Found some good years at about 70/75%. 2 different pairs. I was fine with that. Brand new i got a quote at costco for $685. If there is a nail on road I will find it. I have had five nails in my tires this year. This last time was a doozy - a full 6 inch spike nail (see pic). I have been to Carrillo's three times now to have them repair my tires and while none of the guys mentions it, one always looks at me like, "Again?" This is my go to tire place in Chula. I must have been to them all by now. Tires, cars, and men everywhere around an old building, but they are fast and efficient. Nice bunch of guys, too. Great deals on used tires. I had to get a new one because the huge spike tore my tire until it couldn't be patched. I said I just wanted a cheap-used tire and it was on and I was out in 15min. $40. Great! I discovered this place through their Craigslist ad for a set of Bridgestone Potenza with 70% thread for $180.00 out the door including tax. It was hard to pass up, seeing as I needed to replace my tires due to the constant San Diego rain. Rigo, the employee helping me was great! He answered all my questions regarding the tires to the best of his ability and even allowed me to inspect the tire prior to installation. I was even allowed to watch him around the workspace, although he technically wasn't suppose to. The tire disposal fee was also not enforced; so kudos to them! At first I thought what a great place with friendly staff. I purchased some used tires I spotted on their offerup page till I could save up enough to purchase 4 new ones. The employee stated the tires had 65% tread life and brought one out for me to look at and said all the tires were in the same shape. The tires online did not seem to have any visual defects just like the tire I was shown. Tires were installed and I went my way a happy camper. No more than a week later I hear this clunky weird sound coming from my front passenger tire. My immediate thought was they had broken the cap covering the lugs and it was finally making noise. As I'm driving into the shop I see the employee who helped me out last time and I point to him and then to my ear so he could pay attention to the sound. He did hear it and had a face like WTH is that? Keep in mind that he did install most the tires except for that one, a young lad mounted that one. Once he removed the cap that exposes the lugs, you can see one Lug lying loosely on its side. Apparently this kid didn't bother to tighten the lugs, so the employee took all the caps off and tightened all the lugs again for precaution and apologized. I drive to Lajolla everyday from South Chula Vista. See my concern here? Front passenger tire not tightened on a 12 Silverado, how unsafe is that? Anyhow, I wanted no trouble and went my way. Yesterday I purchased some rims from another spot that I've known since 2004. Upon removal of the tires I was made aware that the two back tires were old and most likely had been sitting in the sun. They showed me cracks in the tires and said there wasn't much life left in them, which contradicted the 65% life left Carrillo's lied about. They came back out and asked me to come to the work area and showed me a 3rd bad tire. This tire had a patch in the sidewall!!! WTH!! Carrillo's never disclosed any damage repair to the tire, he said that they were in good condition. You can't sell an unsafe tire like that, and the patch was red so I'm sure they knew. My life and the life of my children were put at risk for a sale!! Front right passenger tire blowing out in the freeway at full speed??? That could've been fatal!!! I'm extremely disappointed in how this shop conducted itself and if you've purchased tires from here I would suggest having a trustworthy tire shop inspect them. read more

Recently bought a smaller car with 20" rims & tires. The tires were really thin, because the rims are actually too large for this type of car. The large rims & tires compromised the handling & ride of the car, so I needed smaller rims with thicker or "softer" tires. The twins @ Carrillo sold me 4 used rims with 4 really good (70%-80% tread) tires, with sensor installation, balancing & mounting for a VERY reasonable price. I needed a used tire for my German import. One of my tires was leaking slowly, even after having it patched. Every used tire shop I visited prior to coming here did not have my tire size (19" used tires are hard to come by, from what I was hearing). After about 6 tires shops, I was willing to get a new tire, but every quote was between $250 to $300 for one tire! No way was I going to pay that much. The reason is that I plan on getting new rims and tires in about 4 months. For now I just need to get back on the road. The guy at BF Goodrich said to try the tire shop "behind Auto Zone" on Broadway. They have a good selection of used tires, he said. So, hoping it would be my last trip to a tire store, I pulled into Carillo's. I am not kidding when I say this -- I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I just walked in, told the guy the tire size I needed, he located it in about 5 seconds. I was quoted a very good price, to which I agreed, then told to pull the car into the bay. It took 10 minutes for them to R&R the tire, after which I paid and was on my way. FIFTEEN MINUTES! YES! Don't let the mom-and-pop appearance intimidate you. These guys do efficient, quality work. Their mission is to get you on your way, not to bog you down with "special offers" or "super deals." Used tires. That's all they do, and they do it very well. read more

Good used tire selection.I saw add on Craigslist for 4 used michelin 17 inch low profile tires $180 out the door .I pulled up Rodrigo was outside and told me the had the tires in stock and to pull around.I looked at the tires and where in good shape and said i would take them and they started working on my car right away.30 minutes later car was done $180 out the door mount and balance ,No tire disposal fee tax included .Before I left Rodrigo notice my front bumper sticks out because a clip broke when i change my front headlights to JDM on my Acura .He started trying to fix it without me asking or trying to charge me .He did fix it .Very cool and Happy worth the drive.I will be back read more
