We stopped by Carroll's on our way home from College Station. I was in the mood for a burger and fries. Carroll's makes a great burger and the fries are fabulous (sorry--no picture of the burger because I devoured it right away!). My son's chicken nuggets were quite bland--good for kids but not too interesting to my palate. My husband's chicken fried steak sandwich was hearty but bland. He ordered it with tater tots which, like my burger, disappeared quickly. Stick to the name of the restaurant--order a burger! read more

The service was good, and the staff was nice. The food was average at best. Given the "mom & pop" feel of this restaurant, I was expecting steak cut fries with the combo, but I completely missed the easy to miss sign on the door saying "...thick cut fries available upon request"...oh well.‍ The restaurant is in DESPERATE NEED of a DEEP and THOROUGH cleaning. Look at the picture of the soda fountain area. See the base of the counter & the floor? As a former restaurant/retail manager, I can tell you that is YEARS of dirt & buildup. We tried this place because we wanted to, but we enjoyed the pretty scenery on the route to get here more than the food. read more

Best $ 10 I've spent on a double meat / double cheese with jalapeños combo with a drink and fries...I've had in a really long time. Old school burger joint - not fancy but almost perfect at the same time. Loved the different salts and sauces at the table. I'll be back for sure. read more

Hole in the wall, I mean HOLE in the wall place that serves up a really nice basic burger. After visiting the St Francis Wolf Sanctuary, we were feeling a bit peckish so drove around Navasota until I spied this place. Order at the counter, our food was up pretty quickly. Thin patty that was seasoned lightly with crisp veggies & wonderfully crunchy pickles. The bun was fresh & lightly toasted. During COVID-19, one big question arose, "What will happen to small restaurants?" Luckily, Carol's still kicking! This is my first time here and I can see what made it so popular. The food quality is astounding, and the taste is even better! I ordered a single cheeseburger combo and the hubby ordered the double. (By the by, order your burger with extra veggies to make it pop!) Juicy, flavorful and the fries are so crispy and delicious. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in town. (I'd post a pic, but I already ate everything!) read more

Well I was disappointed with this dirty hamburger place. Upon driving up I couldn't help but notice how unkept the outside looked. It was rated 4 stars so I was hopeful. Upon entering inside and walking up to the counter to read the menu I couldn't help but notice how filthy dirty the entire wall was from floor to ceiling. I still chose to give it a try because of it's rating. So I ordered their double meat burger with cheese and iced tea. The price was $2.54 + $1.10 for add'l patty + $. 35 1 cheese slice. So that double burger with 1 slice of cheese was $3.99. While waiting for my burger I used the restroom which had the filthiest floor I've ever seen in an eating establishment. The floor in the main eating area was also very much in need of being mopped. Half the tables were unwiped and dirty with left food. The soda area had fresh and dried looking sticky soda all around it. Honestly I don't see how this place passes health code laws. Maybe they're very lenient in Navasota. My burger came out wrapped in clean white wrapping paper. That was the first thing I saw clean. My burger patties had a nice char, were large in circumference but very thin. The only ooze factor was from the grease. They were well done and because of their thinness it would be impossible to cook them medium. Cashier lady was very friendly. Upon leaving I pushed the door to leave and noticed how sticky and filthy dirty it was. I won't be back. Way to filthy. Don't see how people can honestly give this 4 stars. read more

My husband told me about this place and I began to salivate like Pavlov's dogs. I couldn't wait to try the giant burger. The burger experience, with double cheese, mayo and no pickles, didn't let me down!! The meat is the same size as the giant bun, and it's juicy with all kinds of flavor. Burgers are great. Onion rings are good. The place itself is not that nice looking, but the food is good. I used to eat here when I was a little kid. Their donut holes are delicious. The building has been a little updated recently. When I came here 25 years ago it was just a tiny place and we always used the drive through. Brought back nice memories of donut hole treats on Saturday mornings (when we had the extra money to spend) I've attached pics of what it looks like now and the menu. read more

We had been at WotB State Park, it was mid afternoon, and we were headed back to Houston. I had read reviews of Carroll's and called to make sure dine in was available (shortly after Gov. Abbott lifted the dine in ban). We found the place, ordered cheeseburgers,drinks, and decided to share a basket of fried okra instead of fries. The burgers were fresh and tasty, and the okra was great. The restaurant was clean, and social distancing enforced. Nice little touches from the past, e.g., the drive thru has an old time service station line bell that rings when a car rolls up. Really enjoyed it. read more

This little hamburger place has the look of an old Dairy Queen. It's been around for awhile and is more than a little plain and holmely, but the burgers are juicy. They have a few more selections like hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches, donuts etc... staple fast food offerings. We were so hungry we sat and ate inside, enjoying the giant crispy onion rings. Portions were fairly large, the fries were cut large, but tasted like they were frozen before hand and not fresh cut. As we sat in this non descript place we saw a fair amount of men ride down the street on horse back mixed with small town life. The burgers were nice and flavorul. I visited Carroll's for the fist time yesterday after reading numerous reviews on Yelp. The place has evidently been arount since '66 and looks it! It's not run down per-se, but it's definitely old, but considering it's location near downtown Navasota, it fits in nicely with its surroundings. Previous descriptions of the food are spot-on. For $2.54 (plus $0.35 for cheese), you get a "giant burger". Would it be considered a giant by today's standards? Hardly, but the meat had plenty of flavor with that old-fashion greasy spoon taste and plenty of the "ooze" factor. All toppings were very fresh, and the bun was toasted on all sides to give it extra texture and a welcome surprise. To summize, the patty wasn't giant, but as a whole, it's not a bad size. I ordered and finished two, and could have stayed with just one. The iced tea, a staple of Texas cuisine, was very fresh. No instant tea here. The large was defnintely that, and was plenty to finish off the two burgers. With the hour approaching 4 PM, I didn't dive into the restaurant's other major offerings, but the selection of doughnuts available at the counter were plently, and as I waited for my burgers, I saw at least two people hit the drive through for a late afternoon sugar rush. The service was good, and I waited about 7 minutes for my food. When in Navasota, skip Sonic, McD's and (ugh) Dairy Queen and head down LaSalle to Carroll's. You'll not only be patronizing a locally owned institution, but you'll enjoy a fine meal. PS - I had cash, but noticed that credit card orders less than $5 will incur a $0.50 charge. read more

Okay, I've never been here before. The sign says that they've been here since 1966. I've never been to this area before. I was traveling and was looking for a bite to eat while I was on a long drive. I saw some other reviews for this place on Yelp and so I decided to stop in. I'm pretty particular about my burgers but this sounded pretty good. I was glad that I stopped in. The burgers are really, really good and the price is really reasonable. I got a double meat, double cheese burger combo for 7.25. And this seems like a down home cooked type of deal. Everything was fresh and hot and honestly the meat was really good. It has that extra flavor that a lot of burgers don't have. I don't know if they use anything other than just salt and pepper to season it but the meat is great and makes a great burger. And to get a filling double burger meal that really filled me up when I was really hungry for less than eight bucks is what pushed this from a four to a five star. Soda is self serve and free refills but they don't have Dr Pepper tho. They do have Mr Pipp and that's the next best thing. read more
