a lot, but ... if you stay here ask for a room that doesn't face the highway, which is filled with noisy cars and big trucks all day and much of the night. Our AC worked fine but it was noisy the good news: it blocked some of the outside racket). The staff was mostly friendly and helpful though one front desk person was kind of grumpy. We all have bad days. All in all, we were satisfied with our visit and have no hesitation in recommending the Parkview to others coming to this area.
